To Australian viewers:
Before Barack Obama claimed victory, political commentator Bruce Wolpe in the coverage of the US presidential elections on the ABC said that America already had a black President and his name was David Palmer in 24!

Redemption:
Terrifying when I saw in the credits that one of the co-Executive Producers is Brannon Braga.
Not a very good look for Gil Bellows.
The last time we saw Noah Daniels he was Acting President when Wayne Palmer when into a coma. Here he is the proper President about to and subsequently left office after losing the election to Allison Taylor. Is Wayne Palmer still alive?
Noticed appearing here is Sebestian Roche who was a regular in the short-lived Odyssey 5 created by 24 Executive Producer Manny Coto. Roche was not the only Odyssey 5 regular to turn up on 24 as Peter Weller was in Day 5.
Somehow not surprised in the way that Jack eventually yielded to the subpoena.

Overall Redemption is not bad, at least the long 24 drought has finally been broken.

TV Tonight reports that Day 7 will be shown on 7 sometime during the week beginning on February 2.

Also I just saw A Matter of Time on Doctor Who: The Ribos Operation DVD in which Lalla Ward says that K-9 was like Chloe's computer in 24, in which the a computer is part of solving the plot. Quite a pleasant surprise to hear a 24 reference on a Doctor Who DVD.

Day 7: 8AM-10AM:
After having a glimpse of her in the trailer last year glad that I finally got to see properly Annie Wersching as Renee Walker as she is gorgeous. Not to mention pretty good in her character.
John Billingsley appears as Michael Latham. His casting here is probably due to him being a former regular of Enterprise in which 24 Executive Producer Manny Coto was showrunner for its last season.
Also Janeane Garofalo makes a nice addition to the 24 cast.
A pretty good start to Day 7 which includes the mystery of what happened to the President's son since his mother's Inauguration and also the return of a familiar face after a lengthy absence.

24 moves to its new time of 9:30pm Sunday from February 8.

7 has bumped 24 on its Sunday slot by one hour to 10:30pm.

Bumped: 24 : TV Tonight

"jack may be back but last night’s premiere of 24 managed 602,000 across its two hours.

Today Seven has adjusted its plans for its Sunday line-up, rushing Bones back into schedule, to air at 9:30pm -but only as repeats.

This pushes 24 out to 10:30pm, and reduces it to a one hour episode instead of the planned two hour."

Since the ratings was on a Wednesday how does that justify the one hour bump on the already scheduled Sunday?

To Australian viewers:
There was a 24 reference on The Einstein Factor a couple of nights ago in which Peter Berner asked which Kiefer Sutherland character was named for a horse at last year's Melbourne Cup. The answer is Bauer but no one, neither the contestants nor the Brains Trust knew that this was the answer for that question.

24 itself was not shown as expected later that night due to 7's special coverage of the Victorian bushfires. Day 7 is expected to resume screening this Sunday.

Day 7: 10AM-11AM:
Quite a surprise that Bill and Chloe turned up here and I so knew that Tony was undercover.
Really hate it seeing Jack having to accost Renee.
Wow what an escape at the end.

Day 7: 11AM-12PM:
Mary Lynn Rajskub and James Morrison are added to the credits for the first time this season meaning that Annie is the fourth to be credited in contrast to being credited second in the previous episodes.
Ever Carradine appears for the first time in 24. She was a regular in the short-lived presidential series Commander In Chief in which one of her co-stars was Henry Lennix who had also appeared in 24 in Day 5. Incidentally Janeane Garofalo had a recurring role in the other presidential series The West Wing.
Very intense scene when Renee was alone in the hospital room with Alan Tanner.

Day 7: 12PM-1PM:
In hindsight Renee refusing to go back to the FBI HQ foreshadowed her being captured.
Brian is a traitor. Knew something was not right about him.
Jack being forced to do the (fake) execution of Renee is very reminiscent of him doing the (real) execution of Ryan Chappelle in Day 3.
Good cliffhanger and how is Renee going to get out of this one.

Day 7:1PM-2PM:
Renee gets saved by Bill and Chloe. Thank goodness for that.
Interesting curio about the writers for this episode - Brannon Braga and Manny Coto. The former was co-creator of Enterprise while the latter was that show's last showrunner.
Shocking plane collision happening right outside the White House.
Very intense Cabinet meeting which led to a Cabinet member walking out was well executed on screen.
Samantha asked Henry Taylor how he got into her apartment which is a silly question since she has a key under the mat!
Although it was not unexpected I hated that Samantha got killed.

Day 7: 2PM-3PM:
Very shocking to see Colonel Iké Dubaku being a murderer all of a sudden presented as an average Joe with a girlfriend.
Will Tony keep his word to Jack on turning himself in?

