It's cool, we've all been patient before, a few more days won't hurt.

I'm also planning to retain the blue accents on the hull in order to retain more faithful to your original concept. I seem to have omitted them in the earlier Seraphim, but not this time.

Btw, and ideas on her size?

Hello:
With an orthos pic and full info on the ship, it makes things easier for anybody who would like to try a story about that ship or maybe a 3d model of it.

GOod job:thumbsup:.

Hello guys, time for a well deserved update. :D

I've kept my promise to finish the texturing process by this weekend and here are the end results of this foray. I'm pretty happy with the results and I personally love that I added the blue hull accents, really makes a good contrast with the rest of the hull.

She also has several elements in common with the Seraphim Class. I retained the same ethos in the nacelle grilles, pennants and other hull parts.

Mesh wise, I think there's still some things to sort out IMHO. Especially at the front portion of the secondary hull, there's some slight smoothing errors there. :lol2:

Great work as ever, and the blue elements do work well.

That's a bit annoying. It took a lot of effort to get that area in a fit state before I passed it along. Wibble! How do we want to handle this? I can go back to the original mesh and try to tidy it up some more? But I assume that Maj will then need to rehardpoint it and all that other good stuff needed to make it actually work. Or perhaps it'd be better to try and tweak the milkshape mesh (which someone other than me would need to do). Or do we leave as is?

Fantastic work on the textures Jet.

If you did go back to the original mesh both my work and Jetfreak's would've been wasted as not only would I have to re-coordinate the textures onto the model which I wouldn't be able to get the same way, Jetfreak would have to re-do the textures.

A lot of work for something so minor as a mesh welding issue that one probably won't notice in-game anyway.

Seems to me to be a very minor issue. Considering the horrendous appearance of all of the Stock ships. And I can certainly appreciate the desire to have her as perfect as she can be. Thank you all for wanting her to be so. But still, she's bee-you-ti-full as is. Me want!

Yeah, and its on the underside of the ship too. This is after all an rts, so we will mostly only see the top. Only nitpickers care about a tiny mesh dificulty on the bottom of a ship.

I think that there is no need for a redo, ss it stands it is a real nice peace of work that will look right at home next to the Seraphim. :)

Jet the the blue accents really do set her off don't they :)

Thank you. And I can't quite bring myself to disagree. She's certainly an odd one. But better in 3D and properly textured.

One of the beautiful things about here, K_merse, is it is entirely okay with everyone if it turns out you don't like her. You'll not get hate mail or snarky comments directed at you on the sly or anything at all like this from people here. And this is a good thing IMO.

Yep, we're generally not like the people who insult others for saying something nice about ST '09 or that you don't like a certain ship. Your opinion is your opinion. Not everybody will agree with you, but we'll still stick by you.:)

Anyway, back to the ship. I really like it rendered, though I honestly wasn't sure about the sketch at first. Now that we have some renders, I can truthfully say that I like the design as a whole, especially the wings and that little bit cut out of the front of the saucer.

It is a good thing that we all have different taste or the world would be a dull place in deed.

Lets look at a real case in point that some hate some others love

Case in point id the A-10 Thunderbolt II

Design over function

At it best its is not your typical fighter in fact is like no other fighter in the world and has has been called the " Redheaded stepchild of the Air Force" and Nick named the Warthog for it over all looks

In fact A-10s were initially an unwelcome addition to many in the Air Force. Most pilots switching to the A-10 did not want to because fighter pilots traditionally favored speed and appearance

But it dose it's Job better than aircraft in it's roll "close ground support"
add to that the A-10 is exceptionally tough. Its strong airframe can survive direct hits from armor-piercing and high-explosive projectiles up to 23 mm. The aircraft has triple redundancy in its flight systems, with mechanical systems to back up double-redundant hydraulic systems. This permits pilots to fly and land when hydraulic power or part of a wing is lost. Flight without hydraulic power uses the manual reversion flight control system; this engages automatically for pitch and yaw control, and under pilot control (manual reversion switch) for roll control. In manual reversion mode, the A-10 is sufficiently controllable under favorable conditions to return to base and land, though control forces are much higher than normal. The aircraft is designed to fly with one engine, one tail, one elevator and half a wing torn off.

add to this its primary built-in weapon is the 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling-type cannon. is nothing to laugh at

Getting back to the ship

My point to all of this is she built to do her roll that being of a anti cloak tactical Frigate. She not here to win a fashion contest but just to do her job and do it well .

Sorry Hellkite, being sick I hadn't done any modelling or modding work. However last night I got on the PC and hardpointed the ship and sent it off to Jet, he quickly did what was needed to be done and it's now uploaded and in the download section: Peredhil Download
