Hello:
I agree, attacking in numbers is good against huge stations, specially if you have many smaller ships that can screen the enemy fire from the bigger ships while delivering some damage on their own. But I guess to prepare for that battle was not easy, specially if you have to defeat the enemy's fleet before you can get close to that base :naughty:.

Preparing was quite heart pounding... holding off their big ships while you build up a fleet is quite a challenge. It's even more nerve racking in multiplayer (although it's quite the opposite feeling when you're the Ekoset player mowing down ships left and right :D)

Good news I suppose... I'm almost ready to release this on MSFC. All five races are done finally and I've polished them up over the last two weeks. I'm just touching up on a few of the NPC races and working on maps now. For a long time I've stuck with just sprites and have been hesitant to use FO's SOD torpedoes, but I finally did and was able to add in lens flare effects to a few weapons. JJ Abrams haters beware. :lol2:

After about a good week of modeling and texturing I think I'm coming close to finishing another cinematic model. This time it's the Sov character known as Broker. She's one of my personal favorite characters from the game and my preferred Sov avatar:

:lol2: Thats creepy. I just did the same thing in my own mod. I just converted all my main weapons to SOD's like the rest of FO's weapons.

That weapon effect looks absolutely awesome! Hard to believe that is A2 :)

And your Broker is also quite good modeling work.
You really have talent, Undying_Nephalim.

Absolutely awesome. Mind allowing me a look in the texture file (provided that it isn't SOD based)? I've never seen this type of thing done before.

I presume you mean the textures for the lens flare weapon. I'm about to release the mod here in a day or so, but I'll give you the texture names ahead of time.

w_jesstorp1.tga
lensflare1.tga
lensflare2.tga

The idea was inspired by Yacuzza's use of lens flares on suns in his Tactical Assault mod. After examining the sun's SOD's I used the same method for these torps with lens flares.

Nice... I would like to contribute if at all possible. Anywhere I can help?

After I release the next version I'll be actively seeking out voice overs. The mod is in desperate need of those.

I took a few weeks off from working on Sigma. I thought the multiplayer release was a nice milestone... but alas I cannot rest forever. As megadroid works on adding more features into MMM I've been field testing the tools and starting on the single player missions for the game. What that last release was missing was the "story mode," which I do hope will be the big giant highlight of the game. I've started working on the cinematics and choreography for that, and here's a few still shots from one of them.

Those familiar will recognize this insectoid character as Broker, a mechanic and droid manufacture that works for the newly established Sov military. She's a bit of a dear character to me, and I do hope the dark lighting and creepy atmosphere will set a nice dichotomy for what is to be a very touching scene. I guess the verdict will come in when I finish animating it.

Awesome. Never seen something like this for A2. Most people didn't even care for the SPCampaign before MMM. Putting real CGI into the campaign is revolutionary.

A touching scene? With bugs? :p
No matter what it is, I'm sure you can pull it off excellently. :worship:

Wow!

That's some real quality stuff, you really have a bright future ahead if you can turn this gift into a job of some sort.

Beautiful work, rep worthy!

:Y I am truly unable to express how amazing that looks TUN, seriously outstanding work. Like Terra says this has never been done for A2 before, it may actually be the most professional piece of modding I've seen for any game at all.

I greatly look forward to seeing more, you continue to outdo yourself so I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for

Truthfully, this is the first time (I think) that I've gone through and looked at this project in detail, and **** you've got talent. I know Thunderfoot has already said this, but you've sure got the skill to go in to some of the bigger game companies; to think that what you've produced already is merely 'for fun' and in your own time, imagine what you could do when getting paid. ;)

Seriously though, some solid stuff here. Am loving the artwork and cinematic stuff. I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure. When is it released? - If you've even got a release date?

Scratch that, I've just read the thread on 'Sigma Releases'. I'm not yet able to download from MSFC, and it seems that's the only place you're hosting 2.0.

Aye, as Dominus said it can also be downloaded on A2 files, specifically here: Sigma Beta 2.0 Mod Download, Star Trek: Armada 2 Mods It's also on ModDB too. I should have an update patch coming out sometime soon hopefully. All depends on when the next FO patch arrives.

That's only due to having come off a ban recently it actually should be much longer till you are able to download, in fact you have 1 and 1/2 weeks left then you'll be able to download.

In that other thread, it specifically stated MSFC. I didn't think to try A2Files. :)

I'll be giving this a try over the coming weekend. ;)

I know that, I was merely stating the fact. :)

Well as usual it seems like the next patch for Fleet Ops is still a bit away. Me and my nature do not agree with waiting, so I've decided to just add in more stuff to the Sigma patch that will follow the FO one. I'm thinking of adding in some more wildlife creatures, and for the first one I pulled out these guys from my forgotten file bin and finished them up:

These creatures are known as the Trilboli, a Zevestivan given name that was adopted by the other races. They are harmless for the most part and mostly mind to themselves as they travel around in long trails across the map. When threatened though they excrete an unstable compound that latches onto the hull of ships that happen to pass by and then explode.

Hello:
I like the pic very much! It is awesome to see some wildlife in the Armada (specifically in this case, FleetOps) environment. This is sure a great original touch for your super-mod.

Keep it up!.

I have Wednesday and Thursdays off, and Sundays I usually have time for games. For whatever reason there's some new holiday this Friday that I have off too so I should be open for online matches this week.

Wildlife has always been something I felt Trek games needed, especially after well made episodes featuring the Crystalline Entity and the Junior creatures. A1 sort of had the space born stuff going on with Species 9341, a pity it did not continue in A2. Here's hoping that they put all that good stuff in Fleet Ops down three road (which I'm pretty sure Optec is planning)

Hello:
Well, that is sure something very promising and interesting to look forward to. I love to see organic species flying around, maybe that is why I remade Species8472 and made the Farscape's Leviathans ;).

Keep it up with your mod! I love it's unending originality .
