• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I thought you guys might like this. Been working on it for a few months now, and just released the first version. I got some help to iron out the bugs and get the preview fixed, so the 1.0 version of the preview should hopefully be released by new years, but you guys know how release dates go. :p

It is very important that you read this!!!!!

In its current form the mod is VERY buggy. the best way to play it is to select a race (other than the bsg race because it doesn't work most of the time) and add the ships via map editor.

Current mod features:

Mercury class battle fleet-

Assult raptor- 2 missiles
viper mk2 - 2 kews, ace statious
viper mk7 - 3 kews, advanced armor, ace statious

battlestar- mercury class
r1 - kew- launches 3 mk2- missiles- FTL
r2 - launches 3 mk7, 2 mk2- a duel forward bounted kew- *mk7s buildable after last deploy*
r3 - launches 5 mk7- 4 forward kews
r4 - 1 raptor *at first deploy*- armor - *alwayse buildable fighters*
r5 - FTL range increase- speed increase- accuracy increase- *extra viper squadd*- also launches 2 raptors
#####Veteran classified, and not included#####

Cylon battlefleet

raiders-2 kews, advanced technology i.e. rate increases, hull strength, ect

basestars
r1 - missiles have three targets - launches 3 raiders
r2 - FTL - 5 raiders
r3 - 6 raiders - special energy rate and hull increase
r4 - FTL unlimited range - missiles target 6
r5 - 8 raiders - single tracking long range missile

Alright, got the bugs worked out if anyone is interested. heres the updated post

Hello All you who care!! Though I was beat by the release of 3.1, I have decided to release this anyway. here is the release of the BSG addon mod preview, version 1.1. This version should have fixed all the bugs(with extreme thanks to blade and ryderstorm, for all their help), and as a treat featrues an all new gui!

Note: This version is not made for FO 3.1, it was made with 3.0.7, thereby doesn't use any of the new features. The next full version will be a non-stand alone mod made for 3.1. This is still just a preview, and will work stand-alone.


Current mod features:

3.0.7...I think it will take some extra work to get into 3.1...Im still deciphering 3.1....but zaxxon is working on getting it ready for 3.1

##right now, the download doesn't need anything but the CD to play, but it is made with 3.0.7. It will take some time to adapt the sprite entries to 3.1.##

because it is still only a preview version, and there by still includes all the things in Fleet ops, I think it would be best to not host it here. However, when I get a mod/patch version that doesn't include any work accept mine, or work i have permission to release, I would be happy to host it here. Right now the link will take you to a fileuploader instead of any particular site.

sorry bout that, Im just fast as in FTL :D

On another note I bet the BSG mod will look even better with the 3.1 interface. I was thinking last night how super cool it be to have a battlestar with its graphic showing positions of gun turrents and such with their recharge rates and everything.

megaupload is just a 3rd party file uploader that some people had used at fo.net I am not particularly fond of it either, but fo.net has a cap on their uploads, so I don't have much choice.

Nice image, I prefer my Valkyrie better, but still looking good. :thumbsup:

oh, and I am not able to use your one outside of msfc, so i just use that one for the public mod.

Is this D/L just the BSG stuff, or is it a complete FlOps install? I looked at the downloads page and saw 315+MB! Pretty large addon, I'd say.

the current version is stand alone it is a cus I'm not really sure abt all the stuff I changed. it is a full FO download:sweat:

I'm about to release the next version though, which is just a patch. the beta testing is done, and i just need to change a couple of things, then I will release it.

I am very close to a release, but I was hoping to get the AI finished before I do. Unfortunately I can not figure it out.


Is there anyone here with free time that can take a whack at writing a short AIP? It is for FO, so I don't know if there is any difference, except that it only requires the instantaction build list. Anyone willing to help?:help:

A Build List is not an AI. It merely tells the AI what order and how many of each to build everything in. It does not take a great deal of knowledge or experience to do at all. In fact, you can cut and paste one of the ones already in the game. Swap out the names on whichever one you pick for the names of whatever ships you want the Colonials to have. Yes it really is that easy. I have little knowledge of FO at all(Laptop not strong enough to play it) So I probably would be not much help at all. I do know A2 can be kind of picky about things like dropped commas and missing quote marks. Go slow. Take your time. Place just the minimums needed to see if you can get the AI to build one or two ships or stations wihout crashing the game. Once you get it to run one time without errors, then you can copy/paste the entries for the rest of the ships and stations.

Mechanical part done. Now onto the play balance part. You'd like a player facing off against your Colonials to be challenged and rewarded, not punished or handed a victory. It is surprisingly easy to accomplish either of these. You punish a player by making the AI build everything and lots of it as fast as it can as long as it can. You hand a player a victory by forgetting things like replenishing mining freighters and construction ships in numbers needed to replace losses. I am going to use a very ugly word here - Playtest! (gasp!) I am going to use another pair of very ugly words here - time consuming! (OMG! Make the pain stop!)

You've spent a great deal of time making BSG ships and stations just right to add into Fleet Ops. Now why do you want to rush the process to the point where these beautiful creations are disrespected by everyone who tries them on? Don't they deserve to be utilized by the AI with the same care and attention you gave to making sure you got Pegasus' flight deck coloration exactly correct? Take your time and do it the way you know it should be done. I know, I know. I get all impatient the closer I get to finishing something, too. But to get it to play for me the way it plays for you inside your head takes time. And mistakes. Mistakes do not ruin a mod at all. They merely point out things which should be done differently.

I suppose if you posted the build list you have already here as an attachment, people would look at it and offer advice. Probably far more than you wanted or need, lol. But remember, all it is, is advice. This is still your mod. So it should do the things you want it to do, not what someone else wants.

unfortunately the AI can only be cylons...unless you want them building both at once, but Multi-player matches are spectacular:shock:


The problem is that I wrote the file, but It just did nothing, even when I just tried to get it to build one thing.

I just think having pods build from the first station doesn't work when it comes to AI build lists.

I hope you're planing to post some pictures soon. I unfortunately can't help with AI, considering I've never done anything major with it, other than replace the names in the stock one to build what I want.

thanks! And yes, it is your music, though, I got some other music that I might end up using...I'm not sure yet, I really like yours, and I haven't listened to the new stuff.:angel:
