I think I know where you have the Endeavour from. ;)

I thought you would.

Well last update for the day and tomorrow as well, need to head north to fix my car with help from a family member. Okay honestly he is doing the work and I am the one helping. :lol2:

The Solaria is now complete model and texture wise, taken a while but I got there. I'd like to dedicate this to my Fiancée Katala, who puts up with so much, including me complaining, whining and threatening the PC when something doesn't go my way.

You do so much for me and I do so little, and I thank you for being such a wonderful person, partner and for putting up with me.

Now here is a comparison of the old and the new models, I think you'll find this really shows the improvement several hours work has achieved.

And some screenshots of the new Solaria by herself. :)

Me = speechless! Well done! you have actually made me speechless for once!
Well you know all the reasons why I do but I'm assuming that it still amazes you as always why someone would do that. Well I'm not going to go into the mushy stuff here I'll just tell you later ;)

Btw you have done excellent work as usual on the model

*still speechless* :p

I really liked her before, but this! I ask you all, is it wrong to instantly develop a very strong emotional attachment to a pixelated image of a fictional space ship? :worship:
She is truly a beauty now. I cannot wait to get her in game and go Toaster hunting. Muahahahahaha! I see you fixed the name thingie so it is right way 'round on both pods as well.

I don't know if I feel as strongly as Thunderfoot :p but she is a beautiful peice of work. Well done Majestic, this almost makes it worth waiting for the Peacekeepers... just barely.

Hello:
The texture remapping was great, it does no longer looks stretched or anything. Good work indeed!.
As for hero ships, Does the Eternal come from the fanfic "Battlestar Prometheus" ?
keep it up!

When you said to me she was perfect before I thought "Wait till he sees the revamp version". I feel she is a dramatic improvement and yes I fixed the flight pod error. Now all I need to do to her is add in the improvements to the hardpointing you requested.

Thanks, yes they will come along in time. So much to do and so little time. I've decided to work on it, species by species or faction by faction. That way people can make their own Parallels if they wish and if not after I release all this I'll code it all into a mod myself over time.

Yes I didn't like the stretch on the head and the misaligned textures. A reason I felt that the Solaria needed a major revamp.

I am a major fan of the fan faction Battlestar Prometheus done by Ryan A. Keeton. In fact that is where my idea for the Defender class revamp came from, the Sentinel support ship and I plan to make the Vigilant and the Prometheus (Nova class) as well at a later date.

For all those who have no idea what we are talking about, go here: Battlestar Prometheus. Best Battlestar Galactica fan fiction I have ever read.

One last thing for today, I wasn't totally happy with the GUI I made for the Colonials ages ago, so using Achilles template for his Metathran's I have come up with this. I would also like to thank Achilles for troubleshooting it as well.

It's still a WIP that's why things aren't showing up exactly as they should. But it's getting there.

Hey Maj!

That refit of my original Solaria mesh looks awesome!
You really pushed the quality of the model to the next level.

May I ask that you send me the ms3d-file? I'd love to do some renders.

I read that fanfic too, in fact, I wanted to re-read some sections. And I have a news you could find interesting: I made a low-poly Lobo Negro station:angel:.
Another good fanfic (not at the level of Promethues though) is "A lament for a Lacrymosa" from the Battlestar Pegasus page. I like that it also has a shipyard (they got it before prommy) and they use Valkyrie and Talos class ships (the Talos was designed by a fellow A2 modder called Iosys).

Sure mate, send me a PM with your email address and I'll email it to you. I still need to work on the HPs but since you only want it for renders it's not an issue. :)

Yes I am not a major fan of the Talos, I think it's the Talos there are so many fan designs floating around.

I would love to see the Lobo Negro, I was planing on making a version down the road as a special unit. Giving it FTL ability as seen in the fan fiction as well.

Yeah I plan on doing some more work on the Valkyrie before I hardpoint her, I feel the texturing work I've done on her doesn't quite do her justice yet. Just some minor revamps are in order.

I've been playing around with the GUI this evening since I have gotten home. Made some improvements and leaps forward.

I have fixed the resource positions to show them in the correct spot. Latinum is for fuel and Dilithium is for raw materials which I may use metal for instead as it's grey colour will no doubt be more appropriate.

Yacuzza was also kind enough to send me his GUI system improvements, which I have incorporated into the GUI. Still needs some playing around with but overall I think it doesn't look too bad.

attachment.php

I still have to remove officers from the ships so that it doesn't show up on the GUI.

Hello all,

Just an update here, I haven't forgotten about this project in fact I have been working on it when I get the time. I have almost completed a complete (well almost complete) re-texture and a mesh improvement on the Mercury class to bring her up to the quality of the Solaria.

I have also before Win7 chucked a wobbly and stop allowing me to use the map editor did a scale of the 3 larger Battlestars of the Colonials to show approximately their intended sizes and scales.

attachment.php

Some refinements in the scale are in order I think, the Solaria is a tad to big other than that I think it's pretty good.

I'll have images of an up-dated Mercury sometime soon. :)

Thanks, I have finished the Mercury but Windows is crashing the game all the time. It will work when I first start the PC then it will crash on me. Luckily Katala partitioned my main C drive, so I will at some point re-install XP on the second empty drive and run dual systems.

