I got a couple of KDF characters that could fit the bill. My liberated Borg Romulan. Currently in an ancient Vulcan ship. And a Nausican.

I was so hoping this ship would make it into the game. The four nacelled Section 31 battlecruiser is coming to STO. Sadly, it will be in the Research and Development pack. I don't have a whole lot of luck with them. I may get a couple of them for the Lobi and see if I do get lucky. I was going to save up for the Vengeance so now, I guess I will be saving for this one instead.

That thing looks exactly like the Intelligence ships in STO that the Disco designers based the S31 ships off of...

I have that ship. Not exactly the same but is close. The Eclipse Intel Cruiser. Looks great with the S31 vanity shield on it too. I still want this dreadnought though.

STO's next mega event is set to begin this Thursday with Battle of the Binary Stars. They have made a few changes from previous events. They have extended it to cover 4 events as opposed to 3. The progress required has been increased from 2100 points to 2800. The prize has also been changed. Previous events gave 1 T6 C-Store ship voucher. This time, you get to chose either the voucher + 200 lobi or 1000 lobi. Other smaller prizes are also included. You can follow this link for full details.

I am considering going for the 1000 lobi so I can get the Vengeance.

Starting this week, all T1 through T4 ships will be purchased with Dilithium instead of Zen. With this change, the ships will become per character purchases as opposed to account. Honestly, I am personally fine with this as the prices they set are really cheap. T4 ships will be only 10,000 dil. They have been needing a dilithium sink for some time now and this is a good start.

Now I can purchase all the TOS ships so when I get the T6 ships, I'll have the TOS skins unlocked.

Yeah... they got the prices wrong

Tier 1 Zen ship at 15,000 dil
Tier 2 Zen ship at 37,500 dil
Tier 3 Zen ship at 75,000 dil
Tier 4 Zen ship at 150,000 dil

On the one hand, dilithium access is good and the equivalent cost is less than the Zen cost. However, this is a Character buy only, not account wide. The wording also suggests that they aren't reclaimable (but that's open to debate). So if you have multiple characters you need to buy them for each one. Then again, who really buys these anyway other than for the sets?

Basically I think Cryptic realised they made a bit of an oops when they made the T6s scaleble and they're hoping the ships will be a dilithium sink (it won't - how many characters at those levels will spend scarce dilithium on a temporary ship as they'll probably be saving for a scaleable T6).

Free Borg pack from today for two weeks.
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11396793

Is life feeling futile? Are the days without social connections making you long for a collective? Thanks to the Romulan-led research teams at the Artifact, you no longer have to feel that way. We’re proud to announce that every Captain in Star Trek Online is about to be freely assimilated – uh, we mean, get a free Borg Pack! This pack will be available, once per account, in the Promotions Tab of the Zen Store for two weeks starting April 2nd on PC and April 9th on Xbox One and Playstation 4. It contains the following items:

  • 4 Borg Lock Box Weapon Packs
    • These will give you a choice of a Borg ground or Space Weapon from the Borg Lock Box when opened.
  • A Borg Bridge Officer
    • This pack will give you one faction-appropriate Borg Bridge Officer to add to your crew
  • A Small XP Boost
    • This item will give you bonus XP generated over time as you level!
We hope your enjoy your future as a part of the Collective – uh, we mean, these free items, Captains!

Checked it's there but haven't claimed yet. I already have the Borg BOff and it's supposed to be once per account, so wondering if I should claim on that character and equip my BOff with weapons or claim on another and see if it gives me another BOff... decisions decisions.

EDIT
Also currently 20% off everything in the zen store

And it's time for the First Contact Day events, this time there's a new mission as well as the usual build a rocket.

There is now a Health Care Workers Salute bundle that can be found under the Promotions tab.
This is a free unlock which can be done on every character on your account, although you do have to claim it individually for each character.

This will give you:
Fed-Aligned Captains: Holographic Bashir Bridge Officer

Klingon Aligned Captains: Holographic Orion EMH Bridge Officer

Medical Tribute Vanity Shield

USS Hope Admiralty Card

They are indeed per character. Federation only though. I did claim them on all of my Fed characters without any issues.

I have enough to purchase one of the ships. I am torn between the Romulan one and the Caitian one. I do have a Caitian science captain that was being set up specifically for carriers so, it fits. I want my Romulan set up with a P-Gen build to maximize space magic. I really want to get her one of the Romulan multi mission science ships.

So I finished the Mega Event. I thought on the free ship token and the 1000 lobi. I went with the lobi for the Kelvin Timeline Dreadnought Cruiser that I have been wanting for my Discovery S31 character. The S31 and Covert Phasers look really good on her. And thanks to the current lobi shop sale, I had enough lobi to get a second ship. I got the Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser for my Liberated Borg Romulan. Got a set of the Assimilated Plasma weapons then the full Borg space set. I'll posts some pics when I get a chance.

Two terrifying ships, pretty much the direction of the KT fleet with the heavily militarized Feds and Romulan tech from the Narada.

Btw, I hear the Inquiry Class from Picard made it to STO:

It has indeed. You have a chance to get it from a promo box bought in the C-Store. It comes with both nacelle versions seen on screen. They also made it share the modeling skeleton of two existing ships so if you have those, you can mix parts.

Not sure what to think about this:

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11479283-upgrade-a-t6-ship-for-free!

The short, you'll be able to buy Experimental Starship Upgrade tokens.
Each token will add (not stackable)
+ 1 Device Slot
+1 Universal Console Slot
+1 Starship Trait Slot

My reading of this is that it sort of works like the T5U upgrade token. You can apply one Experimental Token to a T5U or T6 ship and it unlocks the -X version of that ship for your account.

On the one hand, this is what they should have been doing since day 1 to provide a means up leveling up your ship and providing customisation, so I'm hoping this is where they intend to take this. On the other hand, the voices in my head are screaming "Power Creep!!!" and I think it's just Cryptic making another money grab. I don't like that it's taking T6 and pushing it a step further beyond other "end game" content.

Anyway, the tokens will be available as a Phoenix Ultra Rare reward, or in the C Store for 1000z each or 2000z for three.

*** There will also be one free token per account in the Space Items tab of the C Store between Oct 6th and Nov 5th.***

Also of note: they have said there will be other in game means of acquiring these tokens (i.e. event rewards). Also, you only have to use this token on one character and it unlocks for ALL ships of that type on the entire account. Got two characters with the KT Constitution, use the token on one and it unlocks the X-Version for both characters. I know there are some ships that really can use this but others really don't need it.

As Cryptic don't seem to bother posting news on their own forum anymore, you may have missed that they have released a "legendary" Prometheus pack (which is a blatant cash grab) and a T6 Titan, details of which (if they are correct) in the link. It looks like its a science destroyer with the ability to switch between Tac and Sci focus. It is a Command specialisation.

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11480803

I am really getting the feeling that they are just trying to milk as much out of the game as possible now before killing it, as we seem to be seeing more and more copy/paste releases for stupid prices at an accelerated rate (i'm referring to the legendary ships rather than the Titan), and yet there seems to be very little bug fixing going on.

At least they released a T6 Luna. So I'm now obliged to come back playing. I was waiting for this for a very long time :)

I think they realized their mistake with the Disco content. There's no way to make a coherent in-game canon without clashing with what's being released in other series. Unless their writers start collaborating with the actual Trek writers. That, and people have less spare money to spend with the lockdowns and the resulting economic chaos.
