Real quality work there Majestic, sweet rendition of her! Can't wait to see what you plan on the rollbar.

I'd like to ask how you're going to do the starbases? The ENT ones in Legacy were pretty good but I felt they were too TMP-like. Any thoughts on this?

PS
I've sent the "you know what" to your inbox. Sorry for the delay.

I am leaving the roll-bar off. I feel that is a TMP era feature not one for the ENT era. Plus this ship isn't part of the mainstream fleet either, but of the United Earth First Fleet, I am sure you Jetfreak know where I am going with this. ;)

The NW class will also be part of the First Fleet.

I plan to do stations like the TOS K7, just having them as one central structure, (no three sections going out like the K7). I agree with you about the Legacy stations, they were just cheap kitbashes of the TMP Spacedock that re-appeared in TNG.

A huge thank you for the file as well, I was in no rush for it, I just finished uploading it too.

But surely without a roll bar the driver and passengers will be injured in the event of a roll... no... wait... em... riiiight - I see where I've gone wrong...

Just kidding - I love the model - needs some smoothing (but you knew that already, amirite?) The minuteman class was actually one of my favorite classes from legacy - it kinda bridges the ENT - TOS era well, imho. Legacy was great! Although I do feel they should have included the Asia Class (my all time favorite ship class).

The only real shame is that the whole ENT era thing clashes so badly with the Starfleet Museum thing - and I love the Starfleet Museum...

Nice work on the Polaris. Must admit to some confusion, for the rollbar or lack of, is this on the Polaris or the NW?

Great work indeed Majestic. I would love to see a Bonaventure style ship with the ENT features. I may try my luck on that. Also a Constitution - ish style ship with ENT features. Anywho.....Great job again and I can not wait to see them completed.

I have actually learnt that if I add certain tags to the texture/material names, that it will automatically smooth the model upon exportation for game use. So now I can be lazy.

Both, I fell roll-bar's are a late 23rd century feature. However if it us really requested I can add one to the NW for you, however my version will not have it included.

Eventually I plan to have this mod as a find of progressing mod, where I'll have ENT post-ENT/pre-TOS and TOS. So I may end up doing the Bonaventure and Constitution in any case. :)

Really? I've never heard of this, which tags would those be?

Hey Majestic, I just thought I'd throw in some ideas for other ENT ships.

The ones currently hosted in JOAT website are pretty good. Especially the Adamant Class, Canopus Class and the Icarus Class.

Here's some pics if you're interested. Maybe you can get a few ideas from them.

Thank you Jetfreak, the Icarus and Adamant I have seen on sci-fi meshes. I am trying to keep away from roll-bars unfortunately for some. I am also keeping away from catamaran hulls which also strikes out the Canopus. However there is a high chance that I'll eventually end up doing the Icarus as I have always been fond of that design, I personally prefer it to the Daedalus in fact.

But I have already got the Earth ENT fleet all sorted, I just need to model and texture the ships really.

I have also done some more on the ship I have been working on, and have even sort out the registry which was a bit of a pain adjusting the text paths to suit the contour of the hull. But I got there in the end.

You know, if you took the Polaris and turned it upside down, squint your eyes and really look, it turns into a TOS era NX class... no kidding... try it!

Also Ex Astris Scientia does not allow linking to pics JF - idiotic, I know, but you need to link to somewhere else with the pics...

If you don't mind doing it, I'd love one with the rollbar please. Looking at the original, I can't picture it without the rollbar. Interested to see how it looks without it, but I'd really like it to retain the rollbar :)
Cheers mate. That Polaris looks pretty sweet all coloured in. Out of curiosity, what does the cl stand for?

Great work, that is a fine model! Can't wait to see it textured!

Personally, I love everything with the Miranda/Centaur configuration, no matter if it has a roll-bar or not. Before R5D5 released his 2nd ship pack, almost 75% of the Wastelands ships were Miranda-style.

Sure no problem, I can do that.

CL stands for Light Cruiser. It's a naval prefix that I thought I would adopt for the first fleet in the ENT era. As they don't like the Earth Military nor alien races whom they see as a threat to Earth.

Pretty much they are a bunch of ex-cargo service crews whom lost their ships and many of their friends and family to the Romulans and blame Earth and the military for not protecting them. They blame the Romulans too, but don't stop with pointy ear aliens and believe in what Terra Prime stands for, that Earth should stand alone and Earth for Humans.

