I actually quite like that. I like how the sponsons organically blend in. But the lack of any nacelle structure makes it seem a little unfinished to me.
My understanding is that this is going to be another pack ship rather than an individual ship. 5k zen I think I saw somewhere for the T6 and the lower tier hulls.

I really hope they offer it as a single ship. I already own the lower tier Steamrunner so ponying up 5k zen on a pack for one ship is a waste of money.

I quite like it, will probably be an escort unfortunately. If it was a science ship I'd grab it without a second thought provided it's not an insanely overpriced legendary ship

Oh that is something fierce. I love how it harks back to the original Steamrunner concept art, a more curvy design closer to the Sovereign style.

:lol2: To be said the development on the game hasn't been a lot in the past 12 months so I think it's certainly winding down. Probably on it's last legs considering the money creep in the game. They'll probably at somepoint just stop development and just leave the servers etc open with no development. Just my gist on it tbh. Perhaps the lack of development has to do with the state the world has been in the last couple of years too. Either way I do agree, the less people buy the overly expensive stuff the less they have to charge to make a sale.

I can now confirm that the new Steamrunner will purchasable either alone or part of a bundle.

Well that's certainly better than a number of the recent things.

Though to echo above - be careful spending money on it, you are getting nothing but temporary pixels.
Doesn't help that the Dilithium exchange is still stuffed.

Gotta agree, 90% or more of their development basically reminds me of the CoD store or a mobile game, with minimal meaningful content, compared to several years ago. I'd rather play Armada or Bridge commander, STO can burn
-----
Also, their steamrunner model is nothing compared to the concept model i saw earlier in this chat

Development went all sorts of wonky once canon Star Trek started back up. Once Disco was announced, things started going downhill in terms of development. Now STO's just trying to leech off any content from the various series but canon trek isn't putting out monetizable content fast enough to keep up with STO's development budget.

More new ships (C Store this time!)
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11501233

I don't know the STO devs do it. They managed to take one of the most curvy ships in Star Trek, the Nova class, and used the ugly stick to beat it into a brick (must have been made by the same people that design STOs Klingon ships).

On the other hand, they took the rather blocky Sabre class and turned it into a gorgeous mass of curves.

I'll disagree on the gorgeous part, but I think I made a Saber/Nova kitbash that looks a lot like this ship at one point...

I really like the stats on the Equinox

(must have been made by the same people that design STOs Klingon ships).

Must disagree with that, the Klingon ships are the best looking ships in STO IMO. Even their original designs are awesome for the KDF. In fact many have become inspiration for designs in YY.

And I have to disagree with THIS :D
I think the Romulans have the most beautiful ships in the game. They are very authentic and just as I imagine the post-DS9 Romulan designs. Although there are some great Klingon and rather few STO-original Federation designs that also look good.
And I have to admint, the curvy Saber is one of them. It's a very clean and organinc design,. the only thing I dislike is the pointy end of the engineering hull, but I assume that can be replaced.

Yikes, the Nova redesign in particular is a definite regression of aesthetics.

Anyway, another thing to add to FleetAdmiral's porting list

And I'm going to Agree with this! The one place that the Dev team consistently do well is Romulan ships (but not such a fan of the "Reman" ones). They just don't seem to like to make them these days

Remans deserve more attention but then again it's pretty much just Fed ships being made again like the old pre-Romulan days. That or overpriced Legendary ships.

I'm sorry I can't do that... There are some variants that are decent
- Armitage Akira-variant
- Da Vinci Sabre-variant
- Ventur Galaxy-variant (That's how I imagine a Galaxy Refit)
- Bellerophon Intrepid-variant (I know it doesn't look like Federation at all, but for some reason I love this design)

And there a few - very few - STO original ships that are decent:
- Odyssey (though it's a fan made design, so probably doesn't count, and the varians are awful),
- Tempest Hermes-variant (but I really hate the basic design)
- Pathfinder (technically an Intrepid-variant, but so different that I consider it a unique design)

And my personal hole in hell: The Aventine Class Vesta-variant. I love this design so much that I prefer it over the original! This ship is jus tspot-on for me.

Wow... That's actually very few cosidering how many ships and variants are in the game...

I just looked at the T6 list... and you are right, it's hard picking out the good ones. It's not that the devs over there aren't talented, they clearly are, but they have no sense of flow or balance. The Galaxy family, they follow the nice curvy design then slap on the blocky hexagonal deflector, it juts looks half hearted. My pick are:
- Armatage (in fact the whole line is pretty decent)
- Pathfinder (I hate the deflector but it works as a whole)
- Hestia (except the bussards, but other than that)
- Columbia (TMP style NX, except the delta wing!)
- Reliant (well, I'm trying to like it, there's something not quite right)

And I sort of agree as well about Odyssey and Vesta. There things I dislike about all of them but I'm convinced that a good design could be made for both of them out of the parts available.

Fortunately they are getting better at recreating the original designs. Loved my time back with the Cnnnie at Tier 2.

Going back to the Da Vinci, I wasn't aware that E.C. Henry (of Pacific 201 fame) was the one that had designed it, and has been doing work on some ships designs in STO for two years now.

He posted a video about some of his process on the Da Vinci, which I found very interesting.

That is very cool to hear some input from the ship designer. When he showed the two different design flows he came up with I thought the design on the left would make a great Cardassian escort if they removed the nacelles.

In other news, the Untied Earth Defense Vessel from Star Trek Discovery is being released to STO via the Infinity Lock Box. They did a great job on the model for a horrid design.

EC Henry? THE EC Henry? The guy who made those beautiful models for obscure Star Wars ships with all the backstory? He it the most talented sci-fi designer currently.
