From what you have all seen what are your favourite ship classes seen in Yesteryears? Canon or fan made.

Mine would have to be the Romulan Predator class (The Romulan D7 look alike), Federation Phobos class and Gorn Pazak Class (Gorn destroyer).

I added attachments to show you the classes myself. For reference I suggest downloading the mod manual available in the downloads section.

If unsure point us to a screenshot from the gallery and Syf or I will let you know the name and classification of the vessel in question. ;)

cool, thank you :)

One thing that has me curious - the yellow circles on the front view of the beloved pocket carrier (which looking at the other views appears to be recessed into the secondary hull)... what purpose do they serve? are they also hangar bay doors, or are they some kind of heavy disruptor cannon?

Deflector dishes, similar to the ones onboard Excelsior class vessels.

which is really obvious now when looking at it lol. I'm used to those being underneath lol.

Syf, that would have worked better had Majestic not beaten you to the punch lol :D

Yep... I was a bit slower. Still slow from this darn flu bug.

Don't star at those dishes too long... you might see sun spots afterwards.

lol, maybe.

In theory, you could rig them to make a decent 'double barreled' deflector pulse...
or going by the TNG deflector pulse from best of both worlds - it did a decent amount of damage, but pretty much ruined the deflector array and left them makin repairs for however long it was... having two means they could rig one for a crippling pulse of energy and then still have the other deflector working.

That would be cool, since presumably, for balancing, its weapons are going to be relatively weak (compared to other terran ships) and thus relying on fighters for defense, since its a pocket carrier. then if it was in serious trouble, pulse and run...

There are only a limited amount of special weponas for each side, I think 4-5 total and they are for certain ship classes only.

Also there are no fighters in YY due to the fact the A2 engine can't do a decent job at it, it was never designed for them.

The Assault Cruisers, will have weaponry designed to weaken shields and I am considering having it that they have the long range torpedoes like the Steamrunner from stock. Haven't decided on that yet, but if they do it will be a special weapon and not a standard one like stock.

ahh i see. so the Antonio class is the assault cruiser for the Terrans?

Makes sense, and gives a use for a pocket carrier in a game without a true fighter support engine

She is, when we were looking for one, I went through the old Federations files I had gathered from my time working with Syf and decided she fit in well with the role she was required to do.

The Ulyssus class would be my favorite.
It looks like combination of the constitution class and the excelsior class, two of my favorite ships.

Call me a sentimentalist but the Constitution Refit will always be my favorite Trek ship; she is a beauty.

I'm going to say that the Mod Manual is out of date.. Only shows three races, and the Federation only have eight ships. I find this hard to believe...

Regardless, non-canonly, I like the Sparrowhawk for the Romulans, the D5 for the Klingons, and the Okinawa for the Federation.

We know it is out of date, but it takes a considerable amount of time to do and thus we haven't had much of a chance to work on an update, there will eventually be an update most likely it will be the manual for the actual mod.

As for ships each race only has 7 ships (combat) and 5 ships (non combat). There are a few map units that are available in the campaign but they aren't and won't be included in any future mod manual releases as we want to keep many of them as surprises.

Isn't 7 Combat Ships a little..... limited? Obviously this is your project, but stock A2 has between 10 and 12 ships per race, and most mods have over 12.

Most mods have too many ships for the same purpose, we have a limited amount as we want each ship to have a use that can't be replaced by another ship.

Each hull classification has it's strengths and weaknesses, so you can't replace say a destroyer with a heavy cruiser, as a heavy cruiser won't fair as well in the missions that a destroyer is designed for.

There are of course several map units that will appear in the campaign but 7 combat ships is all that is buildable and playable in multiplayer.

Pretty much, we want to have each ship have a purpose, not just build the ship design you like the most like stock and may mods attempt to do.

We have 7 classifications.

Frigate
Destroyer
Light Cruiser
Assault Cruiser
Heavy Cruiser
Dreadnaught
Battleship

I think that is plenty for any mod, it covers all the classes seen in stock, while really having no class really capable of replacing any other. If anyone does have questions feel free to ask and I will try to answer them for you.
