• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Good news, I am officially off the work schedule and considered gone on r&r.

Bad news, battalion is in the middle of a change in units. So, my orders are not signed yet and I can not leave until they are. So, now it is a waiting game.

Silver lining, my official r&r does not start until I get stateside. So, however long they take is just increasing my time off.

Interesting story.....one of the soldiers bragged yesterday on how he saved a tiny kitten from being run over..... later that night when I drove back to base my MATV lost all power to the radios, defense systems, and alternator...I drove the crippled truck back to base and just before I turned it off the engine warning sign came on. Then this morning we found the kitten.... it's head had been severed off by the engine belt as it logged itself into it and dislocated the belt.... that same soldier had to them help remove the remains of his once proudly saved kitten.... long story short, a 2 pound kitten disabled an 18.5 ton military truck.....truely amazing...

Poor cat. It was probably trying to use the engine block to stay warm. I feel terrible for the soldier, too; saving the cat and then it gets killed anyway.

I can officially say that after dealing with some of this unit that I am done with the army when I get back. Either I will change branches or I will ride out the rest of my contract and get out. I know the rest of the army is not this bad but I have lost my desire to stay longer than I must. I am attempting to get back on my old team to make this deployment survivable. My current team is lead by a SSG that is willing to turn a blind eye to another specialist putting his hands on him in anger but still give me grief b/c I do not live in the gym like he does. He has made it obvious that he has no trust or respect in or for me as a person or a soldier. I regret leaving my old unit for this one b/c I would already be promoted to SGT in my old unit. In this one unless you had a packet in before deployment or are a senior NCO you have no chance of seeing a promotion. I am at wits end and irritated to no end and Syf can tell you that it takes a lot more then most to drive me to this point. That is about the most family friendly way I can say that.

I was on his team before... then it was required to do nothing but weight lifting for at least 1 hour everyday....could not do any other pt but weights AND I was required to be babysat by him or another NCO while I did it...even after I passed my pt test... but I am the only one he does that to.

1.) what dose you last Counseling statement say
2.) have you talk to you PLT sgt or PLT leader about the subject

You Mite want to talk to thunderfoot to get his advice on this he was a Army Plt Sgt were I'm a Air force officer I have a different view point.

unfortunately doing anything through my units chain of command is useless. i have seen almost everything that goes up it never get taken care of. That is one son this unit has had 1 change of command and 2 change of platoon Sgt.

I seriously hope you can get this storted out somehow. How long do you have to stay in AFG before you can get out of this unit?
Is there maybe another way than the chain of command? I know that the German Army has officers that soldiers can turn to (written, personal or via phone) if there are problems with superiors.
Try asking for thunderfoot's opinion as well. Maybe he knows a similar case and how it was resolved.

Well, I tried to change teams. Even found someone who wanted to switch but all I got was excuses as they play favorites. The excuse I was given was they don't want people in the same room to be on the same team but there are 2 other rooms that both people are on the same team. I hate being lied to.

I feel like a way to stop some of these kinds of problems before they start might be to, rather than sending people straight from training to command, send them from training to basically apprenticed under another CO who then OK's or disqualifies them for command after a certain amount of time.

I will not say things are a lot better for me but atleast right now the attention has shifted off of me. I am still on the team that causes me the most issues but right now they don't care to much about personal issues. Ofcourse I can not talk about those details. I can't even really repeat what is already in the world news.

on the bright side I think I have an idea of what I can do when i get home. Open up a business. Now just to get certain things in order. One thing is finances and to find a partner in the business.....got a good idea of whom to talk to. You up for it Syf?

I have an interesting request. My first sargeant is a license plates collector. He put out a request to us soldiers that if any of us could get some from different places i the world. He would appreciate it and be willing to repay the costs. So, I thought I would see if anyone on the site might be willing to help. It doesn't matter how old they are. If you are interested in sending a plate or two this direction just send me a PM and I will get you the address. If you are not interested in being paid back then I could donate the money he pays back to MSFC. Any takers?

Well, the first couple months here someone gave me the nickname Scuba Steve. The reason being is I can not wear the military inserts for goggles. I bought a pair of goggles off a civilian that would fit over my glasses. The only pair of goggles I found that would work. I had a name tag made up for it. One of the few days it downpoured here. I had to wear the wet weather gear as a gunner. It was the perfect chance to take a "Scuba Steve" photo. Just thought I would share it with everyone. I just wanted to give a background of it.

just barely over 2 months till I am back home... :excited:

:lol2: Nicely done.

I can't wait till you get back home and I am sure you can't wait so you can see your boys again?

Also about your previous post if I had the dollars I would certainly be willing to lend a hand. Maybe some other time if you stay in contact with him. Also I may as well wait till your back in the states, before Kat and I send that little something we got for you last year when we were on holidays.

Cool! How does the AK compare?

Well, it is extremely easy to fire. Properly trained on it someone could be pretty accurate. At the same time though I can understand how easy it is to lose control of the weapon and not be accurate at all...

Good thing is I now know if I ever was in a situation that required me to pick up an AK that I would be able to operate it without any difficulty.
