It is mis leading, because the only way to get all 8 ships is to buy the pack 3 times, the way they did it.

Also, I get it, the cynicism can be alot for STO, but when you get 2 quests/missions and a TFO every six months, but a new thing to buy 1-4 times a month, it can become something quite frustrating, despite F2P. I mean, they are giving away 1 free ship over this year's event, but if $4K worth of stuff comes out in the store, its easy for them to justify giving away a potential $200 item. The big problem they have atm, is minimal content updates, and alot of different things to pay their bills, and they need better balance there

ISS_Enterprise_D is correct. The bundle is for ANY THREE (3) packs. Depending on which three packs you pick, you can get up to seven T6 ships.

*Corrected number of ships from eight to seven.*

They just updated the press release for this new bundle.

We're adding a special version of the pack on PC! The Mudd's MEGA Into Darkness and Beyond Bundle is a one stop purchase to obtain all eight items in the pack at once! The pack contains all eight items, no choices needed. It will also launch on 6/10, for 60000 Zen, but will be 50% off until 6/24 at 10am PT. Here's how it works:

  • The MEGA Into Darkness and Beyond Bundle will appear in Midd's Market at the same time as the Into Darkness and Beyond Choice Pack
  • This is a once per account purchase. When purchased, it will disappear from the store. If you'd like, you can still purchase the Into Darkness and Beyond Pack for more of the non-ship items.
  • Purchasing the MEGA Into Darkness and Beyond Bundle will drop an item in your inventory, that you can unpack to receive the items.
  • If you wish to buy both the MEGA Into Darkness and Beyond Bundle and the Into Darkness and Beyond Choice Pack, you must purchase the bundle first. Any purchase of the Choice Pack will cause the Bundle to disappear from the store.

Then its a change in their sales, because that is a one off compared to every other bundle of this type. So, good for them, and also I dont read their blogs, they have a good habit of changing once stuff actually hits the ingame.

Second, the mega bundle was expected, its become a growing trend for them, that apparently is paying off, so cheers to that business decision :)

I watched the video where they talked about this ship. This was actually based on a concept sketch for Voyager. I don't care for the design myself but you can use the T1 parts. It does have a really high shield modifier but hull modifier is a little low.

I love that they still upgrade ships that are 100+ years old. And it's funny that they are actually look better than any of the original STO designs. Excluding Romulans. Romulan ships are awesome.

Yeah, STO original Romulan ships are usually really, really good looking (shame they're a minor faction). I just don't understand how they always manage to screw up their Fed and Klingon ships when they can literally do anything they want.

It's not like there aren't a lot of 24th century+ designs for the Oberth out there already. I guess they want to not re-use parts, but really that's just weird for its own sake.

the Nova class is the 24th century+ design to replace the Oberth class

I'll confess, I don't know why the Malakowski was added to the Genesis pack...
As for the Nova, for some reason STO doesn't seem to want to make a T6 Nova, which is a shame because the T5 model really sucks. I mean, they've given some of the new T6 ships two quality passes. Even more peculiar, STO have run two polls which the Nova won and they ignored the results of both. In fact, they've since made all the other ships except the Nova on one of the polls
The argument is that "science ships don't sell," sooo.... what's the Oberth? And any ship will sell if you put a half decent console on it (not that I'm advocating power creep).
Anyway, it's time to chill out and sunbathe on Risa.

I think they just *had* the Malakowski to hand. But you're right, it's not connected thematically. Should have been a new Bird of Prey or something. Maybe even the Merchantman.

The T6 Reliant would have made the best sense for this pack thematically. They probably went with the T6 Malakowski because they had already released the Reliant. It may explain why they gave the T6 Malakowski access to the Miranda variants parts. I also agree that a new T6 bird of prey would have been neat.

So having just released the T6 Malakowski with Miranda parts (and a Legendary Romulan bundle), they are now releasing a Legendary Miranda in yet another bundle!
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/s...the-legendary-tos-federation-captain's-bundle

Is it just me or is this looking more and more like an excessive money grab? While it's timed well to go with the rerun of AoY, it does seem a bit silly to release two Mirandas (come on, who bought the Malakowski because it was a Malakowski?) to be release so close together. I can imagine that there may also be a few annoyed customers as the Legendary variant gets the TOS skin.

AoY rerun details:

It is a cash grab. With a free to play model, can't really blame them from getting money from somewhere. Yes, so many different variant of the same ship is excessive. I must say though that they did a marvelous job on the TOS skin.

