• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I have nearly 500 pictures of things which are A2 related. Nearly all of them are on PhotoBucket. Jetfreak, Fallen Graces and a couple of other people told me once my pictures do not suck too badly(kidding :p). Thought I'd share some with Y'all. If you like them, I'll post a link so you can go and fetch the full sized one from my PhotoBucket account. Here are some of my personal favorites.

"Admiral Nechayev to Incursion. Very funny. Now knock it off!"
Nechayev_to_Incursion.jpg
"Nav, CIC. Just how 'blind' was that Jump, anyway?"
SnapY01.jpg
"If they go in there, we'll lose them."
Khan002.jpg
"Captain, we must endeavour to draw it away from the inhabited planets of this system."
kirk003.jpg
Boldly going into harm's way.

From Uncle Thunderfoot's A2 definitions for regular words: Pluck. (n); A highly desriable trait frequently exhibited by Federation Starfleet Captains.
pluck.jpg
"Starbuck here! I'm on 'em! Rollin' in hot!"
viper002.jpg
rf09.jpg

EDIT BY: Me, of course! Forgot to tell Y'all these were taken using ALT-P in my personal A2 install which is 1.75GB and growing at an alarming rate. All of these ships are fully functional in game. No point in adding something which does not work.

Thank you again. I have been on a serious BSG run lately. I dunno why, but I am constantly facinated by the new BSG. When people started releasing these ships for A2 I snapped them up as fast as I could. So here are some BSG pics

Thank you all again for the kind words about my modest efforts.

That is a nice looking Valdore.

I just take the pics, man. The real modders do the ships.

The Norexan class in the pics was done by a fellow called Aad Moerman. He's done some other Romulan ships and some pretty amazing Klingon ships as well. All I did was tweak the textures a bit to make the details stand out a little more. The Scimitar in the pic I harvested from Achilles' Art of War TC mod. I've always wanted one but all of the others I'd found were not lightmapped at all or the lightmaps were not done correctly. She is a glorious beast and Achilles included the theleron radiation as a Special Weapon. She can make an AI-controlled Cube run off and hide.

Well due to the database errors, we all lost some recent posts. This is one of the things which just happens on the Web, I suppose. Fortunately I have enough pics where I can replace those lost with different ones. Different is good, hey?

Experiencing the folly of getting too close when trying to capture the Perfect Close Up, lol.

Hello:
Wow, all of those pics are awesome, but I must say that you really made my day with that pic of a Nebula class and a Cylon Baseship. That was awesome!.

Crossovers you like? Then crossovers you shall have!
"Nav, CIC. I've been to Saggittauron before, you know. That's not it."
valk001.jpg
"Who dares to speak to a Dark Lord of the Sith in such a fashion? Answer me quickly and your death shall be as swift."
snapshot000-1.jpg
" 'Just vanished'? Impossible! No ship that small could have a cloaking device! Now find them! At once!"
ambition.jpg
"D____t, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a multiverse-hopping thrill seeker! If I have to spend one more minute around our counterparts here,
I'm gonna forget all about my Hippocratic Oath and knock the stuffing out of those smug little children!"
juxtaposed.jpg
"Okay, Praetor, or whatever your name is. You're going to tell us right now exactly where Earth is. Or, you can say 'hello' to my little friend."
Shinzon.jpg
"Turns out Janeway was correct. One does indeed find the oddest things in the Delta Quadrant."
akira002.jpg
"You are Human, but not Starfleet? You are Maquis, then? Why are the Maquis now fighting the Borg?"
valk016.jpg
"Hideki to fleet. We've located the source of those very odd subspace transmissions and you will not believe it.
Sending link protocols now so you can observe in realtime."

It may be Saggittauron, but it's after the Borg got there. :lol2:

Nice pics in this thread, indeed. :D

Excellent pics thunderfoot, I'll have to dig up my old screenshots thread (assuming it's still on here after all this time) and update it. Looking forward to seeing more :)

Well thank you, milady! Actually, I was thinking about a misjump like the other one where I had Pegasus encountering Executor in the asteroid fields around Hoth after her blind jump.

Awesome Thunderfoot, just awesome!

I would give you rep, but you've got no body... and we're both men...

Nah, seriously - these pics are just awesome - you capture the models perfectly, and inject humour without ecoming cheesy or corny, or any other food stuffy...

Well done that man!

(incidentally, I tried to give you + rep, but it seems that I must spread the love around a touch more before adding to your burgeoning reputation:) )

I thank the both of you but rep, either positive or negative, is something I do not get overly concerned about. I always thought if people liked or respected me on a website it was because of who I am, not what I do. And if people did not like me, well this is okay too. The rep points you have so graciously awarded me would probably be better spent elsewhere. The nice things people say about my pics and A2 mods are reward enough.

Here is an example of what I call the best type of reward. I was flying back from one of our schools in Dallas, TX and wound up spending about three hours waiting for the airline to repair the aircraft I was supposed to fly home on. Something about the engines wanting to fall off, lol. So I fired up my faithful laptop and began modding. I think I was working on A2PP X at the time. I was not happy with how the fighters were moving.

Well, you know how nosy people can be when you are working on your laptop in an airport lobby. This guy was apparently a little curious when he saw the splash screen pop up and the Map Editor come on. He watched for about five minutes and then said, "Excuse me, please. Is that Armada 2? I love that game. I play it all the time." I told him yes, it was and I was working on a mod. He got all excited and mentioned a few of the websites where I could find them. He then said, "There is this guy who calls himself thunderfoot who made the most amazing mod ever! He made the ships move just like they do in the films! Have you ever seen any of his stuff?" I laughed and told him who I was. At this point he acted as if he thought I was pulling his leg. When we finally did agree I was indeed, thunderfoot, he began to act like I was some kind of rock star.

It was all highly amusing and very flattering. Along with these, it was a little embarrassing as well. We sat and chatted for about an hour and a half about games we'd played and things we liked about them and what we would do different in them if given a chance. This was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. As he was leaving, he had decided to fly out the next day, I gave him an advance copy of A2PP X. To say he was grateful is an understatement. He told me how much more he enjoyed the game with A2PP installed.

To actually meet someone in person who added my stuff into his game because he thought it made the game better and more fun to play is a reward I treasure. It is far more than I deserve. It is not the first reason why I make mods for any of the games I play. I make mods for myself. The thought people use my mods to make their own game experience more enjoyable is why I release them publicly.
