• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Ok guys, heres a long over due update. I did not get to the point I wanted to be at, at the end of summer, but what this means is that I can just keep adding features without any kind of release date to adhere to. I finally got time to add Maj's PRP Valkyrie in, and it now plays a proper role in the game. My only hope is that the more time I spend on this thing, the better it gets. I would hate to spend so much time on it and never have it get any better.:lol2:

Those are amazing pics! Now you figured there is no wonder I made my KEW weapons similar to yours, they are good-looking and very close to canon :D .

Here are some more pictures. I finally fixed those pesky running lights. They now match the softer look of the ones inf FO. the first picture is the one with the fixed lights, the rest are just because I had them.:sweat:

Wow, you sure have a knack to take the pics at the right time, because it can be hard to get a pick of the weapons in an eye-candy way :) .

Just one question. what is that blue beam from the Raptor in pic5?

Oh, heh, yeah, well, my Cygnus is a support ship, so it has the ability to boost repair times of ships. Normally, you just have to get it close(It boosts computer speeds, blah, blah, can better calculate, blah blah, resulting in faster repairs.:)) and it repairs, but I got it to sometimes automatically launch a few 'utility' raptors which repair a ship, much in the same way a station is built. So...its a welding beam.:sweat:

I guess I'll just keep posting promo pics.:sweat:

I guess with FO, we don't all have to be as good at taking pics as Jetfreak. It lets us take average pics without trying and if we actually try, we can almost be as good as he is.:p Almost.:angel:

Heh, well I just read what I just posted, and i need to clarify, I don't in any way, think my pics are 'Almost as good as Jetfreaks.':sweat: It sounded better in my head.:sweat:

Y'all need to hurry up an' finish this, please. The people who play FO deserve some quality BSG material. Once again, if there is anything in the Half Race Mod which would allow Y'all to complete this faster, then use it. Although I do not play FO, I am sure there are some amongst those which do whom are counting the minutes until Y'all, 'Spool up the Drive. Prepare to Jump!'

Good job! There isn't so much quality work around A2 that there isn't room for a little more.

heh, thanks thunder, I am doing my best to get it done soon. Once I get a few more maps, and get it to stop going oos in multiplayer, I shouldn't have too much more to do before the first release. Just a few fixed here and there, and a little more balencing...:sweat:

Oh, well, I guess it will take what it takes.

Hey Zaxx! Remember that easter egg in fleetops we found sometime ago? A fighter craft as I remember. I dunno, but I think it could actually fit in as a 'Non-Cannon add-on'.

I am not certain if BSG lovers hate Non-Cannon designs. But I think it would fit and blend in very well.

I believe that Zaxxon is trying to go for canonicity - having the Pyro wouldn't be all that kosher :p .

yeah, as canon as possible, but I do like the ship. the descent fighter actually resembles the raptor alot.

Haters gonna hate, no matter what. I say don't worry about the losers drinking Hatorade. As long as they're fussing about something I've done, they're leaving the other people alone.

The Enterprise, a Star Wars Blockade Runner, the ship from Tiberius Sun, I may have missed a couple. BSG is known for having "guest stars" :D.

Hey guys. A little update, and some bad news. I won't be releasing the mod as soon as hoped due to some changes in FO release dates.

I also copyed T-foot and changed the color of my fighter weapons and am working on adding glows to all the ships. I"ll post pics after I've finished and sent them all off to Majestic.

Hello:
Since most ships don't have as many glows as Star Trek ships (because of things like the nacelles and deflector dishes on Trek ships) the engine glows for BSG ships can work very well, giving them a more unique, and accurate, look for them.

The pic looks fantastic, the FleetOps backgrounds sure are very realistic and it makes your Raiders look menacing and great. Keep it up!

Wow, its been a while, and I am sad to say i don't have alot to show for it. The mod was converted to 3.1.5 a while ago, with all specials working, and I have been working on rotating the hardpoints on my ships to match those on the real ship, but my latest big improvement is the addition of custom SOD based cannon effects. See for yourself.:)

Now we are only missing one thing...the Cylon War era Baseship. the one with two discs smashed on top of each other rather than two Y's.

:p I doubt I will get those 'certain things' in until after Phoenix gets back into map making. I am not so good, and it will take alot of work to get them to work as I plan. Don't worry though, they will get done eventually. Once I get the base 1.0 mod finished, there are plenty of other features I can add.

One thing I had thought of was making a realistic looking flak field. I don't know if it would work really well, however I feel certain that if I were able to properly code a sod with explosion emitters, I might be able to make a 'field' of explosions that caused damage.

Thoughts?

You could always ask TUN or one of the other intrepid map-makers too :)

I think that sort of flak field would be pretty darn cool :cool:

Yeah, I was thinking about asking TUN, but I wanted to get my basics finished first.

As an update, my current to do list consists of at least two special weapon upgrades(including the murcury's forward cannons which will become a special weapon) inclusion of the point defense weapon on a few ships, and a few other things. I would really like to change the station from the 'star' thing, to something that would be suitable for both cylons and colonials and be better than the current 'star'. :sweat:

There are just not enough BSG stations out there.:silence:

Well, if you only can have one station-shape for both races (as seen in your old videos) then maybe an asteroid base could work, or maybe to look for some multi-race stations hidden somewhere in Armada pages.

Or maybe to have an invisilbe sod as a starter, then when you choose the race, the station could appear (kinda like a basic FTL effect?). You can have a Colonial base for Colonials and maybe a scaled-down version of the Cylon Colony for the Cylons.

I would definitely do that if there were a cylon colony out there.:sweat: It seems like the obvious choice for the cylons.

I haven't done that as you all know I was burned-out and now I have, again, many things in my plate :lol:.
