Paul McGann to star in a new audio series as the Eighth Doctor from Big Finish which would be broadcast on BBC7 and starts from December 31. The Eighth Doctor will have a new companion Lucie Miller played by Sheridan Smith. If you are unable to get access to BBC7 online, all eight episodes of the series will be released on CD later on.:

"A new series of adventures, featuring the Eighth Doctor and new companion Lucie, are to be broadcast weekly on BBC7 from New Year's Eve. Each episode, along with interviews and features, will also be released monthly on single CD from January beginning with Blood of the Daleks - Part 1, by Steve Lyons.

Paul McGann stars as the Doctor in all eight episodes of this new mini-series and is joined by Sheridan Smith who plays new companion, Lucie Miller from Blackpool. Sheridan will be familiar to British TV audiences and has starred in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crips, Grownups and Holby City amongst others. Lucie is a strong willed Northern lass who, initially at least, is an unwilling traveller aboard the TARDIS having been placed there as part of a Time Lord witness protection programme. But what has she witnessed? Even she doesn't seem to know."

The first of the BBC7 radio adventures Blood of the Daleks Part 1 is now available at:
www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/sunday/

It is available until this weekend before BBC7 broadcast the next episode.

Blood of the Daleks Part 1:
I was baffled at the beginning as I was thinking did I missed the beginning only for it to be easily explained. I don't really like Lucie whether that will change in the upcoming episodes we just have to wait and see. Nothing really wrong with the plot it just that it did not seem exciting until the cliffhanger.

Following on from Blood of the Daleks Part 1 is Beyond The Vortex which is basically the BBC7 version of Doctor Who Confidential.

The Blood of The Daleks Part 2:
Definitely better than the previous episode as I like the way on how the story got resolved. Despite what I said before, I think I am beginning to warm up to Lucie and I like how the mystery deepens with the introduction of the Headhunter.

Horror of Glam Rock:
As pointed out in the tie in documentary Beyond The Vortex that came afterwards the title is a take on the Tom Baker serial Horror of Fang Rock. Other than that there is no plot connection between the two stories.
Very enjoyable story here and quite surprise by the arrangement of the theme in this episode.

Immortal Beloved:
A good beginning, a good ending but not quite sure about the bits in-between. Nice that Ian McNeice finally does a Who and Jake McGann, Paul's son also did well.

Phobos:
Slightly better than Immortal Beloved.
The part I like best was towards the end when the Doctor dealt with the monster and it was quite funny when the Headhunter turned up.

No More Lies:
Nigel Havers finally does a Who and he gives out a very good performance even though the story is a little confusing and Julia McKenzie has a very beautiful singing voice. Also it is nice to have Tom Chadbon back on Who again. Also interesting this had elements of the current TV series with mention of Time Agent and the monsters here are not unlike that of The Reapers.

Wow what a stunning end when the Headhunter turns up.

Human Resources Part 1:
Wow what a beginning of the story that will end the BBC7 series. Definitely much better than the two parter that began the series Blood of the Daleks.

Even though I already knew what would be the monsters in this story it was still amazing when they finally turned up.

Human Resources Part 2:
A very good end to the BBC7 series. Not quite sure though about leaving the Headhunter and Karen openended. In the corresponding Beyond The Vortex programme question was raised about whether there would be further adventures of the Eighth Doctor and Lucie. Well it would good to hear more of Lucie's travels with the Doctor in future.
