The textures are all Jetfreak (so go pester him now :lol2:).
So far as I am concerned, unless Jetfreak has any requests the mesh is built and mapped. Final count is 4518 plygons, which is a little on the high side for my taste but way better than the 25k mesh Jetfreak provided for reference.

Indeed, variants are also in the cards too. :)

Progress is looking fly, I'm passing the baton back to kjc for the final release prep.

And now for something completely different!
This is proving to be a very interesting build. Initially I looked at it and wondered how on Earth I was going to do it, but then I realised it's mostly symmetrical and made up of blocks. This is almost a lego ship! The only truely complex part is the nose of the ship.
My plan for this one is to release three variants. A standard MCRN Corvette class frigate, the Roci in her grey scheme, and the refit Roci with landing gear and railgun.
I'll let someone else figure out how to do the physics for it :lol2:

Oh wow kjc, that is awesome, I can't wait to see ships from the Expanse; and there's no better starting point than the Roci.

This will be interesting. I have never seen the show, but I really like the ship designs I've seen from it thus far. Good luck with the build, KJC! :)

Terra you are missing out. I've only seen two seasons but I have read the eight novels (and eagerly awaiting the last one) and I would argue it's the most epic scifi since Babylon 5.
Anyway, nose installed so she's a bit more recognisable. Just the PDC mounts and a few other physical details and then it'll be time to uv map o_O

Hey kjc you were wondering about the physics for the Roci. Wouldn't the Cardassian drone weapon from armada 2 work. The first time I tried to make fighters work I use the drone weapon as a templete. It didnt have the star trek feel i was looking for but it might be just right for the Roci, or at least a good place to start.

That's an interesting idea. It's been a while since I've actually dug around in A2, do you know the name of the drone physics files?

The weapon is on the ccruise1

// Drones
weapon4 = "gdrones"

I took a look at "gdrones" to look for a physic file and I couldn't find one.
It uses classLabel = "drones_weapon"
Which i think is hard coded so this may not work like i thought it would. Maybe someone with more programing savvy can think of a work around. You might look in the "Big Book of Modding" you might find something in there. I would but my new computer does not want to open it for some reason. Sorry if i wasted your time.

Not a waste, it's amazing what one can do with even the hard coded stuff if one pushes hard enough (like my old BSG flak guns :D ). I think the drones may also be the basis of one of the missile mods out there.

Anyway, main mesh is built. I'm going to uv map and optimise what I've got before moving on to the variants.

EDIT - If you are still looking for fighter physics, I suggest looking up Thunderfoots old A2PP physics project. It's what I use in most of my releases.

Thanks. I think that is the physics file I'm using :D I just wish I could get my fights (in my stock A2 mod) to circle their carrier like FO! :cry2:

Hmm, we used to have a PDF version of the BBOM in our resource section. Looks like it's no longer there, though. I'll look into uploading a new one.

Let's see how it goes ;) I'm using this to procrastinate on another project (which after several months I still have no idea how to approach).
I have enough information that I can likely do the Morrigan, the Donnager and probably the Scirocco.
Aside from the Truman I'm struggling to find reference material on any UNN ship.

The UNN ships are pretty scarce in the show which I find surprising considering their one of the major powers in the show.

I much prefer the MCRN designs myself. If you do, decided to do more it'll be pretty cool to see them. :)

I am in agreement over the MCRN designs, I'm partial to the Morrigan myself (probabaly what I will do next).
The Amun-Ra is also an interesting design (and one I could probably also build even if it will be horrible to do) but I'm not a fan of the wildly asymmetrical shape.

More UV mapping, and after starting work on the base textures I realised I couldn't do any shortcuts, it all has to be mapped properly otherwise the tiles get distorted. But it's moving fast because it's mostly flat surfaces. The only difficulty is going to the main exhaust.

I hate UV mapping, the worst part of modeling Imo. It's coming along great mate. :)

Thank you. I've finished mapping the basic Tachi :) so I can now finish the Tachi textures.
I've started work on the Rocinante physical upgrades, hopefully the differences won't be difficult to map.
Then it'll *just* be a case of creating the alternate textures.
