• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I got myself started on a little project. I am kit-bashing together four Nebula Variants. Each variant will have one of the Nebula's special weapons. I have completed a Melbourne variant (repair crew), an Arizona variant (point of defense), and am currently working on a Manhattan variant (Mannheim Effect). I have two different models for this variant. I kinda like both so I thought I would ask what y'all here think.

Note: 1) The purple area is a glow. 2) The names are subject to change.

Also, here are the other two variants I have.

I have the station done. I built it myself but used stock textures from three different stations to do it.

My First TMP model

This is my first TMP model. This is the USS Phobos. At built her with a low poly count in mind so there is not a lot of detail to her. She stands a 1238 polies.

Enjoy.

Not bad mate, very similar to the YY version. I think ours was a little higher however so kudos to you.

Actually the YY Phobos is 1,756 polies. The primary differences are in I put a bunch more detail in the secondary hull and Nacelles. However, his model does have more polies in the saucer section.

Not a bad little model there. I give it 2 thumbs up.:thumbsup:

Now let's see it textured.

I included a sample of the Phobos

Hello:
I really like what you did with the Nebula class ships, and the concept for that yard is intriguing and cool.
Keep it up!

I started trying out some texturing on my AR Excelsior. I would like everyone's opinion. I like the way it is going but, I don't know that it fits on whats suppose to be such a refined ship.

I don't see how it does not fit. It looks good.

What I mean is that the Excelsior is such a refined ship with smooth lines and "soft skin." Think of her as being like Angelina Jolie, gorgeous to look at but fierce enough to not want to cross. The textures I have thus far (the more I look at it) looks more like what should be on the older ships, a la Kelvin. I hope I am making sense.

You are. I do not think she's turning out badly at all. It's your ship. If you are unhappy with the way she looks then maybe lessening the contrast between the aztec sections, or making them a little bigger in relation to each other would help. I think she looks like she's seen some action and has decided to wear her battle stained armour with pride. The stains and scars earned on duty in service to the Federation are the honors due a proud warrior. They should be displayed with pride. She's earned them. But what do I know? I've been staring at the war marked hide of a certain Colonial battlestar for the past three weeks, lol. And if you think this looks bad, try looking at Kreeargh's original texture set for the Cygnus class Gunstar. It certainly is...green. lol.

I rather like the unique look. Just keep the ideas flowing and see where it gets you.

Oh, and just make some extra space for the registry. AR ships have large labels lol.

I am grounded!!!

Sorry y'all. My Photoshop 7 has quit working on me. I opened it today to work on my textures and it will load but will not let me edit them. Even when I try to start a new project, it won't allow me to do anything. I have been using this program for years never had a problem with it. Maybe I will just dump it try to reload it from scratch. Until then, my projects are on hold.

EDIT: well, I just opened it again and it was working fine. I am gonna have to keep an eye on this.

I applied my textures I started for the Excelsior onto my Kelvin and I must say that I like the results thus far.

That's been simmering on low heat on a back burner of my mind since I released the Miranda. ;)

Gonna broaden my horizons

I now have Blender and Autodesk 3DS Max. I want to learn how to do some top quality images. The Pythons for Blender is not working right. I have Vista 64 and the plugins were not guaranteed to work. I need to find if Max has any plugins. Wish me luck yall.

I believe MAX has .sod imp/exporters. I thought I saw them on FF aswell as their source page(for plugins), but I could be mistaken.

I am doing it again.

I used another of Madman's models. I took his Star Trek 2009 Warbird and recreated it using MS3D. My version is all of 1100 poly. Tell me what y'all think.

Bernd Schneider recently posted some really nice screenies of this Klingon ship at Ex Astra Scientia. Were it not against both his policy and MSFC's policy to hyperlink I'd give you a direct route-- all I can tell you is that on the main site, under "Updates" at right, if you click on the link in the 07.04.10 update, it SHOULD give you a page full of pics and info about the 2009 film's various vehicles and starships. Very close to what you have already, to be sure.

:D
