Yes, the Tiger is a well renown fan design. Back from the 90's/80's.

You did well on it. It's part of my reference folder haha.

Oh yeah! That is why I had to build it, because I agree a battlestar is a jack of all trades, so dedicated ships need to exist too.

I am honoured :excited:

Hello:
Yeah exactly, no fleet can rely on a single design for everything.
Indeed! However I still think many people misunderstands that, since ships like the Galactica just happened to have all those features, but was never meant to go alone, that is why every battle had to be planned carefully when possible.
Got a few of your BSG images in there.

Yes it's what I hate about so many sci-fi having only one or two designs it's so unrealistic. Even in futuristic space a jack of all trades will never be as efficient as a small fleet of specialized ships working together.

I can totally understand you! For instance, in Stargate canon's case we can forgive the Tau'ri as they are very nascent as a power, and don't have the manpower for a varied fleet yet. I cannot defend the other factions though, the Ori just had 1 capital ship!

The best case I know about would be Macross ands Robotech. The Zentraedi had a varied fleet: a scout, destroyer, cruiser, gun destroyer, a dedicated big carrier that can take a pounding and a huge battleship. The Robotech Expeditionari Force is similar, varied ships with distinct roles and one cruiser that can go in any sort of mission (The Shimakaze class). Of course the REF has 2 SDFs (so akin to Battlestars, but beefier), but they were always shown as part of a fleet as a command battleship with heavy support abilities.

Yeah the expanse at least have several designs in the Mars fleet too. I can understand production costs but honestly if you're going to fund a sci-fi project do it correctly.

I can see your point, the problem is most sci-fi producers got the idea it has to be a single ship: The Enterprise, the Galactica, .... etc, as more ships mean likely having to hire more people as crewmembers for the extra ships or to pay cgi artists extra hours. I mean, the artist that modelled the copy+paste Inquiry class had only like some days to make the ship.

Yup certainly unrealistic expectations on the producers part. Like always the higher ups have no idea.

My version of a Republic Carrack frigate based on fractalsponge.net/ Carrack.

Ship-Republic-Carrack.png

This is how I feel it would’ve appeared in the Clone Wars having been absorbed into the Grand Army of the Republic from the Judicial services. The show really should’ve had these in large numbers escorting Venator's and Accamator’s into fights. One of many reasons I say TCW is an incomplete series.

I scaled it to the 350m frigate that it is, rather than making it look the size of the 150 meter CR90 than many fans do. It's meant to be similar in size to the Nebulon-B.

Being a frigate it has a proton torpedo launcher, various weapon batteries and 2 large quad batteries as seen on the larger Arquitens light cruiser.

I also gave it a hangar bay large enough only for a troop transport and a shuttle as in it's initial design and planning it was to form the backbone of the Judicial services. Hence the requirement to occasional needing to deploy a security force to stations, planets and the occasional boarding actions on pirate ships.

In my head canon ships like the Quasar and Dreadnaught worked as the carriers of the old Judicial services before the outset of the clone wars.

This is my contribute to May the 4th weekend.

Model can be purchased here for your projects: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/republic-carrack-872275f008434b70a0cf395aa1dc467b

Youtubers, if used in your video credits are required at the end of the video, not just in the description. That includes if it's in someone else's render. Credit is all I ask.

It's a design that could also fit within the BSGverse as a support craft, nice work with the red stripes man, can't have enough Republic ships!

Thanks mate, yeah I agree. I plan to make a bit of a fleet on them eventually. Give the CW era Republic some teeth.

Indeed! I can even see how the Dreadnaught heavy cruiser (the original design more than Fractalsponge's version) can be seen as a flightpodless battlestar.

That's a common comment from many people and why some don't like the design.

Thanks. Probably be another fighter that will come.

That is a shame, because to me that was it's selling point :D .

I can't tell you how many times I have been temped to make a Dreadnaught with flight pods  .
Thanks. Probably be another fighter that will come.
Keep it up!

Hello:

I might start on it today, but check my thread, there is a ship you'd like to see aswell :D
Nice, will be funny to see people's reactions to that lol.
Both, at the same time :lol2: . Or any that you can give an answer to.
Hahahaha.

For commissions well lets see there is a DSC season 1 ships I am turning into a TMP era vessel, just waiting to hear back from Alex on how he wants me to proceed. Plus there is a Lower decks ship I am doing. Not a fan on TNG ships. But he asked and I am undertaking it.

Then after which I will be making some Star Wars Republic fighters, some not seen in the Clone Wars, one that did but is being modified for my own tastes and an update on a low poly one again I might make changes to suit my tastes. My D-wing is lonely, hahaha. Then I want to do my own AU freighters that will represent Mara Jade's Jade Fire, Jade Sabre and Jade Shadow plus Jade Leaf from a fan fiction I read. I just wanted to do something for my favourite character and do some freights including some unique designs.

With the last part you've picked-up my interest, because I'd like to make some specific post-TNG ships and I still don't feel confident about how to make saucer textures.

That sounds fair! Always good to put our own bits and twists :) .

Yeah not looking forward to it. But I'll get it done. Wanted to do it for him as he's been a great client.

Yeah she had several ships, a Z-95, then a Luxury yacht, then a shuttle then another yacht. Though in my AU, they'll be freighters as at least with the first one she used it as such being a smuggler before becoming a dedicated Jedi Knight.

Dang! But I can understand. I have been taking a look at some of Aad Moerman's ships. To have an idea.

Thanks for the info! It will be very good to see your interpretations!

Might I suggest you take a look at the Bridge Commander Federation ships on Gamefront? Many of the BC ships are basically Hero-ship level quality. Outside of some minor mirroring of the textures, they are useable as in A2. Even if you don't want to use them in A2, BC models are Jetfreak's bread and Butter (and WE ALL know how good his renders are). Learn how to make BC models and you got some high-quality Starfleet Starships.
