Maybe I can start remaking some Trek models... I re-found the diagram of the Ares class from Axanar... maybe something can come-out from that.

To make textures for the Saucer section is the hardest part though, hehehe, I hope I can replicate the experiment I made for the other Axanar-era Starfleet ships.

I can download some of the things I have released over the years. But I do have way too much stuff I was never able to release in time.

in any case, as I have learned from experience, anything you build now will be better :D

Hello:
After so long, I was finally able to complete a model, this is my new model of the Species 8472 bioship from "Star Trek: Voyager". I hope you'll all like it! More renders will be posted soon in my DeviantArt gallery.

Now, there is a little bit of a problem: Eaglemoss (who has the full licence and official info) says this bioship is 50 meters in lenght, in contrast with the 200 meters lenght we used to use. Any suggestions how to deal with scaling for inagme purposes?

I would use what you been using Chile "If it not broke do not fix it" in game scaling is more for ease of end user use then official cannon compliance

By the way Grate job on the Bio ship

Hello:
And to think there was another size calculated using this scene ->
Bioship scorpion1162.jpg
And the result was 110 meters lenght. But I think I should just stay with a scaling of 200 meters as I had before (with all other bioships scaled accordingly), right?.

Hello:
This is a preview pic of my new model of the Species 8472 bioship that is used as an Energy Focusing Beam, you know, the stock 8472 Frigate.

Seen at the end of the episode "Scorpion Part 1", it can gather the energy of up to 8 cruisers to fire a beam of immense power, capable of destroying an entire planet.

Those are some very nice builds Chiletrek, you should be very proud. I'd be interested to know the poly count. From careful examination I suspect that they aren't as high as one might suspect, in which case it is some very, very nice work.
One suggestion, the textures are very nice, but its very clean and crisp. It's an organic ship from fluid space, I'd suggest dirtying them up a little, maybe some mottling. If you look at your own skin you'll see all sorts of imperfections (if you don't then go find a modeling agency and sign up!)

Hello:
Amazing work mate :)
Thank you very much! I now need to work in all other bioships! ... I am thinking I might give the destroyer and scout a separate texture file with some details changed.

Thank you kindly!. As you once told me, organic shapes tend to go high in polygons O_O ... the Cruiser has 3670 polygons and the Support Cruiser has 4828 polygons... but I really want them to look much better than my first models.
Well, these pics I have posted (and that I'll keep posting for 8472 are still previews, so I'll see if I can do something about your suggestion :) .

About what I suspected. Remember that my "low poly" Intrepid has 4600, you have made excellent use of the polygons on this design

Thank you! And it seems it should be alright as long as we don't go over 5000 polygonsfor mass-buildable capital ships.

And here is the preview pic of the Species 8472 destroyer :) .

Thank you kindly :excited:. Now I am working on the Scout, I never really liked the stock version of it, so I am looking for ways to make it better.

Hello:
Now is the turn for the Scout! That bioship is 3/5 the lenght of the Cruiser and, as expected, is swift and can detect cloaked ships, but is not well-suited for combat due to light hull.

The most difficult task now is that I want to redesign the Collector and Transmuter (or at least the Collector).

Have you thought about changing the colour of it's hull to help make it look even more different from the cruiser? Being organic by nature I would assume they wouldn't all be the same colour.

Hello:
I understand what you say but, as I am also getting inspiration fro the likely-same sources as the A2 developers did (colonies of eusocial insects), I think the main colours should be the same. But I understand what you say, so I might release texture with alternate colours... for that reason I have each type to have it's own texture :D .

Doesn't have to be huge changes if you don't want just some subtle changes could work. Throw a little red or orange in just to mix it up slightly but still have yellow as the main hull colour.

Hello:
That is a good option as I have already made subtle changes but those might not be enough to set them way apart yet (I pressume, but the larger Cruiser and Support Cruiser have more hull details). What would you suggest me to try? More bits of the darker brown perhaps?

Great looking ships Chile.

I currently use all of your Species 8472 replacements ingame and these are looking amazing. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
