• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Why? Because I can. What more reason does anyone need?

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Since I am doing up as complete a set of build buttons and wireframes as I can possibly make, I have need of a fresh A2 install. In the process of making one up. So far, I have Yacuzza's and FahreS' stuff working together but I need to go back and return the latinum nebulae to their Stock version, which I prefer. My planets and physics are in as well. Thinking about doing Admiral's Log pics, too, since these usually get left until last or left out just like build buttons and wireframes. Did a quick head count of just the Fed ships I want to do and the number is at eighty five(!) and climbing. I also want to doo buttons for kjc733's and my Colonials and cylons, Dan's Vulcans and Cardassians, along with the Terrans Jetfreak and I have done, and the few STXI ships available as well. I have an STXI fleet nearly complete, missing only stations and special weapons.

Actually, that is the first run set of textures for the Terran Oberth. I am not really all that happy with them. I think could have done a bit better.

A2pp x - 2012

As of this writing I am entering the final playtest and data check phase for the latest version of the A2 Physics Project. Called, A2PP X - 2012, it is as much about the appearance of the game as the physics and weapons this time around. Although it will stand alone, it is built and tested on a Stock 1.1 install which has Yacuzza's Midnight Universe v2.01 also applied. It includes the following:

- Improved physics for all Stock ships and stations.
- Better photon torpedo sprites.
- Starfox1701's truly perfect Romulan TOS Plasma Torpedo. Upgraded for the TNG era.
- Terra_Inc's Cardassian pulse and photon
- Icewolf132's race specific phaser flares.
- CABAL's shield mods
- CptBenSisko's neat little piece of code which makes the beam, the shield impact and flare, and the weapons sound all match each other.
- My slightly better Klingon death chant.
- My Klingon disruptor weapon.
- Better RTS_cfg, ART_cfg, and Dynamic Strings files. Which come from the Improved Single Player Campaign v2.0.
- All the new planets I did with Robert Stein's wonderful planet textures.
- A few other things I cannot remember right now.

Nope. Still retired from modding A2. Had to extract a zipped copy of an A2 install from one of my thumb drives and decided since I got all this to work together anyway, might as well harvest the lot and send it in. Testing has been on a Stock install patched to 1.1 to which MU2.01 added in as well. So far everything looks promising. The very few hiccups have been mostly of the, "I got fat fingered in the keyboard. Again." variety. Total unzipped file size is ~ 130Mb. So I'll probably send it in via a retrieval code from YouSendIt. But enough chat. You want pics and this is a pics thread. Acknowledged. Who knew the Stock ships would look so...elegant this way? rofl.

Yes, it does, Z. All UI information is removed when you tap PRNT-SCRN. The captures are saved as uncompressed .jpg files to: C:\Program Files ( x86)\ Cryptic Studios\ Star Trek Online\ Live\ screenshots folder. Here are some combat scenes and something I found amusing. Seems Lieutenant Thunderfoot1007 has a little Rihannsu in the family tree somewhere. Saw this scheme in the shipyard and couldn't resist, lol. From some of the scenics in game, I'd say it's a pretty fair guess some of the art team at Cryptic looked at a few pics from Jetfreak, Dan1025 and FleetOps. There are some style elements in the screens which cannot have come from anywhere else.

Nice!:Y Does the game automatically remove UI?
Yes, it does. Screencaps are saved as .jpgs in C:\ Programs ( x86)\ Cryptic Studios\ Star Trek Online\ Live\ screenshots folder. And since I have a few more, I'll post them.
Must be a little Rihannsu somewhere in my family tree. Saw this scheme in the yards and just had to use it, lol.

And now, for something a little creepy. In a fun sort of way. While waiting for my Duty Officers to complete their assignments in STO, and being very close for promotion to Lt Cmdr, I had to do something. So I went to the Tailor and played around a bit. The character controls in STO are very detailed. I decided to see just how close I could get. I was surprised and a little freaked out at the result. It isn't an exact match because I do not shave my head all of the time. It totally creeped my daughter out. She shrieked, "Eye Bleach! Now!", and ran off. Ladies and Gentlemen. Presenting...me! lol. Or at least a stylized version of me. Whom is in far better shape, about twenty kilos lighter, and also twenty years younger.

A New A2 Map from Uncle Thunder!

Necro Thread, Come Forth!

Wow. Been a long time since I visted the place. STO junkie now, what can I say? A2 isn't entirely done with me yet, lol. My disc is kaput, but I still have the Demo Copy which is free and I have nearly figured out how to place my custom install into it. As a trial run, I decided to make a new map. Here are the pics. Be sending this along to the uploaders just as soon as I get done with this post. Took me this morning to make this and most of that was spent thinking about what kinds of things I wanted to include and how I wanted the map to play. As I said I am now an STO junkie(This is not a game! This is a lifestyle choice! lmao) and I've always been a fan of the 'less is more' approach. So I made a 2 player map which is inspired by and loosely based on the maps in STO. If it meets with approval and I can figure out a few more things, I'll make some more STO based A2 maps.

Nice work Uncle Thunder, amazing how much modding can be done with the demo alone, sweet lighting and planet glow. :D

I made an Ooopsie. Wrong ReadMe included with file. New .zip file enroute with corrected ReadMe. Apologies.

Old Business - Done! Onward. I've just finished a second STO Themed map and it is enroute as well. I've got the A2 Demo working okay but there are still some hiccups.

Thats a purty Akira T, who made it?
That is k_merse's. I think he ported it over from BC. I do know he spent a great deal of time reworking the mesh and placing the hardpoints correctly. You'll not find a better Akira anywhere, IMO.

Uploaded. I find it rather ironic that you have submitted so many A2 mods recently despite not currently having A2, lol.

Indeed. I have backup copies in .zip and .rar formats of everything I've ever done. Along with copies of the more interesting and well done mods which have caught my eye over the years. I also have a copy of my last custom install. This all comes to about 10.3 GB in size. I've no idea at all what size it would be if all of the files were unzipped. I wanted to see if I could make the Demo work with all of the addons I have. But two maps and some sound files are not really all that many mods, are they? Nor did any of these require any significant effort or skill on my part. I find map making easy and enjoyable. I spent maybe four hours working on each map. The sound stuff came about mostly because I was ticked off I couldn't get the ambient sounds to work for some of the Twelve Colonies planets I did. Took about five minutes to figure out why. Took about two hours to find the right sound effects to start from and then took about forty five minutes per sound to get them to what I sent in.
