• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. Wow TUN. The detail of those textures and the models themselves are nothing less than excellent!

Fantastic and top quality work there mate, the re-do is more than worth it.

That's awesome! How do you get the impact effects to spread out across the enemy ship? I know the explosions are easy to create, but usually they all hit the same spot.

Hello:
That is a great improvement from the original look, I can imagine how much have you been playing around with textures and effects to get a new look that you like.

Keep up the great work!

In the flak explosion's SOD I have the joints that the sprites are attached to spread out rather then centered so it looks like there's small explosions all over and around the target ship that's hit.

Well, that answers that. That is exactly what I wanted to do to create a flak field around my battlestars. When I get back to BSG I will definitly ask for your help in this. I will be using a target area weapon in which I can tell specific sections of batteries to fire on an area which will deal AOE damage to fighters and take out missiles that fly in its vicinity.:D Each weapon will make a small flack field proportional to the numbers of guns controlled. I am glad someone got the visual effect to work already though. As I said before, great work!

Not much of an update, but I decided to redesign Matriarch Kydora and make her look more regal:

Hello:
Those are really nice models, amazing the detail and dedication you must have given to make them.

I am curious though: how many polies, in average, do you use for character making?

Keep it up!.

A new trailer, hopefully to lure in some of the multiplayer crowd that hovers around Fleet Ops:

@Chiletrek
On average the characters are around 25,000 polys (Kydora for instance is 24,071).

Indeed great work, top quality stuff. While I can't see why people wouldn't want to give Sigma a go, I've found many FO players, the real hardcore ones are a little stuck in their ways and not to willing to give anything new or different a serious go. Despite all that being said I do think you'll get some new players through that trailer though it was awesome.

Indeed. I've heard a lot of "Why should I play mods, FO is best game ever!" Some people just don't like to try new things. Meh.

Yeah there are a great many there willing to give mods a shot, but there are unfortunately a great many more who are what us A2 gamers would call fan-boys who won't try anything unless it has DocaCola's, Optec's and the rest of the FO Dev team names on it.

Thankfully the Dev team have showed their support for mods by introducing the mod feature, one of the best if not the best additions to FO since the Warp-in and avatar system.

This. Just one of the things that makes me want to move over to FO every now and then.

I debated the move for like 12 months before I actually did move. I've never looked back. :)

Great work, the Zevestivan look much better now. Also the 6th race base looks sweet, very cool looking, like ice. I really like that!

Hello:
Those are very interesting-looking ships, the rebuild of the Zevestivans seems to be a very worthy extra job for your mod :) .

And those renders for your 6th races are great! .

Keep it up!

I love the stained glass things on the Zev units, that's what that is, right?
