• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

My new mouse finally got here. It's taking a while to get used to what with being a different size, shape, weight, and having more buttons. It also took a while to get the DPI and sensitivity settings to something I liked. The hardest part is that it's heavier than I'm used to so at first I was wondering if I should have shelled out the extra cash for the version with a carbon fiber body. I'm more used to it now, but it definitely took some adjustment. Now I'm trying to decide if I prefer the LEDs on or off.

To all GeForce card owners: open up the Nvidia Control Panel, go to the Manage 3D Settings area, then the Global Settings tab, and check your Power Management Mode setting. A recent driver update added a new 'optimal power' mode for some cards and made it the default. This is a power saving mode that hampers performance. You want to set it to 'adaptive' like it was before.

Done, and thanks. :D

Now I don't play too many games at the moment, but this would help. :)

Was reading a story on the new Ford Class USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier and saw that the third ship of the 3 ship class will be the USS Enterprise CVN-80 slated to begin construction in 2018. Go big E.

Hopefully they will have ironed out all the systems issues and cost overruns.

So, today I learned that if some of the more pessimistic models of climate change are correct, I'm probably going to witness the end of mankind myself, in about 50 years from now. And while I, as a Lovecraftian, do appreciate the chance to see it all go down the drain, I'm really sad that there will be no future humanity to appreciate the works of our (the last) generations. Also, Zefram Cochrane probably won't have the chance to invent the Warp Drive, which sucks.

Accordingly, I'm in a really apocalyptic mood today. Will probably be blasting MCR in the MSFC staff room later today.

On the bright side, there's evidence that it's actually starting to turn around. The biggest problem-country now is China, and even they're starting to get their act together.

I'm personally hoping for more efforts to produce geothermal plants. Perfectly clean power, no need to refuel, and they only stop functioning when the core goes cold or the Earth ceases to be spherical. Doesn't really solve vehicles, but still great.

You know there's a lot of "End-times" videos across Youtube nowadays. Between the weekly terror attacks (seriously, will it stop?!), "Cold War 2.0", Turkey nearly going to crap, and China's pacific land grabbing, one can't help feel pessimistic...

Anyway, a well deserved hurrah for SciFiFan! :)

I have now officially joined the Xbox One family. I got a $100 gift card with the purchase plus the store payed the sales tax. Got the 500 Gb choose your game bundle. Now I just have to decide which game to get: Forza 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay.

It will probably help to get and play the 2013 Tomb Raider first. I haven't played Rise, but the first one was fantastic.

So, I've been thinking about setting up an IRC channel for us MSFCians. If you're interested in chatting with your fellow Sci-Fi fans and gamers, let me know and I'll set one up! :)

I just found out that The Clone Wars almost featured Revan. Apparently, they were going to have a sequence involving Sith force ghosts, and include Bane, Revan, and several others in the line-up, then they remembered that force ghosts were a light-side thing so they cut it. So close to making Revan, and by extension, KotOR, official again.:cry:

I just discovered that if you cut your finger in just the right way, you damage a nerve and experience excruciating pain the likes of which I haven't felt since I twisted my knee and audibly heard the cartilage tear. On the bright side, it goes away in about an hour and doesn't bleed very long. In related news, it's more difficult than you would think to type without using one of your index fingers.

Try typing while you can't feel your pinky or half of your ring finger. Cubital tunnel syndrome makes stuff challenging

So apparently my current Windows 10 machine can run A2. Which is good, but I'm not sure I want to go back to modding. I would have the time right now, and I still wanna see Wastelands or something similar realized. But on the other hand, a lot of the excitement about modding A2 has worn off, and the engine's restrictions start to really frustrate me. *kitteh sigh*

That really is why if I do anything, it will be models only. I don't even have any of the Armada games installed right now. I will be doing ship models only.

How much do you have left to do for the Wastelands? Do you need odf work done? Play testing? Or more in depth like model/textures/sprites?

I have all the models and textures I need, and the majority is already in the game. It's really just ODF work at this point. I say "just", but I've been stuck on this for years. I've refined the balance concept again and again, but I found myself losing motivation once I started implementing it.