Day 7: 3PM-4PM:
I think this is the first time that Jack has been in the White House.
Colonel Dubaku is saved from being killed by Jack when he gets a call from his girlfriend's sister. The girlfriend's sister who wants that relationship to end ironically saved his life. If she had not made that call when she did, he would no longer be a problem and he will not be on his way presumably to kill her.

Day 7: 4PM-5PM:
A continuity error here as Chloe says that she has known Jack on and off for seven years. Chloe first appeared in Day 3. The time gap between Days 3 and 7 is actually more than 8 1/2 years.
Even though Sean was not exactly a friendly guy, was still surprised that he is revealed to be the mole at the FBI.

Day 7: 5PM-6PM:
Very disappointed that Erica was involved in the conspiracy but she was used by Sean.
Very brave of Marika derailing the car but sad that it caused her death.
Feel sorry for Renee with what she has to go through and it certainly did not get any better with her being the one to tell Rosa about Marika's death.
This episode felt like it was the end of this storyline but there are still 14 hours left.

To Australian viewers:
Coincidentally two people who appeared in this episode was in the double episode of Medium that was on 10 a couple of nights previously. Enuka Okuma (Marika) was in the episode Truth Be Told & Kurtwood Smith was in the episode that followed it A Necessary Evil.

Also hours before seeing 5PM-6PM saw the repeat of At The Movies in which Kiefer Sutherland's movie Monsters vs Aliens was among the films being reviewed.

Day 7: 6PM-7PM:
Just as President Taylor was about to offer an immunity deal with Ryan Burnett she says that Jack was going to prison while a traitor walks free and that something is wrong with this picture. An example of the world going mad.
Had an inkling that the target was going to be the White House and wow did I get that right.

Day 7: 8PM-9PM:
Oh my what a siege at the White House.
Cameron Daddo finally turned up as the Vice President he is coldest Vice President that I have seen in 24. His aide's comment about the Vice President's possible elevation to the presidency, could make him political untenable if a plan to rescue President Taylor goes wrong, was very callous.
After appearing in Redemption, Jon Voight finally turns up again as Jonas Hodges and I almost forgot about him.
Relieved that Bill and Aaron were not killed here.
Very tense end to this hour.

Day 7: 8PM-9PM:

Oops that was meant to be 7PM-8PM.

Here's 8PM-9PM:
Somehow was not surprised that General Juma had a different definition to the word "release".
So sad that Bill is killed off.
Jack kills General Juma. Watch out Jonas Hodges, you're next.
Should have known that Jack interrogating Ryan Burnett was not going to be as easy as he thought it would be.

Day 7: 9PM-10PM:
Had an inkling which proved true of what was going happen when Senator Mayer opened that door. Just worsens Jack's situation.
Olivia manages to proved that she did not leak Jack's interrogation of Burnett to a journalist. Somehow I am thinking maybe she did leak it but managed for it not to be traced back to her in order to embarrass Ethan.

Day 7: 10PM-11PM:
After John Billingsley had appeared earlier in the Day come the appearance of another former Enterprise regular Connor Trineer. Like his Enterprise colleage Trineer plays an innocent bystander who got caught up with the Day's events.
Very emotional moment seeing Ethan announcing his resignation.
I was right Olivia was the leaker.
Oh dear Jack being exposed to a bioagent.

Day 7: 11PM-12AM:
To Australian viewers: Since the show has been shown at 11pm this episode is quite appropriate however 7 finished screeing the episode at 11:50pm. What a wasted opportuniy.
Due to the fact that this was written by Manny Coto and Brannon Braga both of whom had worked on Star Trek, a couple of Star Trek names were namechecked Bob Justman and Rick Berman. They were mentioned as possible new White House Chief of Staff. Olivia says in her argument for Rick Berman "never underestimate the value of a fresh perspectiveâ€. Since Rick Berman had been in charge of the Star Trek franchise for almost a decade and a half that argument may be hard to swallow.
Tony unexpectedly got rescued by Greg Seaton but that turned out to be a trick. The man that Seaton shot dead in order to stage the rescue had said that Tony was being loyal to a government that treated him badly. Yet this man's loyalty to Starkwood is what led to his death by someone within. Death by irony.
Very good bulidup to the end with the music as Larry, Tony and the other FBI agents got cornered.

Day 7: 12AM-1AM:
Kim is mentioned as being the option to help Jack with his condition that he got from the bioagent. Despite his refusal to let Kim help him there is definitely no way she won't be appearing very soon.
Olivia sure had everything covered in order to kill the Starkwood story.
Jonas Hodges sure had the nerve to invite himself to the White House.
Very tense moment at the end when President Taylor called off the air strike.
