• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I made a comment about Flops as man in the community found it to be a good mod. I personally found it a disappointment.

Yesteryears will be surpassing it in may ways as stated above. Just wait till you see the Klingons guys. ;)

Something that I have never like of A2 was that, not becuse the effect if not becuase is way to visible, the orange look good but for my taste I will be better if it was more like a detail that a some kind of shields texture...

I really am not too fond of the purple parts. Maybe replace it with grey or lime-neon green (or something to that nature).

Yeah I was going off the SFC 1 interface. Here's an idea using a few orange parts (they appear on the Stormbird) and also a different tone of green for the remainder of the pink parks.

Hey Majestic....remember me? I have a really good TMP Phaser texture..made it myself..as well as sounds for it....i'm also working on a TMP torpedo texture for some of the older ships in my mod...would you be interested in them?

Yeah I remember you mate. I currently already have a Federation TMP and Photon torpedo textures, but I am looking for a good Klingon TMP torpedo texture and Romulan TMP weapon textures. If you have any that would be much welcome.

They are from Rake aren't they? I got permission to use any and all of his textures in my mods. :D

Time for a little updating. I have hardpointed today the Klingon battleship so the Klingons really have some teeth now. The Klingons have all but one combat ship to go and are coming along nicely. Like I have said in an earlier update they will be very trigger happy, for example the battleship has 9 photon torpedo launchers and 19 disruptor banks, compared to the Federation battleship that has 2 torpedo launchers and 20 phaser emitters.

Syf and I already have some ideas for the Romulans. I look forward to starting on their ships soon, I think they will outdo the Klingon ships by popularity. We also have another little feature that you will have to wait till the mod release to find out about. :p ;)

The Romulans will be started on once the Klingon ships (both combat and non combat are complete). It is estimated that by the end of the year all models for the mod will be complete and only the campaign, AI and a few balancing bits and peices will be required to be complete. Not bad for what will be then 4 months of work (the mod is currently 2 months old now).

I am still sorting out weapon textures but will soon be complete in that side of things. I have also started increasing strengths of the ships as currently they are still stock in their odf's. I intent to have the heavy ships (Dreadnaughts and Battleships) very powerful and hard to kill, and since their won't be many on the battlefield due to pricing and costs it won't unbalance the game.

Each race will use their battleships and dreadnaughts in different ways. Romulans will use them fairly often as will the Federation. The Klingons will not as much, you won't see many Klingon battleships in the game as they are really expensive, but when they do enter the battlefield I suggest running fast!

I better sum it up there before I give too much away or start going off on tangents.

Another update so soon. :shock:

Well this is only a really brief one. I have started major balancing of the Federation. Weapons will remain the same power wise but the ship healths have been increased alot.

If you have a look at the stock game you will noticed the following lines of code in their odfs.

I have changed these all. Its still only a beta as I have to do more testing as well as get the other races done but an example of what I have done have a look at fcruise3.odf and look at the lines stated above.

Queston. Why do a couple of the entries have asterisks between them? such as engine, weapons, and sensors? Is there some kind of hidden code you don't want us to see?

The **** in the code shown is because of the language controls used here. It's supposted to only filter explicit language, but for some reason, it's filtering out the "Hard" from those lines.

All of those entries should be Hitpoints..there shouldn't be some with hardpoints and some with hitpoints

edit: I know what its filtering out...its filtering out the word s-h-i-t for engine"s-h-i-t"points. Its filtering out the "s" and the word "hit" put them together and voila!

You are correct. I'm still under the influence of cold medicine.:oops:
It is replacing the s and the Hit from those line. It sees it as an explicit word.

Update

Klingon ships (buildlist) have all been build. Expect an update and some screenshots over the weekend as I still need to hardpoint 4-5 of the models.

If your lucky and I decide to spoil you, I may throw in a video of the Klingons and Federation slugging it out.

Awesome, the Klingons will probably be the ones I play first. :D

I think I am going to enjoy the Romulans the most, and looking from the first models they are going to be the best race in the mod, in my opinion. :D

Anyway, I am hardpointing the last Klingon models. When I get back I will be doing the last 4 and putting them ingame.

The Klingon fleet is complete, and you are going to love them...Until you play the mod against them, then you'll hate them!:lol2:

Updates with the romulan screenies are not too far away either.:thumbsup:
