• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

This is probably a dumb question, but is it free for a trial time or if I download it now for free then I have it forever and it won't be deactivated in game once the time passes?

Should be a free permanent addition to your game library, I think. I already owned a copy, though, so I'm not entirely certain.

I still have other games I have gotten for free on Steam. Once you claim it and add it to your library, It is yours on any PC you log into Steam from.

Sometimes they do a thing where it's only given away as a free trial and is removed from your library when the promotion is over, though.

Sigh, if only my computer could run Sins. Oh well. o_O
My laptop isn't high end but is able to run it. Perhaps look into a cheap laptop so you can play it. ;)

Might as well give it a try. My aging CPU manages to run stuff that the minimum system requirements say need a much newer and beefier processor. Even if it doesn't run, you can keep it in your library and install it later.

@Hellkite and CABAL, thanks for the link and suggestions. My comp is from 2005 still uses XP (That's why the pinnacle of gaming I have here is Armada 2, LOL). So looking over those specs, if I try to install that my computer will simply laugh at me, hack NORAD and launch the world's nuclear payload for the rise of the machines arguing I was trying to kill it with installing Sins.

I can maybe download it but since I would have to buy a whole new computer to play it, I would have to download it again once I got the new rig (Unless I can burn it to a DVD).

Looks like I am SOL when it comes to playing Sins. I can't even find a worthy copy to purchase from Amazon for posterity.

You might could get it and then pause the download. That way you have it on your library but not waste time and space downloading something you can't play.

The Titanfall season pass is currently free on Origin. Do note that you need to have first purchased Titanfall itself.

It's required for the Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE Creation Kits. And I think a card game of some sort?

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year Edition (includes all expansions and minor DLC) is currently free on the Bethesda site! This give-away does require the Bethesda Launcher, if you don't have that already.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the minor DLC may not be included. They were all made free a while ago, though, and can be downloaded here.
This offer has been extended to March 31 due to technical issues. If you missed it or were having trouble on the 26th, you have until the end of the month to try again.

Also, I recommend these three mods as essential:
  • OpenMW - Not strictly a mod, but a free and open source replacement engine. System requirements are a bit higher than the stock game, but it runs on pretty low-end systems by modern standards, is 64-bit, and is far more stable than Bethesda's buggy modified version of the Gamebryo engine. Not quite finished, but all of the Bethesda-made content, including the expansions, is fully playable.
  • Patch for Purists - A bug fix patch covering scripting errors, developer oversights, and other non-engine issues. Developed because the original Unofficial Patch started incorporating subjective balance changes and other edits beyond its intended scope.
  • Delayed DB Attack V2 - Delays the start of the Tribunal expansion until late in the main quest. Tribunal is high-level content and is basically a sequel to the main quest, but the expansion doesn't actually check for plot progress or character level before throwing a high level assassin at you and starting the plot. This fixes that.

A bit late, but apparently on April 3 everyone who had Borderlands 1 on Steam got the updated Borderlands GOTY Enhanced added to their library and I didn't even notice. It includes all the DLC, even if you didn't have it, on top of graphical upgrades.

To promote restoration efforts for Notre Dame, Ubisoft is giving away Assassin's Creed Unity for free for one week via Uplay. Visit this link or open Uplay to download.
