Looks like the Ares can whoop some real arse (no pun intended LOL), cant wait to see it textured sir! :salute:

The Juno looks great by the way, maybe we can ditch aesthetics for functionality eh?

Hello:
This is indeed very interesting, we hardly get to see any old-style ships (chronologically speaking) and even less of great quality. I am very looking forward to see how this mod progress  .

Keep it up! :excited: .

Well she is going to be Earth's most powerful vessel. Their version of the Vulcan D'Kyr.

The Juno looks great by the way, maybe we can ditch aesthetics for functionality eh?

That is what I was thinking, it needs a deflector only the Pioneer is lacking one but due to the design there isn't much I can do there. It's a canon ship after all.

----

A new ship, one inspired and based loosely on Hellkite's design above. This ship is an older ship, built around the time of the Neptune, (Intrepid from the series). I'm still working on the pylon set-up not happy with it. But other than that it's ready to be textured. She is planned to be a support vessel, not very strong or powerful. Current designation is the NH class.

  3. Juno Class (NP)
  4. ? Class (NH)
  5. Konovalov Class (NW)
  6. Neptune Class (NF)
  7. Daedalus Class (NK)
  8. Oberon Class (NV)
  9. Coto Class (NR)

Thanks HK, I tried several versions including the T-section however I finally decided upon the original set-up I had, the others either didn't look right or looked too much like the Coto and Enterprise classed from the top.

Some of you may remember I did a ENT Earth ship scale image a while back. Well I had to rebuild it as I lost my PSD file with the HD problem. While I was at it I decided to update it. This is the second update, with a new destroyer I just finished. Boy was that ship a pain to texture. On and off about 24 hours over the course of about 3 days. I have come to hate ships with spheres rather than saucers. The result I am mostly happy with. A lot of work just to finish up a ship that I made sometime back that I didn't want to waste.

I am still not sure if I will downgrade the ship to a scout. I guess only time will tell.

Hello:
That is a very interesting fleet pic. Can i ask how do you do it? because my MS3d likes to kill details in many of the pics I take.

Keep it up! .

Daedalus class is complete, after 1.5 hours to map the texture and 10 hours of texturing. Updated ship scale image for your viewing pleasure.

FleetScale_v2b.jpg

[fieldset=Daedalus Class]Originally launched in 2140, the Daedalus was propelled by a radical new engine, the Cascading Ion Drive (CID). The Daedalus was to be Earth's first warp 5 explorer. However on it's maiden voyage, the Daedalus exploded in a catastrophic ion-cascade reaction, killing all aboard including it's designer. After examination on the incident it was found that the CID Drive was a failure and the class was cancelled opening the way for the NX Project.

Seventeen years later, after the outbreak of war with the Romulans, Earth went back to the Daedalus design, needing vessels fast to booster numbers and replace early losses, they refitted the Daedalus class with the Warp 5 engine that powered the NX class and green lit a construction contract for the class.

The refit was slow due to difficulties of getting the new warp drive to work with the older space frame design, by the time of the Romulan War became dire, over a dozen had been put into service. They served with distinction during the war, and while a number were lost they continued their service after the war and well into the 23rd century.
[/fieldset]

I have noticed that if you build the textures with Paintshop Pro they are more Jaggered than in Photoshop, this could be the issue you're having. I run MS3D with all standard option with the exception of the viewport window bars and the 3D view background colour.

I really like this era of ship design. Great work Maj.

Thanks, I am glad you like my work.

The Interstellar Coalition is a organisation by me inspired by a short story in the first Myriad Universe novel and is the organisation in my ENT project, the Coalition War. Basically it's a trade and mutual defense alliance that is in the place of the UFP. It's a formal treaty between Earth, Vulcan, Tellar Prime and Andoria after the Romulan Star Empire attempts to disable the region and plunge many of the species in the area into war.

It is formalized in 2155 and is one of the events that leads to the Coalition War also known as the Romulan War and Earth-Romulan War. Unlike the UFP, the Interstellar Coalition is not a fully functional power but an alliance between species. These species govern their people by their own laws, operate their own fleets, including military and conduct their own trade with whomever they want. There are several conditions that need to be accepted by all parties prior to joining, included is the sharing of all military intelligence of neighboring species, sharing of technology, joint exploration missions between members, free trade, military aid if one member of the Coalition comes under attack or is at war with a non-Coalition member. Finally if a species wishes to join they need to be seconded by at least one current species currently in the Coalition and a majority of members needs to approve the request.

The Coalition is ruled by a council made up of all member species, a elected spokesman is voted by the council to speak on behalf of the council. There is no official leader as it's an alliance and not an governing body.

For those of you who don't visit my DeviantART gallery here are some other older logo's I have done that either relate to this or to Star Trek in general.

We have updated logos and new ones.

First up is a remake of the Interstellar Coalition, made to fit in with my earlier made logos you'll see below. Each of the main stars in this logo are there to represent the four homeworlds of the founding four species. The other starts are there to represent the various systems and colonies that the species of the Coalition at it's founding have established.

Interstellar Coalition Logo 3.png

Next up is the UESPA logo, they are basically the Starfleet of TCW. Starfleet doesn't exist, UESPA is the exploration body of Earth. The U.E.S Enterprise is the first successful Warp 5 UESPA vessel. Yes there was another that didn't work, it went boom!
This logo is designed to look like the logo seen in Terra Prime on the floor of the chambers were Ambassadors of the proposed Coalition are meeting.

UESPA_Logo v3.png

Here we have the UESN, the military arm of Earth who's responsibility is to protect Earth and her colonies from outside forces and invasion. To their credit, the Xindi came out of the spacial vortex right on top of Earth behind their defense perimeter. Can't detect those vortex's. The MACO is the ground based part of the UESN. The UESN operate their own ships, however after the success of the U.E.S Enterprise who had a UESN Tactical Officer (Malcolm Reed) and the MACO Security Force, the UE Government made it standard that UESPA vessels have UESN Tactical Officers and MACO Security on board their vessels. This helped when the Romulan War started, UESPA and UESN forces worked together, even so UESN got 90% of Earth's Space budget during the war.

UESN_Logo v1.png

Last and not least, a Klingon Empire logo, just cause. Enough said, we're done here! :)

Thanks ChileTrek, glad you like the logos.

Onto something new, well old sort of, the Daedalus class. I decided to show a close up image of her and a little background info on the class.

DaedalusClass.jpg

[fieldset=Daedalus Class]Something I did a couple of weeks ago, I made the Daedalus class for my Coalition War project. I debated with myself for a long time if I was going to include it. Eventually I decided to as I had a spare position in the fleet and the Daedalus seemed ideal for the role.

If you have ever read the books Daedalus Part 1 and Part 2, you'll know where I got the back story from. I decided to run with it for the Coalition War timeline as it's a much more basic design and doesn't make sense for Earth to build the NX class then design and build the Daedalus class, it's like going backwards. So the class itself is reintroduced during the war as Earth needs numbers and so they shift their previous decision and go for quantity over quality.

There are dozens of Daedalus designs floating around on the web, re-designs, classic designs and all the designs in between. When building this model I took inspiration from several sources. In fact this is like my third Daedalus model, my previous one was too TOS like and so I scaled it back, using parts of it on this model. For a design I wasn't sure about, it has finished up very nicely and I rather like it.[/fieldset]

On another note I have been progressing very nicely with the models as of late. I still have the construction ship to finish modelling, a freighter and fighter to model from scratch and two combat ships to texture. Station wise I have in the past few days mapped all but 1 station which I plan to start either today or tomorrow. Then all I need to do is make the textures and with many of the stations being kitbashed from similar parts, it will also decrease the time it takes to texture them.

Well I am in the home stretch. I have finally mapped all the textures for the stations and now I only need to make them. With 10 models left to texture and 1 to build I am hoping by the end of the year to have all the models done for the Earth faction. With a beta release shortly thereafter.

The initial release will be a bare bones release, it will work but won't have an AI or many bells and whistles. But it will be workable.

I am looking for someone who wishes to help in the coding of this and any other project I plan to work on. Remember this is for FO and so someone with some experience in actually modding FO is required, emphasis on balance here. Also a graphic artist who can do weapon textures, as the stock FO ones will look out of place on ENT era ships. I plan to have the red plasma cannon style weapons as seen in the Broken Bow (the pilot episode). Please PM me if you're interested in either job. The coder won't be needed until after I get the models complete, so probably the end of the month or beginning of the new year, the GFX Artist can start right away. As always I am not in a mad rush so if volunteers wish to start after the holiday season that is fine.

I'll leave you with a list of all the stations, pictures show them fully mapped and ready for texturing.

Starbase
Starbase.png
Starting unit, only one can be built at any given time.

Outpost
Outpost.png
Smaller version of the Starbase, built as outposts in far flung sectors. In-game the player can build as many as they like.

Refinery
Refinery.png
Basic mining station.

Coalition Station
Coalition Station.png
Warp-in station, feature will be disabled in the initial release. Eventually it will warp in Interstellar Coalition units such as Vulcan, Andorian and Tellarite ships, plus a few minor allied ships.
Alternatively warps in the Yorktown and Ares classes. Those two will be available in the initial release, through this station.

Shipyard
shipyard.png
Builds the ships and repairs them.

Warp 5 Complex
Warp 5 Complex.png
Builds the ships, and doubles as a research station.

Hello:
Those designs are very cool, I also love the idea of having a main base and separate smaller outposts around the map.

I also like how the Daedalus class looks like, and you made a great work at it, specially the sphere/main hull (thank goodness I got a tutorial how to texture spheres, so theoretically I can make ships like that one too... we might test when summer break starts  ).

Keep it up!!!! :excited: .

Summer break will only start this friday or saturday for me :cry2: , because I still have one final class to pass and the final exam was placed at that time  , so that is why I am not very active (wow, what a surprise there :lol2: ).

But at least I am starting to get some ideas to try when i finally get vacations and that I am very glad to still be able to come here and take a look every now and then.

I have recently returned to this project and I am eager to give it one last good push to get it released. While it is only the Earth faction and that may be all that results from this project (at least for the foreseeable future) I am wanting to get this out before the end of summer, or at the very least before winter starts. I have about 10 models left to texture having modeled the freighter today... finally. This will be a beta, bare bones release but playable.

While I have already asked for a weapons texture creator privately, I am in need of someone good with Fleet Ops AI (I think they are exactly the same as stock A2). The rest I can do myself but I am no good with AI files and rather not mess with them myself or release the mod without AI files. This job won't be available till I get the mod in a working order, just started basic odf coding today on a non-live install, so a few weeks at the earliest before the job will become available.

I will also probably not be releasing every model I done for this project in the initial release, such designs as the Orion and Ares for example will probably come in an addon. So two sets of AI files would be good, one that omits the missing ships and one that includes them for the addon. If interested please feel free to post here or PM me. First in best dressed, however if two or more people volunteer and wish to work as a team on this, I'm more than happy with that arrangement. I might even be able to dedicate some more jobs if such a team did become the outcome of this post. If such a team is interested of course.

So I will leave it at that for now, keep an eye open, hopefully by the weekend after next I may have some progress to post up, including textured stations. :D

Well I haven't had a lot of time to work on the stations, however I have gotten some hardpointing and ODF work in. I also did some graphic work, fixing up the menus and did a new logo for the project.

TCW_logo_v3.png

I also got myself a scout now, going through my old models and recycling one. So that is all the models done, bar the fighter (which I'll probably just use the shuttle for now anyway). The major hurtle is now to texture close to a dozen models. Not fun, but I'll get there.

Oh and if anyone wants to work up an ODF ship list for units, let me know and I'll send you some info of what I am after.

Hello all,

Well I am back in action and still set for a 2013 release of the Earth faction. I have been a little slack in updating this thread, so my apologies for that. Not a great deal has been done from my last update as apart from getting distracted by Star Trek Online which I won't be returning to till the Earth faction of this mod is released, I have also moved from the city to the country. I even drove the truck, needing two trips that took 12 hours round trip and another 2-3 to unpack plus I had to pack the thing so they were long days. Glad they are over and the house is set-up for the most part now.

Anyway I am here to not only let everyone know I am back but what is happening with this mod. Firstly I only intend to release the Earth faction. At least for the foreseeable future. This is because the amount of work that goes into a faction makes it unrealistic to release another faction at this point. However never say never, I do still want to do the other races but it will probably be after Yesteryears, or at least the majority of Yesteryears is done. Again another mod I am doing solo since Syf has totally disappeared from online, last I heard he was doing some course to further his education and work possibilities.

So some news. Well to make things a little more realistic I decided to axed some unfinished designs from the mod. The Ares and Orion which are modelled (but not textured) won't be included in the first release of this project. I have high hopes that when I do a second faction I can finish them up and add them back in. I also wanted to let everyone know, apart from finishing off the construction ship, doing a stationary turret and do a fighter of some sort the modelling for the Earth faction is complete. I have all the stations mapped and texturing will start soon and the scout and mining freighter are complete modelling wise and just need mapping and texturing. So hopefully over the next few months I should be able to finish all this up and get a working beta going. Also Terra_Inc has done an outstanding pulse cannon weapon texture for me, as seen in Broken Bow.

So I want to reaffirm, that apart from any unanticipated set backs, like real life likes to throw at us, I should be able to get a Earth faction released for Christmas.

I'll leave you all with some renders of the Juno, Somerset and Daedalus by Jetfreak.

Juno (1).jpg Juno (2).jpg Juno (3).jpg
Daedalus (1).jpg Daedalus (2).jpg Daedalus (3).jpg
Somerset (1).jpg Somerset (2).jpg Somerset (3).jpg

Feel free to drop by and ask questions or chat about this mod. I'll be happy to see and participate in any discussions. :)

Thank you. :D

The Daedalus is bit of the odd one out even in TCW, but I wanted to include it and I decided to use the concept from the novels "Daedalus" and "Daedalus Children"to explain away it's different configuration. If you haven't read the novel here is a load down in spoiler tags so not to spoil it for anyone:

Basically back in 2140 the Daedalus was Earth's first Warp 5 design, long before the Enterprise. At the time Tucker was part of the design crew as a young Ensign. However the experimental CID Cascading Ion Drive engine was flawed and exploded killing all on board during it's trial maiden flight and the drive and design was scrapped in favor of Henry Archer's NX design.

Not including the Daedalus was my initial intention but some managed to convince me I should include her and it didn't feel right leaving her out but it was one ship that I took about 3-4 passes on until I got something that worked. I originally was using the one from Legacy and even re-textured it before realizing it didn't work for me, the 2nd attempt was too TOS like, the 3rd attempt was a kitbash of the earlier two and again didn't feel right. This version was inspired by a version that Adam Kopala (a friend off of DeviantART) did in high poly 3D.

Today I also started texturing stations, first texture that I have done in like 4-6 months. It's taking me a little to get back into the swing of things, but it is progressing. Pretty plain at the moment as I get all the detail in before I add the final effects to the layers. I'll post a screenshot when it's complete.