Well, I’m probably never going to get either because I don’t really need a new ship. I’m perfectly happy with the ships I’ve currently got, and I don’t feel like getting more (at least for now).

STO has been a cash grab since STO went free to play. As SFF said, they got to get their money from somewhere though the legendary ships are very excessive. Why not just make skins for the existing ships and pump them out and throw them up cheaper. Though I suppose with people willing to buy and do buy the excessively priced legendary ships why would they stop.

My general thing around STO is just to never ever try and get lucky with those lockboxes and special R&D things; it just isn't worth the money. I've mained the same t6 assault cruiser for the past 3 years and the only other time I've paid money for a ship (t5 engineering Odyssey) was when they were dishing out t5s for free earlier this year and I had to buy the upgrade token for it to actually be useful (ok, I also splurged for a Mirror Sovereign on the exchange once, but that wasn't with real money.)

Yeah I learnt that one a long time ago. Better to sell the keys on the exchange and slowly buy the ship off the exchange. If you're a lifetime member the stipend is the best way to do this and basically costs you nothing.

When Cryptic was a part of Atari, the game was a paid subscription based game. Everything sold in the C-Store was cosmetics only. Big problem was that Atari was on the brink of collapse at the time and would not support Cryptic with equipment or allow them to hire anyone else. When Atari sold Cryptic to Perfect World, that is when the free to play model started. Personally I think was a good thing. Yes the cash grab sucks for us poor people but the quality of the game has improved dramatically. Yes there are bugs and flaws but it has come a long way from where it was in year one.

I don't have a problem with Cryptic charging for a ship, even the excessive amounts of money that they do. My issue is that they seem to be cranking out Tier 7s (in all but name) at an astounding rate and justifying the fact the cost is double that of a Tier 6 by adding misc filler to the pack instead of just selling the ship.
For example:
A single T6 Multi Mission Explorer costs 3000z.
A three pack of T6 Multi Mission Explorers costs 6000z.
The 9 pack cross faction set of T6 Multi Mission Explorers costs 12000z.
The Temporal Agent pack costs 15000z and includes:
- 7x T6 ships
- 5x Tier 1-5 ships
- 6x outfits
- 3x Tech Upgrades
- an EVA suit
- and a BOff

Or we can buy a "Legendary" pack (and I question the use of the term legendary for some of them) for 12000z which includes:
- 1x T7 ship (plus all lower tier skins)
  • 1,000,000 Energy Credits
  • 1,000,000 Expertise
  • 250,000 Reputation Dilithium Vouchers
  • 5x Specialization Qualifications
  • 5x Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrades (no Dilithium cost to apply)
  • 36x Inventory Slots
  • 12x Bank Slots
  • 6x Bridge Officer Slots
  • 2x Starship Slots
  • A FULL SUITE of Very Rare (Purple) Mk XIV Ground Equipment and Space Equipment
  • 6x Very Rare (Purple) TOS-Era Bridge Officers
Now we can compare the cost of all the filler material and I'm sure it would come to more than 12000z. But half of it is only really useful to a new player (who is unlikely to want to shell out a ton of money early in the game), while a long time player probably doesn't need half of it. I've not maxed out a single character yet, but it just doesn't strike me as worth it. Especially as with the collapse of the exchange the only way to purchase it is with real money, and it's a lot of money in a single purchase for a bunch of pixels.

I agree. I would love the new TOS Miranda ship/skin. I would buy it if they offered it by itself. I bought the Clarke by itself instead of the Genesis bundle because the Grissom class did not interest me. I don't understand the legendary tag either as the Miranda did not technically exist until Wrath of Kahn.

The new Mirror arc has started. I actually enjoyed the new episode Firewall. Unfortunately this means yet another 20 step event, this time it earns the T6 Mirror Gagarin.

As part of this there is a giveaway Mirror Gear pack. This includes:
  • Discovery Era Terran Empire Uniform
  • Terran Empire Odyssey Uniform
  • 1 Terran Empire Sonic Phaser High Density Beam Rifle
  • 1 Terran Empire Sonic Phaser Stun Pistol
  • 1 Mirror Universe Agony Rifle
  • 1 Duel Ambush Turrets Kit Module
  • 1 Small XP Boost

The weapons can only be claimed once. There seems to be some debate on the forums as to whether or not this also applies to the uniforms as the official answer is that they are account unlocks but some people claim they have tried it. So choose wisely...

Anyway, lotsa links on this one:

I really wish it wasn't back to back with the 4th stage event.
