Thanks for all the support all of you have shown me over the years. Words cannot express how I feel about all of you. I have been somewhat in a TNG frame of mind today. Here are a couple of pics to prove it.

It is the Stock Cube with the textures replaced. I cannot remember exactly which mod the new textures are from. I think if you search A2F for Nightwolf's textures you may find them.

Not actually 'new', lol. Looked at Wiley Coyote's and a few other TE ship available and compared them to the original ISS Enterprise from TOS. Most of the fan made ones are a little too over the top when compared this way. They look good but it is the same as if we slapped a pic of Darth Vader 200 feet high on both sides of your Super Star Destroyer textures. Really cool, but not what I am after.

In Diane Duane's novel, Dark Mirror, she describes ISS Ent-D as being gunmetal in color with a very much more angled rake to the nacelle struts which are also further apart. She also describes the Saucer as having a much more pronounced curve to the upper surface. The phrase she uses is, "When looking at the ship from bow on, it appeared to be wearing a frown."

I can't redo the mesh, but what I can do is match the color of the hull almost exactly. I also found a fanon 24th Century TE symbol which is very good and decided to use it. Since my texture adjustments aren't usually too bad, I thought it would be neat to get as close as I can to Diane's description while maintaining my preferred technique of 'less is more' whilst marking ISS Ent-D up. The first run is what is in the pic. No registries, because I sux bad at adding those. The third version came out perfect! Since I used Jet's textures as a start point for this, I'm hoping when he gets a moment, I can send them off and he'll write on 'em. Not in any hurry to bother him until he clears away some of the backlog he's piled up.

Here is a pic from NOAA of TS Lee. I added the dots to show approximate locations. To get a sense of scale, From Biloxi to New Orleans or to Mobile is about an hour's drive. Pensacola is about two hours and Houston is not quite seven.

Fourth and final version of my take on the Mirror Ent-D. This one is gaudy by my standards, but it looks better than the other three versions. Sent Jetfreak version 3 to do with as he pleases and then got to tinkering a bit more. So now I need to send him this one as well, lol.

Hey mate, I must say this is absolutely brilliant to echo SciFiFan. I was never a big fan of the previous versions but this one rocks, you got the perfect hull shade and the small logos just adds that bit of Terran fell without going over the top like I do.

Absolutely brilliant, sorry I had to say it again.

I really like the grayer hull color - In fact, she makes the regular Galaxy look almost like a cartoon - the hull is too blue and the glows are too gaudy (but this is only by comparison, you understand...)

In isolation the two are awesome - but side by side the Terran Galaxy looks more "real" - if you get me?

Thanks DJ, I was trying for a greyish, actually gunmetal, color for the hull. This one is more feldgrau than gunmetal. Still tinkering with minor adjustments here and there. One of the problems with all Fed vessels is the huuge number of portholes on them. Makes 'em all look like space going cruise ships. Zero G shuffleboard and all that, lol. May turn off some of the lights as well as darken her a tiny bit more...I dunno.

UPDATE: And this is the final, final result, lol. Tweaked the gamma, turned off some lights, turned some others down, adjusted the color of some details which I wanted to bring out more.

Couldn't wait until the weekend. The idea got a firm grip on me and would not let go, lol. Sound familiar? Went back to Scotchy's original texture set for my Fed Akira and then thought, "I can do the same thing here I did with Ent-D!". Here are the results

OMG, that Akira is hot! I love the hull coloring... and the yellow deflectors are awesome as well.

Been meaning to ask this for a long time, how do you change the tooltips' background!

Looking great Thunder.

The tool tip colour is done through the cfg files in the misc folder for the GUI. I did it for YY when it was still on the stock platform. If I recall it's this:

tooltipBackgroundColor	=		0.0	0.0	0.0
tooltipTextColor	=		0.45	0.65	1.0

You get the RBG colour code and divide each by 256 and that's what you put in.

Correct me if I'm wrong Thunder, it's been so long since I played with that.
