Progress is still being made despite the lack of activity in this thread. Firstly there is a preview video for you all to download and have a look at. Check out the media thread in this section.
Onto the mod.
All Federation ships are completed, there are only a few campaign only ships that require hardpointing at this curent time.
Syf is now working on the Klingon and Romulan ships with the first ship the Klingon destroyer now complete and on my harddrive. All of the Klingon and Romulan ships posted before will no longer be in the mod, the textures will be reused but the actual models will be rebuilt to get better poly counts. Don't expect many ships in the mod to be over the 2000 poly count range.
Weapon textures have been collected and I am now awaiting the permission email reply from Rake.
Federation buildbuttons and wireframes are now complete. All ships (Klingon and Romulan) are expected to be completed in a month to a month and a half if nothing crops up to slow us down that will then leave only the stations will need to be done. So nearly all models in the mod will be completely new models not available in any other mod.
So while this is all happening balancing will be getting done.
Each race will have their own pros and cons when it comes to playing them.
The Federation are good for begineers and have an excellent sense of balance. They have the strongest shields and hulls seen. Their phasers and photon torpedoes can do a good amount of damage during a battle. Their bases are heavily fortified and not easy to get a fleet into.
The Klingons are excellent at attacking and their ships are loaded with disruptors and photon torpedeos. But the shields and hulls are considerability weaker than their Federation counterparts. Their ships are cheaper to produce and also quicker. They are also not the best for defense. If your a defensive player best to stear clear of these guys when picking a race to play.
The Romulans rely heavily on stealth and the cloaking device. Their ships are equipped with disruptors for prolong battles and plasma torpedeos for hit and run attacks. Plasma torpedeos can do a great deal of damage at close range, so Captain watch out for them. They have extraordinary long range sensors, allowing them to detect enemy fleets from much further away than their Klingon or Federation foes. Their bases are fairly well fortified, use a good sized fleet to attack one of these.
The classified race that appears in the campaign has both strengths and weakness of both the Klingons and Romulans. So you better watch out for them in the campaign and here you thought the Borg were tough.
There has been some thought about making them playable in multiplayer/instant action. This has yet to be decided and may not be until closer to the mods release date.
