Thats pretty cool. I think I heard something about that. Also, in real life Sutherland has a few legal issues to deal with. Hopefully it will not hinder 24. Without Jack there is no 24.

It won't. I dont think so anyway.

Thanks for adding the spoiler box... it is a potential spoiler, although it is just an unconfirmed rumour currently lol.

i'll confirm the spoiler if the boxset has the alternate ending on.

well, the DVD finally arrived (flippin postal strike :x ) - first thing i did was check the deleted scenes - there is an 'alternate' ending:
BUT sadly its not the "Tony's still alive" version. No, instead its an extra 4 or 5 seconds in which jack dismantles his pistol, and hurls the pieces into the ocean. disappointing. i wanted to see the tony ending :(

roll on the new season then - which will not be hampered by Keifer's legal issues according to an article regarding his court appearance.

Here is a copy of a news article concerning the legal issues. I read somewhere else that he said he was willing to take more time in jail if it meant the people he worked with was not affected. Guess he kept his word. 48 days total and he can not get out of any of it. No Paris Hilton type jail sentence. But something tells me he would not complain as she did.

LOS ANGELES - It's 48 days in the clink for "24" star Kiefer Sutherland.

The Emmy-winning actor who plays all-American hero Jack Bauer on the hit Fox TV series pleaded no contest to a single DUI count yesterday in a deal that leaves little room for one of his signature TV escapes.

Sutherland must serve 18 days starting Dec. 21 to pay for the fact that his recent drunk-driving bust violated the probation terms of his 2004 DUI conviction. Cushy house arrest with electronic monitoring is strictly forbidden. He then must serve another 30 days by July, with no Paris Hilton-style reprieve, officials said.

"He has to serve the time ... [There's] no credit for overcrowding," said Frank Mateljan, spokesman for Los Angeles city prosecutor Rocky Delgadillo.

Sutherland, now a twice-convicted drunk driver, was busted last month after making an illegal U-turn in West Hollywood and flunking a breath test at the scene.

"I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited," Sutherland, 40, said in a statement. "I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox."

Fox issued a statement of support for Sutherland reiterating its commitment to a "long relationship" with him. The actor must also complete an 18-month alcohol-education program and get therapy.

There is another 24 reference in House in the episode Whatever It Takes which I saw just hours ago:
House got in a CIA hospital and remarked: "Looks a lot better on 24."

I just saw something that said the premiere date was being postponed to ensure they can release all of it without interruption. Has anyone else heard this? Will have to keep an eye out on the official site for the info.

My Dad told me its On hold too, now the question is, is it really cause of the writers strike or is it because Kiefer is in Jail for 2 months cause of his 3rd DUI?

It is because of the writers' strike. Filming on Day 7 had not finished when the strike began.

Hopefully filming will be completed when the strike is over, whenever that is.

I had a feeling that writer's strike was going to hurt. That is so irritating. I will refrain from saying what I think since this is a family site and as a part of the staff here. I have to set a good example. LOL

Here is a quick update:

News Story:
NEW YORK (AP) -- One fallout of the Hollywood writers strike is that fans of Fox's drama "24" have to wait until next January to see Jack Bauer again.

The network has committed to air a full season on consecutive weeks and had been planning to start last month. If it had started airing new episodes soon, the season finale would not have taken place until the summer, when TV networks rarely show their high-profile programs.

Even though eight episodes for this season had already been filmed before the beginning of the writers strike, producers would have had to ramp up production soon to complete the season.

So "24" represents this television season's most prominent casualty due to the writers strike.

A January 2009 start seemed the best way to comply with viewers' wishes that a season's episodes run without interruption to conclusion, Fox said on Thursday.

____________

This irritates me to no end. I could see this actually killing off the show completely. This means we will have to wait almost 2 whole years between the end of season 6 and the start of season 7.

Saw the Rules of Engagement episode Young and the Restless and it had a 24 reference. The reference has Russell (David Spade) saying to his friends to call Jack Bauer as he (Russell) is dating a girl who is 24!

Incidentally I first watched 24 just after I turned 24!

Although Day 7 won't be shown until next year, a two hour TV movie will be shown later in the year which takes place between Days 6 and 7:
TV.com: 24 prequel TV-movie in works

"Season seven of Fox's popular thriller isn't due 'til '09, but a two-hour 24 movie set after season six is coming this fall.

While television viewers may argue that their lives were ruined by the writers' strike, no one took it harder on the chin than those involved with Fox's 24. The show's seventh season was due to begin airing in January, but was postponed a year to January 2009 in order to air its season uninterrupted after production was ground to a halt.

But out of all this mess there is one bit of good news. The producers are working on a 24 two-hour television movie and plan on airing it this fall, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie will detail events that take place between seasons six and seven, something that is usually saved for shorts on the show's DVD boxed sets. Further details on the movie are still under wraps, including its format; 24 hinges on its "real time" presentation, which sees each episode (24 total) of each season represent one hour of time in a day.

The crew managed to finish several episodes of season seven before the strike stopped work, and will return to finish up shooting the season in April. However, when they return to work they will do so without cocreator Joel Surnow, who decided to leave the show in mid-February"

My only question is with the format. Unless they do it in real time. It might ruin the whole set up. I wait to see.

24 was briefly mentioned by Russell T Davies in the Torchwood Declassified episode Animal Pharm due to the fact that it was one of many things that guest star Alan Dale did.

The TV movie finally has a name - Exile.

Trailer:
TV Tonight: 24: Exile trailer

This week I saw a Robot Chicken episode which included a Star Wars sketch when a phone rang and the ringtone is undoubtedly that of the ringtone heard on 24!
