I've decided I'll not use the Sabre class for the Terran Empire Starfleet. I want to use the Norway as the second destroyer class instead. The Sabres have little staying power and I don't think the Terran Starfleet would build ships which are not as effective as their foreign counterparts. I may reintroduce the Sabre in place of the Venture class scout, but I have decided not to decide about this until later.
I've no idea at all what to use for either a colony ship or a science vessel. I think I'll use the Oberth class for a science vessel because science isn't as high on the priority list with the Terrans. I can easily visualize them using Oberths long past their useful service life should have ended because Earth does not want to waste resources on a non combat vessel. The Oberth would also make a fine colony ship since as well, I think.
i'm not planning on doing a Sovvy. Jetfreak has already done one of these and there is no way I culd match his textures in quality. So when I eventually get around to doing the entire fleet as an add on race, I'll leave a space for his Sovvy to just be dropped in.
For a frigate I've no idea what to use either. I can see the Terrans only recently introducing a fleet defense vessel and as such this probably won't be an Aegian. I like the Nova class, there are more than a few good ones available and it shares commonality of parts with the Intrepid class so it makes sense the Terrans would use this frame this way. At least to me it makes sense. I could be completely out of my mind. I am quite sure there is more than one FanBoy out there who'll be glad to point out just how 'wrong' I am doing this, rofl.
I've also went back to Tom Bloomberg's conversion of NineOfNine's BC Defiant. Yes, it's poly heavy. Just like all the rest of these so far. But I really like the attention to detail on it. If I wanted a poorly done blob which only sometimes vaguely resembles the ship it is named it after, I could have done all this with the Stock ship meshes. I want these to look different in my install. I want them to look elegantly, lethally menacing. I want someone to place these into their install and go, "Wow! That's wonderfully scary!"
But you' re really reading this for the pics aren't you? Hope I do not disappoint, lol. And before you ask, why yes, that is Dan1025's wonderful Intrepid pulling double duty. I seriously doubt the Kazon would be foolish enough to hunt the Terran Kathryn Janeway down more than once. After she finished with them, there wouldn't be enough left to crew a lifeboat, let alone one of those hideously overpowered oversized hulks they usually run around in.
