The name comes from Lord of the rings it another name for Elrond of Rivendell it means Half-elf. I named this class in honor of my old friend Elrond.

forgot to add :

That and it is from the same era as the Seraphim Class "2414"

I see her as a part of the Carrier group

Whatever happened to him, I haven't heard from him in ages and I am also unable to access his site, says I am banned. Something up with his settings I think.

This one would be most excellent as part of a Seraphim escort group. Two to three of these covering the primary threat axis to the group, backed up by a few Interceptors and covered a pair of Lunas or Dawnstars ought to make an OPFOR commander think really hard about attrition issues and the like. Can't hide. Can't run. Can't shoot fast enough to avoid damage to his own assets. Believe he'd call it a day and go home. Unless he was protecting something really important to him.

And think of how it would look to have a Federation ambassador-at-large arriving at the head of such a group. Plenty of room aboard the carrier to carry any number of special assistants and lots of trinkets and gimcracks. Like one of the characters in a book I am currently reading says, "Y' see, Mistress, with ones like this lot here, y' got to put on side, see? Otherwise they'll not pay any attention when you're talking to them 'bout important stuff."

"Side" indeed. rofl.

Gun port Diplomacy Like the Grate White Fleet

In the twilight of Roosevelt's administration, the president dispatched sixteen U.S. Navy battleships of the Atlantic Fleet on a worldwide voyage of circumnavigation from 16 December 1907 to 22 February 1909. With their hulls painted white; the Navy's peacetime color scheme, except for the gilded scrollwork with a red, white, and blue banner on their bows, these ships would later come to be known as the Great White Fleet.

The purpose of the grand endeavour was multifaceted. At home and on the world stage it demonstrated that the US had become a major seapower, it provided an opportunity to improve the seaworthyness of the fleet, and it served as a showpiece of American goodwill visiting numerous countries and harbours. In addition, specifically as Japan had arisen as a major seapower with the 1905 annilation of the Russian fleet at Tsushima, it sent a message to Tokyo that the American fleet could be deployed anywhere, even from its Atlantic ports, and would be able to defend American interests in the Philippines and the Pacific. After the fleet had crossed the Pacific, Japanese statesmen realizing that the balance of power in the East had changed since the Root-Takahira Agreement that defined relevant spheres of interest of the United States and Japan.

Maybe not quite so obvious as the Great White Fleet, but it was in the bckground when I was thinking about it. Power projection isn't just about guns its about butter as well. Makes sense the Federation would do something like this. And would do so internally as well if two or more member states decided to rattle some sabers. People seem to view the Federation as some huge monolith which is always in consensus and has little friction inside. I don't think this is the case all the time.

Hello:
As I said before, I'd like to see this ship in 3d too. It's mission profile and roles are very interesting, indeed for a more specialized fleet like the ships that would go with the Seraphim class (for example).

Very nice design .

The guns and butter are always there. The point is it's only a matter of perspective, but which is best needed? This can be best determined by observing the ones you try to help. I've found in my experiences give them the first one they take notices of works the best. For if they see what they need first.

The truly needy don't see the gun first What they see is only the empty bellies of their children and the will see this no matter the amount of armament in front of them.

Thanks for the glowing comment Styer_Crisis

here we go again

Yep ;):lol2:

Well, I'm a tad busy at the moment with the HRM and a few other bits and pieces, but (and I know I'll regret this!) if no one else fancies a shot then I'd be willing to take a crack at her. This time as I know it can be converted to .obj I'd do the job with conversion in mind so it could come out better than the Serephim.

But, it'd still need someone on the milkshape end to finish the conversion and do the textures.

Thank you and you know my friend there is not pressure on you to do it in any shape form or fashion.

I won't mind doing the coordination if Jetfreak is willing to do the texturing like on the Seraphim, I am no good at TNG era textures. The highest I will go is TLE with the Ambassador and co.

Also on terms of conversion, I have another program I bought that actually could double as an conversion program so it may make conversion easier KJC.

Well it all starts with you:

Hellkite-> KJC -> Me -> Jetfreak -> Me -> Jetfreak :lol2:

That's the order the ship gets done in. It goes back to me again for hardpointing before it goes to Jetfreak again for the final touches. :)

You know, this really is a curious design (which is bad 'cos I read that as a challenge). Would you mind pointing out what you think all the lumps and bumps are? Also struggling to spot an impulse engine there
