Thanks guys! I've got the ISD in now, and I have decided on complete gameplay mechanics. The game will revolve around a credit system from which ships will be bought and 'warped' in. Ships will earn credits by simply staying alive, but also earn a lot more by destroying other ships. Ships will earn more depending on their size. I haven't decided on multipliers yet, but they will be some ratio of this when the ships rank up. It takes more points for a bigger ship to rank up also.
Fighters will earn you 1 credit when they get at least 1 fighter kill
bombers get 10 credits for killing a capital ship of at least acclamator size.
Acclamators will get 10 credits for ranking up, taking a kill of equal size to the ship itself.
Venators will get 25 credits for killing a ship of equal size or combination of some others.
ISD's will get 50 credits.
As I said, it may be more like 100, 1000, 2500, and 5000, but I"m not sure.
Ships will cost double what they earn so in order to pay for a ship, it has to get at least 2 kills.
Ships will start with a full compliment of fighters(/bombers) and you may pay to replenish a ships supply. You may also bUy defensive fighters(not bombers) which will be autonomous. I think I have decided that they will cost the same considering they are like fire and forget rockets. Fighters will launch in groups of three, so you can launch just as much as you want.
And thats pretty much it.
the game will be over when your enemy has no more capitalships. You get more by killing more, but to keep a player who is losing in the game, simply keeping your ship alive will earn you say X credits every 15 seconds, depending on its ship class. Fighters will not count towards your ultimate goal, but will be usefull for protecting bomber groups and your ships from bomber groups. Capitalships can not directly fire on fighters or bombers and fighters can not fire on capitalships either. Bombers can fire defensively on other fighters, but are mainly used to attack capitalships. Fighters and bombers do not gain credits by staying alive, but earn credits for kills.
In theory, it is a pretty good system, but well see how it works out. So far I only have the capitalships in, but it shouldn't take long to add everything else.
