I am very interested to see what you can come up with for Centauri designs. When we worked on the mod we used the B5 Wars race source books to fill out the fleets for races that had little variety on the show. Everything from the Bin'Tak Dreadnought for the Narns to the Centurion Class for the Centauri to the Earth Alliance's Artemis Frigate and Poseidon Fleet Carrier. If you can find photos of those books, you may get some ideas for new B5 designs.
B5 is probably my favorite sci-fi tv series of all time. I wouldn't mind new adventures in the universe, especially bringing a familiar face or two like Cpt. Ivanova or President Sheridan, every now and again, if not something beyond their generation to the next one, like a TNG version of B5.
What I would like the most is an actual ending to Crusade, with its original cast. Like a 4 hour miniseries. What little of Crusade was developed, I loved as much as the flagship series, and they deserve their due in showing the end of the Dra'kh war and finding a cure to the plague.
As to seeing a fully restored B5 series on Blu, that would be a dream come true but it will never happen. As I have read on the subject, the main issue revolves around the CGI and composite shots (CGI + live action) having being created in 4x9 format for standard tvs. Only the complete live action shots filmed in Super 35 film can be rescanned and polished for HD formatting.
In order to have the CGI scenes (Space scenes) and composite shots (people in front of blue screens) expanded to HD would need to be recreated from scratch. Unlike ST the original series or TNG, which were re-mastered with brand new cgi, B5 does not have the fandom ST does and would not be seen as a worthy financial investment in recreating those scenes.
More elaborate post on the issue with a B5 blu ray for those interested: http://b5books.com/2017/05/02/babylon-5-blu-ray-will-probably-never-happen/
Sorry to hijack your thread on this subject RJB. Love your designs.
