• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. Awesome work on the planes, the textures and models are really top-notch :thumbsup:

Steam made me think of you guys yesterday actually, it reminded me that something called IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover is out Tomorrow (31st). Never played any of them :lol:

DJ, I have Sturmovik as well and all the addons and expansions. You just ain't lived until you try the custom missions where you can get as ahistorical as you like. F-4U1A1s sweeping in over Abbeville at angels five and shouting 'Wakey, wakey!' over the radio is a blast! I have really enjoyed some of the winding matches I have gotten into online in a Jug or a Corsair! It is a great flight sim and I really like split essing right down the deck in my Razorback with a Bf109g centered in the gunsight and swelling until he fills the windscreen.

Sometimes I even manage to avoid auguring in after the kill, lol.

Yeah - that spin will get ya every time... No chance to counter it at low level either, and Im guessing zero/zero ejector seats were not fitted to the ol' Jug as standard... messy...

But... Ive had the game for 2 days now and am already getting the urge to mod...

I really really want some Late / post war / Korea planes - MiGs, Sabres, Meteors, Bearcats, all that Jazz... I love that era of aviation too - the pioneers of dog fighting with a jet... Before air to air missiles came along and spoiled it for everyone... Ant ideas TF??

Also - Cliffs of Dover is next on my hit list - it looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!:excited:

Thanks guys! It really motivates me that you all like what I'm doing here!

I have been out on business for the last couple of weeks, plus the Easter vacation has been spent up a mountain with no electricity / internet connection...

Anyways, this is the last thing I did before I left... It is also my new desktop, in preparation of IL - 2 Cliffs of Dover...

Hope y'all like?!??

Not been too active of late on the old modeling and such... However, I have found time to work on this;

Thanks guys - it means a lot that you are all still interested (I know that this is predominantly a Sci fi site, but to be honest Ive been drifting away more and more from Sci fi of late, I think it was the recent run of The Pacific here in Norway that started it all...)

And now that Ive bought IL2 - 1946 and Cliffs of Dover (CoD runs like a one legged dog... there is a fix patch coming soon, I hope) I really have a taste for classic aviation...

Before work and other such nonsense got in the way, I was in the process of readying a model and skin pack, in MS3D format, with .tga textures, to release to the community here, just as a sand box type thing...to convert, explore and generally play with to your heart's content... I am still working it all out, but how many of you would actually download these models, I wonder?

I'd download them Dino :)

Loving the aviation stuff; there is an elegance about the old propeller-driven aircraft that I find appealing :thumbsup:

Alrighty then!

I hereby announce the imminent release of;

DinosaurJR's Historic Flight Model Pack

Included, one will find;

The Focke-Wulk Fw 190 a-8 "Red 4"
The mask I used to create the texture and also the base texture, so you can learn to make your own units, if you so wish;)

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 e "Yellow Flight" 4 BF 109 skins, yellow 3,4,5 and 7.
the mask I used to make the texture, a standard texture with no unit markings and also a bonus Afrika Korps skin.

The Mitsubishi A6m Zero "Zeke" with three different camo variations, plus the mask and basic texture.

The Republic Aviation P47 d Thunderbolt Both the early block razorback version and the late bubble canopy version. Included is the mask for the texture, the basic texture, and two complete textures, one for Francis Stanley "Gabby" Gabreski, and another for Lieutenant Colonel Robert Samuel Johnson.

The North American Aviation P 51 d Mustang Only the late bubble canopy type, I'm afraid... but it comes with the texture mask, the basic texture and several colorful texture variations

The Grumman Aviation F4F-2 Wildcat With Operation Torch North African markings and also mid - late war Pacific markings (check the nose art - its a hoot!)

The Hawker Hurricane Mk1a and Mk2c / Mk2c trop.
The Mk1 comes n classic Battle of Britain colors, whilst the Mk2c comes with 1942 colors, and middle / far east variants. Again, with the base and mask files.

The Supermarine Spitfire, Mk 1a, Mk 1b, Mk vb, Mk vb LF and Mk ix. In various color schemes from the Middle East, RAF fighter command in the Battle of Britain, from the mid war cross - channel period, and from the middle east (Royal Australian Air Force)

I'm hoping to have this all packaged up and sorted out this week - then I can sent it to Majestic for uploading!!

I was looking at the work Jet has done with my P-51 model, and I admit - I was blown away. I was especially impressed with the pilot he added to teh picture - very good work!

So, needless to say I wanted to emulate this... but I cant really draw much better than a simple schematic or sketch... so I though "what would Mcgyver do?"

Then I realised that he probably wouldnt do anything... fighting crime is a 24/7 job, yo... and then I did this...

Yep, this is my little friend - Li'l Gunther as I affectionately call him...
picture.php

Here he is flying "Red 4", my FW - 190
picture.php

And finally here he is after mistaking me for a "rotten tommy" - probably my accent...
picture.php

Yep, my first attempt at this sort of thing, and although by no means perfect - he'll do...:thumbsup:

I dont see why not? I'll ask him if he's busy...:p

The modeling is rather crude, but I tried to keep the joints as simple as possible, so that posing him is a relatively easy task... The texture is a nasty, nasty affair too, but it looks alright once mapped... And I think his arms are a little off scale...

He is scaled to around 1.7m tall (1/6 of the wingspan of a P-51, give or take...)

I dont see why he shouldn't be unleashed along with the series of P-40s I am currently working on... Yes, there will be a flying tiger in there too...:thumbsup:

Sorry for the double post guys... I was just playing around and I though this was cool...

He was asking me where the door handle was... And also the controls, his seat...

Curious little fellow, don't make him ask too much questions. :lol2:

"What is that saucer thing with rockets over there?"
