I love how you're including many designs from Star Trek Legacy. Those ships are really the only reason I like to play that game.

Will you be having a variant of the Somerset that keeps the pylons that come from the bridge like the Minuteman had in Legacy?

The Somerset is a design by an artist who did use the Minuteman as inspiration, unlike the Minuteman the Somerset is a much smaller design. But to answer your question, no I won't be including the extra parts that the Minuteman has. Originally I was going to use the Minuteman as the construction ship long before I even thought of making my own Somerset class for this mod.

I never got anywhere with that other than some early modelling work, which included removing the parts you mentioned.

I have to agree about Legacy, the Earth ENT era designs were the best part of that game, a shame they didn't include the canon designs like the Neptune (aka Intrepid) and the Pioneer (aka Delta Warp). But I made my own anyway. One thing I discovered with the Legacy models is that some of them are done really poorly, not surprised considering game companies often lack the time needed to do real quality models thanks to managements unrealistic time frames. I was disappointed that the ENT era Romulans where just FASA designs from TOS thrown in rather than designing their own ENT Romulans designs. Doesn't matter I suppose as I already have a few designs for them if/when I get to them.

Thank you. :D

The Daedalus is bit of the odd one out even in TCW, but I wanted to include it and I decided to use the concept from the novels "Daedalus" and "Daedalus Children"to explain away it's different configuration. If you haven't read the novel here is a load down in spoiler tags so not to spoil it for anyone:

Basically back in 2140 the Daedalus was Earth's first Warp 5 design, long before the Enterprise. At the time Tucker was part of the design crew as a young Ensign. However the experimental CID Cascading Ion Drive engine was flawed and exploded killing all on board during it's trial maiden flight and the drive and design was scrapped in favor of Henry Archer's NX design.

Not including the Daedalus was my initial intention but some managed to convince me I should include her and it didn't feel right leaving her out but it was one ship that I took about 3-4 passes on until I got something that worked. I originally was using the one from Legacy and even re-textured it before realizing it didn't work for me, the 2nd attempt was too TOS like, the 3rd attempt was a kitbash of the earlier two and again didn't feel right. This version was inspired by a version that Adam Kopala (a friend off of DeviantART) did in high poly 3D.

Today I also started texturing stations, first texture that I have done in like 4-6 months. It's taking me a little to get back into the swing of things, but it is progressing. Pretty plain at the moment as I get all the detail in before I add the final effects to the layers. I'll post a screenshot when it's complete.

Those are some excellent looking models my friend. Personally, I think it is a good thing you decided to include her as in the Romulan War books, the Daedalus class played an important role.

Thanks mate, I aim to please. :lol2:

The Daedalus I felt deserved a place in the mod, as you say they played an important part in the Romulan War books (and the conflict itself) and were important in the early Federation even though in this mod the Federation will never form.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten my station complete yet, a few setbacks with the kids being sick and now Kat getting sick means I've been playing nurse and doing all the things that is usually split between Kat and myself. Plus I think I am starting to come down with something after fighting off a few days of migraines and now I am getting the sore throat etc. Hopefully I will be able to kick it before it gets too well established. I really want to get these models done and get a working beta out. Thanksfully 3-4 of the stations are almost kitbashes of each other and so the texturing on them after doing the first part will be a more cut and paste procedure with few new additions. Though I will probably change a few things around just so they don't feel so kitbashey (is that a word? lol).

I would say I am a little under half way through the texture of this model, though now starts the really detailed part of the texture. Perhaps by the weekend as I do have one day out to run over to another town to get supplies, that leaves me with 2 days to get this done which with any luck I won't need all for. :)

Good news everyone! As Professor Farnsworth would say.

I got my station texture complete despite a few hiccups along the way. Like realizing some of the lights where the wrong size after spending like 30 mins on them lol. I was surprised I got it finished today (11PM). BUt it's the first of many.

Here are some screenshots.

EarthShipyard01.png EarthShipyard02.png EarthShipyard03.png EarthShipyard04.png

This is the first texture I have made using CS6, so I had to fiddle a bit to get it to match my ships. Overall I am quite happy with it, though I might do a few minor tweaks on it. This is the smaller of the two shipyards, which also doubles as a repair yard. The Neptune class can be seen in a few images I used it to get window sizes and colour matching right for the station. Tomorrow I'll see if I can start on a 2nd station.

Straight back into the game eh Majestic?

I really like your take on the yard. Lots of subtle detailing here and there (The yellow/black bars is a nice touch). It really brings out the industrial feel of the thing.

Just don't let that sore throat get to ya'. Keep it up bro.

Yeah straight back into it. Decided to avoid video games until I can get this done, though I might squeeze in a game of AOE3 here and there.

I was following the high poly version images from the model that appeared on the show (from Drexfiles) but after a certain point I went my own way, which is probably no surprise. I added the hazard construction yellow and black lines as I wanted to keep the construction/industrial look going and thought it was a nice way of doing it.

Thanks, the sore throat is gone atm. I am still battling against the bug and I am pretty impressed I haven't gotten sick yet, I get the first signs then they are gone then they are back again and then they are gone. Moving to the country must have improved my immune system. :lol2:

The Warp 5 Complex is complete, took me a few days to complete a bit longer than the previous shipyard. While doing this texture I learnt that the model isn't as accurate as I thought to the design seen in Broken Bow. Oh well I wasn't about to re-make the model I may sometime down the track do a more accurate version and use this one as a variant.

This station in the mod doubles as a yard and research station. I also decided (mainly due to the lack of references) to do some experimentation with the textures, like adding the UESPA logo on the top. Let me know what you think!

That does look great Majestic, really like the looks. The design of the model looks like it animates and the sides rotate in/out depending on the size of the ship? Is this the case or just the way it looks?

The sheer scale of the thing is impressive, you certainly delivered the goods with this one sir. Well done!

Though to be honest I'd delete the upper logo. Its a bit too cheeky for my taste but that's just a minor quirk.

I can't wait to see your take on the period-era starbases. Are you going with classic mushroom ethos or do you have something completely new in mind?

Ditto all of the above - both of these yards are really nice pieces of work
And +1 for the hazard stripes - makes it look more industrial... which being a ship yard it should be.

I love the hazard stripes on the shipyard as well (and I agree that the logo on top doesn't look the best). Again, just a personal thing

It's just the way it looks, I mean I could (when I learn to do animations) make it animate, but this is the ENT era and one of the focuses I decided upon when starting the project was to take a simple approach to show the less sophisticated technology and time compared to TOS/TMP. I am glad you like the design.

Thanks Jet, a page or two ago I did post the images of the starbases and stations that I have done. Hellkite and a couple of others really helped me evolve them as to start with they were way too TOS. Using the modular/industrial approach I managed to get several unique stations done. Most are actually kitbashed from each other, cutting down texture time. But they are also unique in appearance and don't look like cheap kitbashes either.

Here is a link to the post: http://www.msfc.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=3999&page=34&p=90742&viewfull=1#post90742

I plan on starting either the Starbase, Outpost or Coalition Station today. Once I get one or two of these complete the texturing should be pretty fast as all I will need to do is cut, paste and position with some minor tweaks to make them feel unique.

I love the hazard stripes on the shipyard as well (and I agree that the logo on top doesn't look the best). Again, just a personal thing

Yeah I am sure some will like it, others won't. For the time being I am going to leave it as is. I might go back and take another look at it down the track, or make a variant texture allowing people to pick and choose. However for now, I have spent enough time on that station and time to move on. Lets see if I can get 3 stations textured this week. I have today and tomorrow to see if I can. My initial aim was to get one complete each week, so if I get the next one done I am already two weeks ahead.

Yes the industrial look was something I was aiming for with my stations and so I wanted texturing to also reflect this. Thank you very much, I am glad you like them. :)

Yes congratulations. the only thing I could think of that would be higher praise would be for them to get into a ships of the line calender. :)

Thanks Starfox, perhaps after I learn 3D Max I might look at making a high poly version of 1 or 2 of them and see what happens. :)

Hello:
Those shipyards look awesome. I love the colours you chose for them as well as those yellow details. Also the lights in the inner parts are very very cool-looking :) .

Keep it up!.

Well this was a very unexpected treat. I wasn't here back when you first worked on this mod but I love the sharp beauty of the ships that you have created, the textures pop against the background of space. I also like the original designs you came up with, particularly the Yorktown.

Thanks for making these beauties available to us, I already got em tearing into ancient Romulans ingame.

You're welcome mate. I have 2 shipyards and another 4 ships to release yet. I have other stations too but I never got around to texturing them unfortunately. I'll release those as well in case anyone want's to finish those up.

I don't know when I'll get to releasing those as I have to write up a hardpoint map and do all that kind annoying stuff to release a ship/model. I also need to hardpoint the 2 shipyards. But I do intend on releasing those so everyone can enjoy them.

I've got heaps of incomplete models in various stages. Nothing I'll probably get around to completing for the simple fact is I don't have the time nor the motivation.

This is some excellent work, Maj. I agree with Archonon, the Yorktown is kick-ass. Probably my favorite of the six.

I should dig up an old A2 install and take these beauties for a spin.
