I get it Maj, since the Klingons were changed to green, I thought it'd might be nice to have the Romulans with their gunmetal grey colors to contrast them apart.

Personally speaking, I much prefer the grey TOS colors over green TNG looks. I re-colored Aad's kfrigate replacement into my own version of the Stormbird (I added a small pic to illustrate the concept of the color, don't mean to hijack the thread). I think it didn't turn out too terrible, given how little I know how to use photoshop lol, but I dig those colors contrasting off each other.

Anyway that's just a personal preference. Your ships are too awesome to not like no matter what color they are; so green is good. Ha.

I really need to look into the Gorn designs of STO. I've always been interested by the Gorn but there is very little shown of them in the shows outside of Arena and the one episode of Enterprise. The most information I got out of them is the (I assume) non-canon Star Trek Kelvin timeline video game.

I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

That's a fair call and something I have thought about as well. But considering there was an alliance with technology exchange between them I'd like to think that there would be some similarities in the materials/colours they used.

Looking sharp mate. The YY Stormbird is more Romulan in appearance. Basically the Romulans ripped it apart and rebuilt it. KJC built the model for me. It'll serve as a hero unit in YY however, flown by a hero that isn't ashamed to fly a vessel that is what his fellow officers see as an enemy ship. Romulans and their pride lol.

The Alliance explanation makes sense. I sorta do that by having them both have the grey colors scheme and then I differentiate the Klingons with red engine and disruptor/torpedo glows and the Romulans with green engine and disruptor/plasma glows. So I really like where you are heading with the two races.

Thanks for the very nice compliment on my Stormbird, I'm very proud of how she turned out with my meager skills (Skill, being an extremely loose definition of the word, LOL).

By "More Romulan" do you mean it's gonna look more like a bird? Cause if the Romulan Stormbird looks like Discovery's plucked chicken "D-7" then I don't know how to feel about that. :p Then again, I'm very familiar with KJC's work, so he's way ahead of the Discovery's production team when it comes to ship design. Ha!

So does that mean that the V-11 will only serve as a hero unit in Yesteryears and there will be no standard version of the ship (Ala "The Enterprise Incident"?). I'm really curious to see what you are thinking on Romulan designs; if they are half as sleek as your Klingons then the main superpowers will really be a treat in Yesteryears. I'm kind of lamenting there isn't a campaign to go along with it, your units deserve their own game, lol.

Pretty much my idea just with green hulls. Windows will be a different colour too.

More Romulan means it sin't just going to be a texture but have parts that are Romulan designed. It'll be one of the first Romulan ships I texture.

Yup there will only be 1 V11. They'd be considered a dead end in starship design and most active V11s serve in reserve fleets not within the main fleet.

Funny the other day I was really impressed with a 3d moddler who made a fleet of klingon ships with the Kronos One paint scheme (http://www.robinomicon.com/c3/portfolio-item.php?id=14) ever thought about doing something similar?

I have thought about that which is kind where I headed from with the current textures. At one point my Klingons did look like that but I moved in a different direction. Earlier in this thread you'll see the K'tinga and I'rexa in this texture style.

I love the Icons. Now I'm not entirely sure if you are setting this in a post-Undiscovered Country timeline, I thought it was a general TMP era, so please excuse my ignorance if this is post-2290s Trek.

I dig Col. Worf, I don't recognize the other two. Any thoughts to Kirk's nemesis, Kor? Or Kruge and Gen. Chang?

I really look forward to seeing that more Romulan V-11 hero ship. I suppose the reserve fleets will not be making an appearance in Yesteryears then, lol. That's cool, a unique modified V-11 sounds very intriguing.

Yesteryears has always been post Star Trek 6. As for Kor, Kang, Koloth, Chang and Kruge, the latter two are dead by YY and the former 3 are off hunting down the Albino who has killed their first born. So I wanted some more original heros. Something to set it apart.

If I set the mod during TMP then the Excelsior is still one of a kind and it wouldn't make sense to mass produce them as a fleet unit. It would still be experimental. I didn't want that as I really do have a soft spot for the original Excelsior.

Setting it after Star Trek 6 is was my original intention to explore the early years of the peace and how unstable it is. It was going to have a lot of controversy etc.
I might look at doing the Federation heros today, since it's a bit of a wet day again.

That's very interesting Maj, so basically you are exploring more of the beginning of the lost years than TMP itself. So no Enterprise/Kirk as they were retired/killed after ST6. This means the Constitution Class is also being phased out by this point?

The Fed heroes look great. Huge props for Kirstie Alley's Saavik from ST2. As much as I liked Robin Curtis, I always have had a soft spot for Alley (Possibly cause I used to watch Cheers and Look Who's Talking, lol).

The original constitution class run yes. There are still never ones in commission reason why it's still a fleet unit.

Yup no Kirk, Spock is off being an Ambassador, Sulu is in command of the Excelsior, Scotty has disappeared with the USS Jealon on the way to his retirement planet. Pretty much only Uhuru, Sulu and Chekov of the original crew are active in Starfleet now.

I always preferred Kirstie Alley's Saavik myself.

Thelin Valrass, if you're not familiar with him was in the animated series as first officer of the Enterprise in a parallel universe where Spock died as a child. There was also a novel (I think one of the Myriad Universe novels) where it explored this concept further and Kirk ended up dying in the Wraith of Khan and Thelin took command of the Enterprise and eventually became an Admiral fighting a Klingon war. I always liked the character and I wanted to have him in YY as a hero. Plus mixes them up more allowing to have a more diverse hero species.

Lately who doesn't love Chekov he deserves him time in the spot light as a Captain in his own right. :)

Good to see that there is some life around this place, I know we're headed for Halloween but it's been a bit of a ghost town around these parts lately, haha.

Great to hear you're good Maj, look forward to seeing what's next for YY. (See: meet your Romulan neighbors and then KILL them, woot!). :exter:

I hope it's not a summer like we had in Europe, because in that case you are really scorched!

We've already had fire bans but yeah it's going to be similar just hotter due to being Australia and being hot normally lol
We've had a very dry winter so bush fires are going to be common I think.

Maj those Gorn Hero pics are great, better then those of the Klingons and Feds with their odd paint/cell shading like appearance.

The art style used in the Federation and Klingons is intentional. I forgot to add those to the Gorn ones. I'll do that at a later date.

The first one was based off the arena Gorn so yes you could say it's the same Gorn.

It's been a while for sure. Been very busy restoring an old 4wd which has kept me away from being online. But with the Aussie summer scorching it's way into my life I have found myself inside with the air conditioning on. Which means modelling and gaming for me.

I decided to have a crack at the Romulans, first up is the Romulan V8 Bird of Prey. Mainline destroyer for the Romulans like the Detroyat is for the Federation. Still a early texture style for the Romulans no doubt I'll refine it as time goes on (remember my Klingons). That can be said for this individual model and texture. I need to put some more detail on the bottom of the main hull methinks.

Anyway I'm still alive and still working on this project. Hopefully I can get more models finished and textured over the next few months.

Love the look of the V8 Maj! The details are gorgeous.

Since this is a TMP based era I was wondering if you are going to go with an overall "green" aesthetic for the Romulans?

From what I remember, the green palettes for Klingon and Romulan ships were begun generally from TNG onwards, save for the Klingon BoP; the Romulans and Klingons had a metallic grey palette in TOS and the movies.

I seem to recall your Klingons having the green look overall in Yesteryears, are the Romulans also going to follow suit and have green ships?
