I like your idea of a BSG rewrite. Liked the originals plot line and characters. The new one not so much. After the first few episodes I was rooting for the Cylons!

Hahaha, I never liked the idea of organic Cylon's and them worshiping a god. Nor did I like them being created by the humans. I did prefer the TOS theme more and honestly a remake on similar concepts would've been awesome. This is basically my AU, introducing a few TNS ideas I liked, mainly ship designs inspired by it like the Artemis etc, the logo etc and going the TOS route so I can fit them into the Star Wars universe.

Hello:

That is true! As I have notived the more a civilization advances the more chance they will keep using older designs if they have been proven reliable. Battlestars certainly are extremely reliable.

I rooted for the Cylons since TOS :iamtoast:

Exactly and Battlestars would be a huge investment so if they can refit them and keep them in service why wouldn't they. Hence why the Galactica a 100 year old ship in my AU is still in service. She may be the last of her kind but she isn't being decommissioned. Things like Vipers and even some support ships I could see decommissioned but not Battlestars. IN fact the two most powerful Battlestar designs (minus the Titan) are older designs. The Galactica type and the type that I am making the Pegasus belong to.

And I honestly thought the ideas I had for a TNS BSG fanfic were heresy :D . But with a double-genocide by Cavil's organic Cylons, by fleet would end-up outgrowing the butthurt humanity of the series and reach an understanding with the old-style pure-mechanical Cylons. It was a long story, but at least I have new models for the hero ships of the story, one of them I already posted here.

I remember Andorians once said "Why do humans always change ships? Why don't they stick iwth a design?"... or something like that :D . We've seen factions using ship designs for centuries or even millenia, like the Zentraedi. So if something works, why not use it properly?

I look forward to see them! I can make myself the idea for the Galactica, but not for the Pegasus yet! For my idea I wanted to use the Warstar Helios design.

Hahahaha. Interesting, Cylon's reign supreme.

That's it. Even Star Trek is going back to Constitution and Excelsiors in Picard and Lower decks.

Indeed! I could show you my hero Cylon ship, but I don't want to hijack your topic

You are right! Although I can only attest it because of Picard. But, to be honest, when I first watched the trailer of Picard season 3 and saw the main ship I went like "What the frak!". Now I only feel "meh" about it, so it is improving :lol2:

Klingons are the same as well.. using D-6/D-7/Ktingas for almost 150 years.. and then BOPs for 100 years as well..

At least for me, the main reason to be upset with the weird Neo-Connie is that they just introduced the sexy new Stargazer in season 2... which was promptly forgotten about in season 3. :(

Yeah taking a fan TMP design and turning it into a new 25th century ship. I am not a fan either.

The best known example in Star Trek for sure.

Agreed, not much a fan of the Picard era ships they feel rather lazy when compared to so many awesome fan designs from modding groups and high quality renders.

I know right? The Stargazer was an awesome design! Even the lazy Xyston... I mean copy+paste class... I mean Inquiry class looks quite good in it's more finalized version seen in STO.
It's okay I am keen to see it. :)
I might actually take your word for it. It is based on the Guardian Basestar, but the arms are angled differently and are more symetric.
Yeah taking a fan TMP design and turning it into a new 25th century ship. I am not a fan either.
Very anachronistic, like what Discovery did in season1... but the other way around. It's like if we can alter reality I would have added Disco ships in Picard and they would have felt at home.
The best known example in Star Trek for sure.
I agree!

Because they tried new designs in season2. The Stargazer was very new and the Inquiry was indeed Nova class-related, so at least keeping up with the Post-Wolf359 style.

Nice, I haven't tacked the Cylons other than their support ships and fighters.

I do know I want them to follow the TOS designs and not have much if any TNS styling. Though I am sure something like the Guardian basestar might make an appearance.

And I am the opposite, have mostly made many of their larger ships  . I did make a Raider too though :plan:
(Sorry for the typo, I corrected it).

Maybe you can try to TOS-ify the Guardian Basestar, I am sure you'd be able to make the same with other ships too.