But boy does the Mercury look great, a much an improvement as the Solaria was. :)

I have just gotten the map editor to work once, it seems to work once then I need to re-boot the PC to get it to work again. Flat chance doing that.

I will have to install XP mode for Win7 to see if that fixes it.

Anyway it was enough to get some in-game shots of the new Pegasus, well Endeavour in this case.

Oh, and as a bit of a side note, I think you should adjust the contrast and brightness of the engines ever so slightly. Looks too dim. I actually tweaked them myself recently, looks better IMHO.

That being said, everything else is, top notch.

Hello:
Well, I can try and suggest that you should also have a pic of the ship "after" the retouch been closer to the camera, so it would be more noticeable?
The ship looks good, maybe you can try glows for the engines?
And what is that third variant of the Valkyrie? I only know two: the original and the one with rollbar .

I haven't gotten anything done and most likely won't for a while, it has been too hot. I was digging today at work at is was 48 degrees Celsius for a good part of the day. It was already 30 at 9AM.

I prefer the ones I am currently using, reason being is I don't like that blue colour. I just personally dislike it. But I get your meaning and may look into it. But it is something people can do themselves if they wish.

Yeah with my game playing up I can't get much in the way of images atm. :(

I have never done engine glows so wouldn't know where to start.

The Valkyrie variant is one of the PAR Team's own creation and is a speed variant. The Valhalla variant is the rollbar one and is a sensor variant, more dradis capabilities as well as some dradis blocking abilities.

Either way, you get no gripes from me with your decision. It was a minor pet peeve at best.

Hello:
Well, I only have the Valkyries that have been shown on-screen. I am currently using the Valhalla (maybe we can blame Ice-Dragon from SFM about associating the rollbar variant with that name :D ) as a frigate, so maybe the Dradis thingie could work well. And the normal Valkyrie as the heavy cruiser (backbone of the fleet)... I guess a third version of that awesome ship will sure be welcome, and I am getting an idea of how it will look, but I'll say nothing to not spoil the surprise (it is good to be a Cylon and have agents everywhere :naughty: :lol2: ).
Keep it up!

Yes Chile I got it from Ice-Dragon too. :)

My fleet or would be fleet when done of Colonial vessels:

Twelve Colonies of Kobol

Combat Vessels
  1. Viper MK II class Fighter
  2. Viper MK VII class Fighter
  3. Olympia class Jumpstar
  4. Titan class Firestar
  5. Cygnus class Gunstar
  6. Guardian class Gunstar (ECM)
  7. Defender class Strikestar
  8. Valkyrie class Battlestar (and Variants)
  9. Columbia class Battlestar
  10. Solaria class Battlestar
  11. Mercury class Battlestar
  12. Nova class Battlestar

Either way, you get no gripes from me with your decision. It was a minor pet peeve at best.

That and you've already done it means you can just replace the file in the download with yours.

Would it be permissible for Jetfreak to release his version? Usually if I have to choose between someone else's textures and Jet's textures (even if the 'someone else' is the creator of the mod in question) I'm far more likely to use Jet's.

Oh thanks. :(

Sure shows putting all this hard work into this has been a total waste of my time, and yes I know Jet does awesome work no doubt about that but that's not my point here.

Ow well time to do something else I think.

I'm sorry but this kind of question should be directed via PM, not asking one modder to release their version in someone elses project thread, if this is good enough for other members to complain about it happening in their threads and have the community adhere to it, then it is also good enough for Majestic complain about it and have you adhere to it also.

Suggestions and opinions are all good and well but this was a bit too far especially since it has been noted this is unacceptable recently by other members in their threads. Being an admin of another forum I would have thought you would be able to understand this already.

This thread is being closed until further notice or until Majestic decides what to do with this project.

Hello all,

After doing some thinking while I was bed ridden with this nasty flu that I thought was getting better till I started sneezing out blood today I have decided to release what I have got. No new material will be released. Many unfinished works will no doubt stay that way, at least until I can learn to make textures myself as I haven't seem to be able to get any help in that area.

So apart from the few BSG, Star Wars and B5 designs that will be it for the PRP. I am slowly moving away from A2 modding, while I still enjoy modelling I have lost a lot of the passion I once had for modding the game and looking onto new horizons and games.

Im sorry to read that you are having bad flu. I hope you get all better real soon. Im also glad to read that "PRP" is not dead. Allthough I understand your shift away from it and A2 I think that whatever unreleased content that is complete would deserve to be released. I say that because despite what some people say I find your work quite good. It is always a shame when good work goes to waste so I am also glad that you will release what you have complete.

From reading the other threads of your projects I gather you are getting sick with A2. Maybe you will just take a break from it, maybe you will be done with it. Maybe sick isnt the right word. But in anycase I wish you luck to whatever you move to. In the short time that I have been a member of this community I have seen determination and diligence in whatever you have done. With that being said we all have to move on at some point right?

Well I will reinterate my get well wishes to you and thank you for the work you have done and released for the PRP as it was a thrill and pleasure to benefit from the outstanding work you have done.
