• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Armada's include statements are being confusing. I would think that the further down in a file the include statement is put, the more the file in the include statement would override what was above it. Apparently this isn't the case

FO did away with the include statement as it just means you need to load two ODF files instead of one, which means more processing for the PC and game. I find that this and many other features makes FO a superior mod platform for all modders.

FO still has #include available, they just don't use it. You can even have a file in a mod #include itself to reference the the original FO version or the parent mod's version. See Super Classic Advanced's ODFs for an example. As for why moving it lower on the file doesn't work, perhaps it looks for #include commands first, then loads the rest of the lines?

I'm not sure. I'm used to files being read from the top down, so this quirk confused me. As far as include statements, I like using them, as they make grouping ships into categories with similar properties much, much easier

I have a tiny bug crawling around inside of my screen, between the LCD part and the outer screen thing. I can't kill it and it's driving me nuts.

It should eventually starve to death. Just think of it this way: you now have a space-borne alien flying around in every Armada 2 map!

Only problem is it'll probably expire right in the middle of the screen

It seems to have crawled out now, thankfully.

That's good to hear last thing you want is a dead insect in your screen rooting away.

Is there a thread yet for things like texturing tutorials or advice? I ask because I'm having some long-present issues with how I'm texturing that I'd like to address

Just found out Rake's Weapon Textures are backed up on my Gmail account. Might have been nice to know when everybody was hunting for them.

Yeah... Turns out I sent them to Terra three years ago and have never emptied my outbox. If I'm not mistaken, Terra is the one who sent the archive to Majestic, so technically I helped.

An archive I lost in a HD crash a couple of years back, Rifraf sent me a fresh copy a little while back via PM and that is the copy I uploaded.

But you still helped as you got me a viable contact to Rake. :D

Whoops, thought it was Terra for some reason. On the one hand, when was the last time anyone else here looked at their three year old email? On the other hand, I feel like I really should have remembered that. Anyway, back to banging my head on the desk.

Don't break your desk. Besides don't be too hard on yourself. Everything you did to help find Rake and Yacuzza should make up for it.

Anyone know if there was ever a retexture of the Gryphon fighter over at FileFront?

So, I didn't have to deal with any flash flooding in North Carolina when a hurricane hit us, but I get to when I come back home to Idaho...

Massive rainstorm just essentially shut down our town. They closed our main street and campus from the flooding. One of my friend's apartments was literally flooded to the ceiling. Crazy stuff...

Here's our back parking lot, which wasn't too bad. Plenty of people goofing off.

Also, a video of another complex that flooded. My cousin was one of the people going into the apartments to try and help people recover possessions.

Always people goofing off in times like this, probably only thing they can do when they loose so much to avoid breaking down.

Great to hear you got though this mostly unaffected. I hope everyone gets through this disaster and on the road to recovery.

A woman yelled, "Hey, sexy!" at me while driving by. That's a bit of an ego boost.

A friend of my father's and mine sent this to me knowing that today marks the tenth anniversary of my Father's dead

I thought it was worth sharing

Thanks for posting this HK, and it makes perfect sense as well. Dates mean nothing at the end of it all it's what is in between that matters to us all.

Remaking an ugly kitbash with great models still results in an ugly kitbash

And I kinda want to add all the races to my game

Going through Memory Alpha and looking at the various runner-ups for different Star Trek roles and I'm wondering what TNG would have looked like with different actors for the different roles. Especially if the only female applicant for the role of Data got the part
