And Henry is a fellow Pennsylvanian, which makes me very happy.

It would be a hecka cool thing - albeit very unlikely - to get either him or Thomas Marrone to join us here.

It's that time of year again for the Anniversary giveaways. This time STO actually fired off an email saying what and when stuff will be given away:

Every day at 19:00 CET, we will be giving awesome in-game rewards, including:
•Jan 20– 2x Ultimate Tech Upgrades
•Jan 21– 2x Specialization Points
•Jan 22– 1x T5 Ship Coupon
•Jan 23– 7 of 9 + Talaxian Uniforms Sale (100%)
•Jan 24– 1x T6x Upgrade Token
•Jan 25– 1x Elite Captain Upgrade Token

Also, I believe that the anniversary event will have a D'Deridex-esque alliance carrier as the big prize.

I have not booted up STO on the Xbox for quite a while. Maybe I should.

The Jarok Alliance Carrier

The ruined a beautiful design with that fugly front saucer section. o_O

Here are the stats to the ship.

Gotta say though, the fighters (squadrons) that come with it looks cool. I hope we will soon be able to get a playable version of them.

Hmmm, generally I think the Alliance designs are okay, but this one is probably my least favourite so far. Given that the wing has the circular patterns on it I would have gone with a circular saucer rather than the wide oval (although I'd probably have tried a longer oval first to offset the wide wings). Given that the wings are so close together I also wouldn't have had the top and bottom the same. I know it's supposed to hark back to the D'D but I feel it would have been better with a more Valdore-esque planform than D'D. Still, far better than some of the designs we've had come out of STO.

Just a reminder peoples that the gifts are usually character bound, so be careful which one you unlock stuff on.

There is a coupon for a T6 ship in the promotions tab of the C-Store today.

Also, Kate Mulgrew is joining STO, reprising the role of Janeway in the newest mission.

I just played it. Despite my severe dislike for the Terran Empire in Trek I actually really enjoyed it, a couple of twists in there that I did not see coming. A warning though, it is unfortunately a To Be Continued...

I too, quite enjoyed it. It may be taking longer between new missions but the quality of them are vastly improving.

Well, those models are otherwise unavailable, so.... Just kidding. I'm no fan of copyright infringement being on the wrong side a couple of times
How did you figure it out by the way?

Guess who thought he was supporting a Trek community 3d modeller but actually ended up buying assets stolen from STO?

https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/snl5mw/stolen_sto_assets_being_sold_on_cg_trader/

I will say that the bar CG Trader are setting to get a refund on this is stupidly high.

Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/sto.
Moderators remove posts from feeds for a variety of reasons, including keeping communities safe, civil, and true to their purpose.

Guess they removed the post, wanna give us some details. I see STO models up for sale all the time on those 3d printing pages like shapeways.

How did you figure it out by the way?

It was kind of obvious TBH. The textures were unaltered from STO using their single-layout approach (not sure what the technical term is!). They'd even used the *wrong* textures for some reason, the Intrepid hull mixed with the Vancouver specular, Galaxy windows and pods...

I got a refund in the end though, after linking to one of Thomas Marone's ArtStation posts where he had some example images of their textures from a different ship. Was like pulling teeth with them, though.

Details of the 12th Anniversary pack have been released.
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/s.../11507853-the-12th-anniversary-terran-bundle!

It's a Mirror Universe pack.
Price 17,500 zen discounted to 13,125 zen until March 3rd.
Five ships and plenty of padding:

  • FOUR Brand New Starships:
    • Terran Lexington Dreadnought Cruiser
    • Terran Cygnus Battlecruiser
    • Terran Adamant Heavy Raider
    • Terran Trailblazer Science Warship
  • Mirror Strike Wing Escort [T6] (Engle-class)
    • With new Earhart-class Terran variant material, exclusive to this Bundle
    • This ship may only be claimed by Federation captains, or those who have unlocked Cross-Faction Starships.
  • Terran Empire Costume Adornments
    • The Inquisitor’s Uniform – as seen worn by players’ fierce rival in “Red Shift”
    • An additional collection of previously-unreleased Terran Uniform variants.
    • These costumes and costume pieces are exclusive to this Bundle.
  • Exclusive Title:
    • “Inquisitor”
  • Additional Inclusions:
    • 1x T6 Ship Coupon (100% Off)
    • 6x Experimental Ship Upgrade Tokens
    • 6x Starship Slots
    • 12x Master Keys
    • 12x Ultimate Tech Upgrades
However, with the exception of the Engle they will be selling the ships individually for 3000 zen each.

My thoughts:
That's a lot of padding! I actually like the stats (and the looks - shocking I know) of all of the ships, but at 3k each that's 15k zen. Long gone are the days when multi-packs cost less than the sum of their parts, now they pad it out to justify a higher price.

I have a bunch of T6 coupons already, so I'll probably pick up the Lexington (Odyssey) and Trailblazor (Intrepid) at some point as I've been thinking of grabbing them anyway and I prefer the stats of these ones. Lexington looks nice with a weapons pod and a spinal cannon (I was eyeing her up during the mission). Trailblazer looks awful with all the weapon pods, but I want an Intrepid so hopefully I can use just the stock skin. I don't mind the new Defiant (Adamant) and Cygnus (Galaxy) either.

I really like the Inquisitor uniform, sadly it's going to be bound to the pack and won't be sold individually. Fortunately my latest TOS character already has it because they did a one-off character bound giveaway of it at some point. It's a shame as I'd have probably put zen down to get that uniform, but not for the whole pack.

Adamant and Trailblazer I'm eyeing off myself. I still have my T6 coupon so I'll probably pick that up at somepoint. I agree about the stupid price of the pack. Fill it crap to charge more. Problem is people buy it so they keep doing it. So as much as I'd probably like the uniforms I'm not going to sink money into the game to get it. Couldn't justify it if I wanted to.

The fact that the dil exchange has been broken for like forever when it comes to transferring dil to zen means I don't bother often I just buy the fleet versions on the characters I want anyway. Using the exchange or rep system to get the fleet modules for the said ships.

The DIl Exchange sorta still works, you just have to wait about two weeks for the request to be processed (depending on demand). I just got up to 3k last night.

In other news...
There is another Event (I'm getting sick of this method of doing things!):
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11509563

The event itself isn't important, but this is the first event in a year long campaign which rewards the choice of a free Tier 6 Promotional or Lockbox ship, 2 free T6 Coupons for the Zen Store, or 1500 Lobi.

I did this last year and picked myself up a T6 Connie for my latest TOS character.
Important thing to note: Progress towards the campaign continues after you complete the requirements for each individual event. So if it's an event that requires 20 runs to win this months widget and you play 25 times then all 25 go towards the year long campaign, which means you don't necessarily have to complete all events to finish the campaign (I wish I had realised that at the start of last year).

Still waiting after months.

They're going to burn people out with so many events.

Two pieces of information:
1. You can use the Free T6 Ship vouchers that were given out during the anniversary giveaways on the new Terran ships!
2. The costume parts (and I've only tried this on the Trailblazor so far) do not include the original T6 variant ship. So for example, the Trailblazor includes the Mirror and Fed Trailblazor, the Mirror and Fed Intrepid, but only the Mirror Pathfinder. It does not include the Fed Pathfinder, for that you would also need to purchase the stock version.

What this means is that if you want a Fed ship then some parts (the nacelles in the case of the Trailblazor) cannot be had, you need to use the Mirror equivalent with the Terran Empire logo.

I assume this will be the same for all of the Terran ships.

There is currently an STO giveaway at this site:
https://game.intel.com/ww/giveaways/star-trek-online-stormfall-emperors-sword-bundle-giveaway

You need to jump through some registration hoops but at the end you get
  • Emperor’s Sword
  • 36 Inventory Slots
  • 36 Bank Slots
  • 2 Bridge Officer Slots
This is obtained through the Promotions tab in the C Store, i.e. you claim it on one character.
The sword is a one off character bound item so whichever character makes the claim is stuck with it.
The other three items are in a single container. I believe that this box is account bound (I just used the character I wanted the slots on to claim it) but once the box is opened all items are automatically used on that character.

They never even tried to make us believe that they work hard. You can clearly see this on any of their won starship designs as well

More giveaways available. I'm lazy so I'm just going to link to the video:
The alienware one is just a case of signing up, the steel series ones require a software download. As suggested in the video, there are still older keys available on the steel series one.
Provides the usual stuff, extra slots, xp bonuses etc. However one has an Elite BOFF training token.

Just a reminder that not only is this weekend a Phoenix Box weekend, it's also an Upgrade weekend.
Plus there's an announcement on the forums that:

Celebrate the anniversary of #StarTrekTheNextGeneration with a free giveaway, starting right now on PC! (These items will come to Xbox and Playstation in October) Head to the promotions tab of the Zen Store to get Worf's hair, beard, and sash!

Looking back, I do appreciate STO for creating so many unique ship designs. That doesn't mean that all of them are good...you make a whole bunch of models and obviously some will be terrible. But they advanced the art in a time when very few mainstream game developers were doing so. The Thunderchild (Akira variant) remains one of my favorite ship designs, and that Jarok up above is so close to an awesome design, it's just got a few bad features >_<
