Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.
I'm not so good at Fleet Ops either, I've only won one tournament match and lost all others and I think I only won because no one expected me to spam Breen Cruisers.
I'll be roaming on Tunngle today and the following two days I suppose.
I still got a lot of pages to look though but I like this mod!
Got a question. How did you do lense flares? This is armada right? I didn't think either A1 or A2 was capable of that.
That is really cool! I will most definitely need to borrow that idea to help make the nearby stars look more realistic in the game I am making.
I am envious. When I had the old Warlords Modding Union going we never had our own music developer on the team. That is a huge plus for any mod!
Here we are introduced to the Sov character known as Broker.
The scene was made, animated, and rendered in Maya 2011. Took about 3 months and is approximately 4000 frames (24 fps). I now understand why companies hire large teams to make cinematics...
Hello:
That was simply amazing, the ammount of detail, the ambient, the music, it is all magnificent. I wish you were able to do more stuff more quickly, but rest assured, what you are doing is just awesome and far beyond anything else I have seen for this game, even better than the game's own cinematics.
@Chiletrek
I'd love to progress faster, sadly I have to wait for some more of the FO dev tools to really progress in finishing the single player campaign, not to mention voiceovers for everyone. These cinematics also take a ridiculously long time to make, just this one here pooped me out and makes me want to hire a team to do it all. Sadly I don't got the money yet.
@thunderfoot
1) I'd not mind getting paid... hopefully one day though Sigma can be published. I don't wish to spread rumors, but I've heard news that Fleet Ops might go stand alone and that the armada engine is up for grabs. I'm confident if anyone can get rights to the engine it's the FO team, and I'm even more confident they'd like a game published under their watch.
2) I do sort of have a portfolio online and my work on a few websites, but alas no one professional has contacted me yet. Maybe one day though...

That would be awesome, on both accounts. It would be good if they could get the rights to a Star Trek licence as it would mean a A3 could become a reality.
Have you tired DeviantArt? A lot of companies look at that site for upcoming artistic talent. Many animators who work on the Simpsons started out doing fan art on DA.

Not quite accurate. A mod team for Elite Force has got the go-ahead to go standalone. Someone pointed that out on the FlOps forum and suggested they ask about going standalone with Armada. But there's no indication this it happening, or even that it will at all, it's just a suggestion/hope, not news.
There has been talk about FlOps going standalone for years, based on various things, rumours and the like. I wouldn't be too quick to get your hopes up. It might happen, but it might not.
Who isn't ? Srsly, how can one not know this game? Still holds the title of best game ever, IMO. I'm glad I still have my N64. I must have played this game longer than anything else. Saw you doing your LoZ things some time ago and was rather surprised when I saw you over at FO.

@Atlantis
Again, just a rumor. I talk to the Devs and Dominus often and hear all sorts of crazy things.
@Terra_Inc
It's just such a timeless game, it and the sequel Majora's Mask. Most of the modern Zelda games are just puny in comparison (and some of them I do find insulting to the source material, but that's just me.)
Hello:
I don't have an account on DA yet, but I do have plans for one. If I make one, can I add you to my watch or favourties or whatever they are called? .

One the notable features that Fleet Operations introduced was the inclusion of Mixed Tech. Available in multiplayer matches, players that teamed up with different races had access to hybrid technologies and other unique ships developed between both species. Sigma will include a similar system, with tweaks and changes to help add variety. At the moment in Fleet Operations mixed tech comes in the form of ships with bonuses or added special weapons. In Sigma the hybrid technology can be found in many more areas, including upgrades that improve system performance, alter the rate of fire of ships, and of course grant access to unique ships like in Fleet Operations. Each race prefers to adapt the technologies of their allies differently. For instance the aggressive Zevestivan prefer to take the best weapons of their comrades and slap them unto the hulls of their ships. The V.R.A. on the other hand prefer to reverse engineer the concepts behind alien technology and improve their own, such as adding plasma cores to their ballistic missiles.
Here's just a sample of the hybrid technologies that will appear in the next patch:
Zevestivan Hybrid Technologies
- The Zevestivan receive the following mixed tech when allied with:
Ekoset Hybrid Technologies
- The Ekoset receive the following mixed tech when allied with:
Zevestivan: UV Mines
V.R.A.: UV Missile System
Sov: Mass-Compound Cargo Holds
Mylock: Solar Pulse Canons
And this is just the initial batch for the next patch. Further patches will add in more mixed tech, even more so when Fleet Ops implements their new mixed tech concepts down the road.
I finished up another cinematic 3D model, this time one of Aabtani.
I've also finished up all the mixed tech stuff for the next patch, just going to spend the next week stamping out bugs and spelling errors in the tooltips.
