Hello:
That's cool, I didn't know he mentioned the Terrasphere yet. And it reminds me I have a couple of pending 8472 models to do. As I have only released A2 stock redo but not yet fan-designed ones :D *insert evil emoticon here*.

Sorry but no, as I don't know how to do that, and my plate is full right now

I only asked because with the turrets you have for the model you have at least 3 LODs already. When you get done HP the model if you wany you could send it to me and I'd set it up for you. Then you could use the HP tree as the base for later ships.

Hello:
I don't quite get it, as my turrets make for three versions but I have them as separate sods. Unless you say you can make one lod to show the high-poly turrets, another lod to show the low-poly turrets and the final lod to show no turrets?

I did finish the Terrasphere, but I forgot to do the other things (Build-button, Wireframe and Admiral's Log pic)... I apologize for that but I got busy with real-life stuff and excitied to complete other models too.

I had no idea my stuff was mentioned in the FO forums, besides of the mod Apoclaydon/Blade is doing and I am helping a bit with. But I apologize with my delay on Terrasphere's release.

Heh, it's fine. You work on whatever you desire, I'll be sitting right here and enjoying whatever you release.

Thats exactly what I mean. The different levels are actually different models with different amounts of detail. Based on the number of levels you put in the SOD and the distences set in the ART.CFG file the game will auto switch between them as the camera gets closer or further away. The same principle aplies when you lod the textures. This is how you have a 10k model that only uses 2k system resources 70% of the time:thumbsup:

The models all need to be in the SAME .sod, not separate ones. You attach the different level meshes to certain parts of the hierarchy tree, and as StarFox said, art.cfg to set the distances.

Hello:
It is nice to hear from you Atlantis!. What do you think of my Valkyrie?

As for me having separate sods is because I don't use LODs so I make the player to choose which version of the ship he/she will want to use by using the codes in the odfs... or by renaming the sod accordingly :) .

Astounding. The amount of detail in there is very impressive, especially given the lack of reference/screentime the Valkyrie got.

Hello:
The offer sounds interesting. The models are hardpointed (Valkyrie and the version with rollbar), so I think I can send them to you, so you can do the LoDs.

But is it ok that you make the lods for the valkyrie and then I see how you did that so I can do the same for my other models? As I have many and some more waiting for some retouches?.

Hello:
I will send you a PM requeting your e-mail address then :).

This is something I found while looking at some files. These are my Leviathans! (no gunships).

here you'll see female and male Leviathans in the three ages I have made for them: child, adult and elder. And I also included a pic of the Transport Pod model I also made. Any opinions and suggestions are very welcomed (and encouraged, specially for odfs  ).

Hello:
And thank you for your comments people! :) .

As for the models, they are there for some time already (before I started the Valkyrie) so I think they are ready, and very low poly as none of the Leviathans has more than 1300 polies.

The males' spikes grow as they mature and I took the idea from the Farscape comics, since they are written by the serie's author, then they are canon, and the idea I took from the Leviathan called Cilla.

For Leviathan-Gunships like Talyn, I have three ages too: child (Talyn is a hero unit), adolescent and adult. the weaponry for the later ages were also taken from the comics, and you'll see why people feared how powerful Talyn was really meant to be .

Since the gunships are armed, they have limited room for cargo or other things, so normal Leviathans can do that. Since cargo ships cannot build anything, I need ideas as adult females are meant to be able to have kids if resources are enough.

Also I need to know. Should I make a baby age for these ships? (normal and gunships) the player could easily make them growth into the child stage. because I noticed Talyn's main gun was different in his first days, and the cannon we know came when Talyn began to grow.

As for other units, planned models are the PK Prowler and Marauder (Command Carrier and the two versions of the Pantak class Vigilante are ready). Also the Scarran ships. Version1 of Lo'La and the ship Jothee had are done too.

Hehehe, I'll do my best, as with the work on the Valkyrie, I think it is nice to rest a bit from BSG stuff.

Seconded, can't wait to see these available. :excited:

Since I have two votes, then I might trylu try that, I will look for the references so Ican begin modelling that gun. I would also use this oportunity to retouch our favourite spitfire's texture, as I think I can make better some details in the belly:).

Loving the sound of all the Farscape material you have planned for us Chile, and I agree with the others; a baby form for the Leviathans sounds like a great idea! :)

Really looking forward to these being released, keep up the great work

Hello:
Thank you Dan1025 :) .

Elder Leviathans, you all might have noticed how different the hull looks, right? I tried to copy how Elack looked like, and Elder's Transport Pods will also have that look, just to give some variety.

Another question. Since Talyn died too young, he might have been unable to grow his own Pods. But if he did (for more grown versions ingame), would you agree if I create a combat version of the Transport Pod? It will not be a radical change, maybe just like how some Raptors (in BSG) were fitted with missiles and guns.

As for the Scarran ships, I am sorry but they are only on planning stage, but I do plan to build them (Striker, Dreadnought and Decimator) :naughty: .

Yeah a Talyn style transport pod sounds really interesting, something with the black and red colouring maybe?

Any plans to do any of the PeaceKeeper ships? Or do you have them done already?

Hello:
By pure chance I got a direct frontal view of the Command Carrier from an episode of Farscape. I think that after Talyn, I can retouch that section on my model, but the Command Carrier is done, same with the two versions of the Pantak class Vigilante. That is a smaller ship that have been seen a lot, but there is a variant that was seen in the first episode... that one was made too. I will try to take some pics to show them.

The Frag cannons on the Command Carrier are very detailed, but to save polies I decided to play a bit with transparent textures. I think I got the details as I wanted them :). I also made a proper sprite for those cannons and the sound from the serie, so it is very like in the serie. I hope so :).

Hello:
I have a little thing here and it is about scaling. I noticed right now, when scaling a model, that I use the stock Sovereign class as a scale reference, since it is 685 meters lenght and only a scaleSod of 1.4 . Because unlike the Galaxy class that has two decimals in the scaleSod and the size has decimals too, so it leads to too many measurement errors.

My issue is, I am messing-up things because I use the stock Sovereign class as a reference for scaling my models? I think because it is more of a size guide and not if the model itself is too innacurate (if it is). But I still wanted to know your opinion.

STARSHIP DIMENSIONS This is a website devoted exclusively to how big or small science fiction space ships are. I locate the ship in question on this site or the closest one available to it and use half the length listed to ensure all my ships are to scale with one another. I also use Achillies' Measurestick in conjunction with this.