Yes I do plan to TOS a lot of the Deadlock ships both Colonial and Cylon.

That would be a great idea! One ship I'd like to try is a TOS-ified version of the Berzerk that AtolmAzel made some time ago.

You mean this design? I might do it but honestly the Minotaur is very similar in appearance.

I'm planning the Ranger and Minotaur and several of the Cylon designs.

Yup! That's the one. I am not sure if I'll build it, but I must say it clicked the right buttons on me :D .

Have fun! :excited: .

For my own TOS fleet, I am really thinking about the Helios:

Never was a fan of the 4 flight pod design, I'm sure you'll do the design justice.

Hmm, that's certainly an interesting design. Quite a chonk. Will be cool to see this one modeled in 3D.

Ooh, looking forward to those, then. I like all the different variations of Colonial ship design. As for the Cylons, I don't think I've seen ship designs other than the old and new base stars.

Yeah they'll be my interpretations for a more TOS inspired versions. Much like the Artemis I did faithful but also unique in their own way. I'm trying not to make too many Colonial designs that are similar in design but can be hard to be honest. Considering the design lineage of the Colonial ship designs.

Cylons will be equally as hard when it comes to their Basestars and Capital ships though most of their smaller ships I have already sorted out in my mind. I haven't been focusing on them atm. I have also 3 Star Wars factions to also deal with haha. Plus the whole concept/history etc of them that I have started. Been a bit down on the energy concentration levels the past week with Easter and such so I haven't been modelling anything.

I did do this yesterday as something to put my mind on. An evolution to the past logo I did incorporating the BSG theme as well as Star Wars.

It is as much of an heresy as a 4-nacelled Starfleet ship .... ohh, whoops :D . In reality I know what you mean, but somehow this design managed to catch my since the days of the defunct "Battlestar Armada" mod decades ago.

Someday, I am sure it will be very interesting! I am just debating if to use Battlestar parts or go yolo and build it all from scratch.

Atolm has made some designs, and then there are those from games. But it is true Cylons get sooooo few new stuff compared to Colonials, who always get the most toys... but still lost :lol2:

Go Yolo. That way you can make changed to make it more unique.

Hahaha. Yeah I have most of my fleet sorted out for the Cylons on paper. TOS Cylons are a lot easier than TNS Cylons.

Hello:
I'll go yolo when the time comes, as I have other ships in my special yolo-list too. :ori3:

What I like the most is how the TOS Cylons and TNS Cylons have very distinctive feels but still been easy to recognize as Cylon. Unlike how Colonials always kind of follow similar shapes.

Taking about, TNS basestars all I have to say is:
Cylon Basestars are made of meat that's why the Battlestars chew them up then. :lol2:

In all seriousness, I have my whole fleet sorted for the most part for the TOS Cylons. Just got to build them. Some take inspiration from other concepts etc.

I will swim to Australia and beat you! :lol2: . But really, while the TNS Baseship is my fav ship from that series, my Cylonsona commands a modernized Guardian Basestar-style ship :plan: .

It is always a great first step to have the needed references, without those we cannot even really get to start and have decent results.

That's pretty cool. I do like some of the Deadlock basestar designs like:

It feel's TOS enough and still cool and powerful feeling.

Exactly. I have a huge folder of references for various franchises, Babylon 5, Trek, Star Wars, BSG you name it.

Gladly that is the only Basestar from Deadlock I didn't make and don't have plans to make, because I beefied-up the canon one (I posted renders a while ago).

Indeed! Specially the powerful part :)

Yeah. It's an impressive ship. I could imagine it being in the TOS as a sort of siege basestar where a more powerful megapulsar siege gun is housed in the arms.

What about Farscape? :lol2:

I have a few not too many, same with Stargate and such.

That looks very promising! And that would be a good use of the TNS-style arms.

I remember there was a Cylon fan-ship to attack worlds, I always imagined it turning like the Borg colony ship.

I can understand. Back in the day the only Farscape official diagram ever released was one of Talyn, and that was because of an special event.

Yeah Atolm has been doing so cool concepts on Farscape Peacekeepers.
