• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. I would choose where you currently live, I am planning on making the flag system a compulsury option with the next site upgrade.

Yes, I also knew the Typhon was there as (maybe) an easter egg. Then I guess we'll see some Valkyries flying along-side it :).

About the other new ships, I like to see the Centaur, I prefer the original Nova class and I love the new Nebula class. The new class of ships, it has a feel similar to the Descent class, and I like that because FleetOps is giving it's fleet a unique feel.

Ok well... My main menu is WIP, and after seeing maj's I really need to work on it LOL but here are some shots of my new mini-mods menus. :D I redesigned them all... though I based the frames off the FO ones I completely changed the coloring and backgrounds.

Hey, don't sell yourself short, I think it looks better than mine. I really like the logo, half Imperial and half Republic. Thankfully I decided against Star Wars Fleet Operations name for my mod, I changed it at the last minute.

I also love the idea of Republic vs Imperial, neat idea mate.

I myself am giving the Venator to the Zann as well as the V-wing other than that and the Acclamators for the Imperials there will be no Republic ships in my mod. But I would like to add a Separatist Holdout faction as a forth faction. I really love the Clone Wars and wanted to make a mod solely dedicated to that era, but there are more designs for the latter eras. I might do a KOTOR/TOR mod for fun and the challenge down the track.

Will you be making any new models or designs for this mod? Or will you search the various communities for models? Have you got a unit list sorted yet, are going going to heavily rely on fighters? Have you looked at the models available in 3ds format from AFC, MAP did a reasonable Venator and released it over there.

So far, I am just making, as I said, a mini mod. I plan on having it done within the week too. It will just consist of Amateurs models, being the venator, acclamator, arc 170, and the y wing, and possibly his ISD when he releases it.

The ships will launch fighters, and I suppose I will make avatars like I did for the doctor who one(which I might resurrect in the near future) but I haven't decided on stations, or how you will get capital ships. I haven't even decided how the ships will launch fighters yet.:lol: But I"m working on it as we speak.

I think, if I can get some kind of station, it will warp in capital ships as 3 acclamators, 2 venators, or 1 isd. The acclamators will launch small amounts of y wings, in squads of #(still undecided), and venators will launch arc 170's and the isd will launch a mix.:cool:

Still working out the details but so far so go. 4 of the main 6 capital ships are in(imperial and republic) with working weapons and physics. I even have sound effects for their SOD based weapons. ;)


Oh, and the symbol you mentioned I just came up with, but it turned out really good. I have attached a larger image.:cool:



Speaking of modeling though, I think I have decided that, if and when I decide to bring the Doctor Who mod back, It will be with my own models. Yes, I mean to say that I will model my own TARDIS and dalek saucers.:) I chose those because of their simplicity, and I thought it fitting that you mentioned the saucer I am currently using is one of your first as well.:)

Great work on the texture update man, really improves the original ship and brings it closer to what I believe Amateur was aiming for.
Oh and if you like there is a V-wing in those ships I will be sending you and that ship needs no editing whatsoever so it might be ideal for this mod of yours. :thumbsup:

I will be uploading it this afternoon after Kat finishes downloading the Eve Game latest version. :)

I think a v-wing would probably find its way into my mod.:D

right now I"m working on his BTL-B Y wing, but here is a shot of something I believe I will use in my mod as well, which I did earlier.:)

Awesome Shadow Squadron ARC-170, Imperial Fighter. I saw a toy in the toy shop today of it. Pretty awesome, wish they had toys like that when I was a kid. :thumbsup:

As an update, Maj has passed along a ton of models from EaW and Amateur has given me the his great matching ISD, so I can continue work on odfs as soon as I am done with the BTL-B Y wing.:) I will post pics soon.:D

I think it turned out pretty well too.:) This one, unlike the arc 170 was a complete retexture.

I have also done some other things to the texture which I plan to release on their own. See what y'all think.;)

Thanks guys! I've got the ISD in now, and I have decided on complete gameplay mechanics. The game will revolve around a credit system from which ships will be bought and 'warped' in. Ships will earn credits by simply staying alive, but also earn a lot more by destroying other ships. Ships will earn more depending on their size. I haven't decided on multipliers yet, but they will be some ratio of this when the ships rank up. It takes more points for a bigger ship to rank up also.

Fighters will earn you 1 credit when they get at least 1 fighter kill
bombers get 10 credits for killing a capital ship of at least acclamator size.
Acclamators will get 10 credits for ranking up, taking a kill of equal size to the ship itself.
Venators will get 25 credits for killing a ship of equal size or combination of some others.
ISD's will get 50 credits.


As I said, it may be more like 100, 1000, 2500, and 5000, but I"m not sure.

Ships will cost double what they earn so in order to pay for a ship, it has to get at least 2 kills.

Ships will start with a full compliment of fighters(/bombers) and you may pay to replenish a ships supply. You may also bUy defensive fighters(not bombers) which will be autonomous. I think I have decided that they will cost the same considering they are like fire and forget rockets. Fighters will launch in groups of three, so you can launch just as much as you want.:)


And thats pretty much it.:lol: the game will be over when your enemy has no more capitalships. You get more by killing more, but to keep a player who is losing in the game, simply keeping your ship alive will earn you say X credits every 15 seconds, depending on its ship class. Fighters will not count towards your ultimate goal, but will be usefull for protecting bomber groups and your ships from bomber groups. Capitalships can not directly fire on fighters or bombers and fighters can not fire on capitalships either. Bombers can fire defensively on other fighters, but are mainly used to attack capitalships. Fighters and bombers do not gain credits by staying alive, but earn credits for kills.:)

In theory, it is a pretty good system, but well see how it works out. So far I only have the capitalships in, but it shouldn't take long to add everything else.:)

Yeah I was a little discouraged that I spend a whole day getting some stations done and only one member posted about them. It has made me re-evaluate how many and what images I post in my thread from now on.

This is looking really fantastic, for a mini-mod it's top notch. How on earth or should I say on Coursant :lol: did you get the custom selection box? It looks amazing and really fits in with the Star Wars theme you have going for it. I also like the Star Wars text you added, really gives it the Star Wars feel and I see the supply logo changed to the credit logo as well. :)