Well it is to stop bandwidth theft as they have to pay for it. MSFC does the same, we have hot-linking to images blocked.

 Thank you, I try. In fact I am trying to stick as close to his original philosophy as I can. I have done a few very minor changes but other than that its pretty much the same. I'll be having the first fleet as a warp-in bonus feature for the Earth faction.

Definitely sounds good, and the rollbar variant would be much appreciated. I like the cl connotation, though it makes me wonder what the ues stands for on the Yorktown. I'd assumed it was united earth ship

I'll clear this up for you, ships like the Yorktown are United Earth Military ships (say Starfleet ships as I haven't fully decided on the official Earth Military name as of yet).

Now ships like the one posted above and NW classes are first fleet ships. The first fleet was formed from the survivors of a Romulan attack on a number of ships belonging to the Earth Cargo Service. These survivors tired of not being well defended by Earth went to the Earth Council and managed to secure themselves several combat ships, most of older designs and some have been built from the left-overs of several designed ships.
They declared themselves the United Earth First fleet, a Military Elite Group of Earth. However the condition of the handover of these ships was that they would become solely responsible for protecting the shipping lanes of Earth, which they gladly accepted which freed up Starfleet units to head to the front lines and right the war with the Romulans. It was one of the key points in the entire war. They renamed the ships after their old freighter ships or lost loved ones, decided to go for a more traditional Earth prefix system and set out. Over-time they started to develop a real xenophobic opinion towards alien species and they expanded often getting officers whom were rejected from Starfleet Academy or dishonourably dis-charged for a number of reasons The First fleet is still every much active in the early 25th century.
Pretty much they are the official military of Earth, like how the Andorian's still have the Home Guard. While Starfleet became the Federation's united fleet, member planets, especially at the beginning of the Federation reign were still un-trusting of their allies and had their own fleets for protection of their systems. These fleets for the most part were reduced in size as Starfleet became better equipped in the 23rd and 24th centuries however they still remain.

The First Fleet is actually a creation of Dave Metlesits, a friend of Jetfreak's and mine on DeviantArt and isn't a traditional fan, preferring to not be called a Trekkie and has created his own view on the series which I rather like as it makes sense to me.

I hope this clears it up for you now, that is why the Polaris has a Cl registration and the Yorktown and Enterprise classes have prefixes starting with N.

And yes UES stands for United Earth Ship. :)

I have pretty much finished the Polaris' texture. I added some depth to the parts as well to give it a more 3d look.

 Fantastic job.

I like your explanation of the United Earth Fist Fleet. Its sort of like the Merchant Marines form WWI and WWII. on the history.

I too had an idea of a first fleet but mine was the fleet of the Alliance after the signing of the Charter but prior to the full implementation of the Federation.

Awesome stuff there, on par - if not better - than the Legacy texture I'd say. Love the idea of the first fleet as well, the more militarized Starfleet fits the ENT era in my opinion.

Thank you all. I really can't take much credit for the First Fleet as it's a Dave creation I am just using it as I like the idea. But I can take credit for the texture and thank you. I am considering making the windows a little smaller as when I put the ship beside the Yorktown the windows don't line up to be the same sizes. So I'll probably re-do the windows on the texture.

I started working on the Daedalus today but I'm having some difficulty with getting the textures right. It's another of the Legacy ports. I think I'll be re-applying the texture to the saucer/sphere and nacelles to fix up the stretch issue I am having especially on the saucer.

Okay I have started the NW class as has been requested, which I have also named the Konovalov class, a Russian name. Why should all ships be from names that are known to be connected with English speaking nations?

Please ignore the registry as it's still got the Polaris textures on it. This ship is approximately the same size as the previously done Polaris, and is again considered to be a light cruiser. I have added some info about the ship's history to the screenshot and it's still a heavy WIP. I plan for it not to be a direct copy of the older model but kind of re-envision and update it a bit.

Agreed, diversified cultures was always a trademark of every Trek Cast.

I can already imagine her fleet roster. We'd have the starships Chaplya, Markov, Kuznetsov, Sputnik, Soyuz, Tsnaev etc...

Just suggesting some names

I have progressed more on the design, I changed the position of the nacelles to give it a smaller feel plus to keep it away from the general look of the Enterprise/NX class.

I have pretty much completed the modelling except for the deflector dish section and the roll-bar that has been requested. I'll however only have that version for the download version as an optional choice, the one that I'll use will not have the roll-bar.

And I'll probably use them too.
