• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

[WIP] Chiletrek's back into modding? o_O

Hello:
@Archonon: Ohh? Do you speak spanish? Yay finally someone else who does :excited:, but I guess we both know it is best to keep chatting in nglish here for obvious reasons... although that means we can chat in spanish using the Conversations feature .

@Epytron_Omega: Thank you, not many take a look at my Gundam stuff :D .

Haha, sounds good Chile, anytime.

I am not as familiar with Gundams as many here, I left anime behind in the late 90s. The closest to Gundams I saw was Mazinger Z and Voltron. (Which I know are nothing like Gundams Lol).

Are you going to design the Valkyries for your Robotech associated minimod? I mean they're basically space F-14s lol. Good stuff my friend.

Hello:
Some of my favorite work that you have done is your Gundam stuff. But you know that already. :D

Yeah, I know that :) ... specially because (some months ago) I've got a neat dorsal view of the Blanc Rival and some views of the Gray Phantom :D .

Yeah, I did make the Valkyries for the Macross mod (specially the VF-11) and the Alpha and Beta fighters for the Robotech mod :) .

Hello:
Real-life has certainly kept me busier than usual! Maybe this weekend things will get much better  .

Anyways, for all Axanar fans (and non-fans) out there, here is my representation of the Klingon D-6 class Light Battlecruiser. It was re-classified after the introduction of the D-7.

(we need a Klingon emoticon  ).

She's gorgeous Chile. Are you going to make an A2 model or just a high poly version for beauty shots?

Hello:
Thank you very much! :D . This ship has 2425 polygons, so I think it can be used in A2 ;) .

It can with FO mate
Hello:
Well, it can still work in A2 if we don't spam ships (I try to stick with MaP's poly-count suggestions he gave me time ago) but, as a matter of fact, whenever I am able to make a mod I'd do it for either FleetOps or for Apoclaydon's Classic A2 mod (so normal Armada2 but with all FleetOps' goodies) :) .

What with the engine improvements and how easy it is to convert an A2 mod to a FO modpack dependent on A2 Classic, there's really no reason not to do everything in FO.

Hello:
That's right! Because I have been able to play with many ships of similar poly-counts in normal A2 and newer pcs and I had nice matches. But I was thinking that, since FleetOps had an even better engine improvements, then why not use that? But using A2Classic to have all the ambience for normal A2 but with fancier models :D .

That's great news Chile! My A2 is so modded that I can't use FO, I have to pick models out from mods and integrate them one at a time. I'd love to see that beast terrify the Federation! :D

I don't want to hijack your thread Chile, as your models deserve all the spotlight.

I just quickly wanted to respond to Maj. I don't nearly understand FO odfs well and I'm not sure if there are other changes I would need to make. My A2 is a heavily modded build from scratch with custom races including Star Trek, Star Wars, B5 and more. I guess I should read some FO tutorials then huh Maj? :lol2:

Anyway, back to Chile. Are you building custom ships at random or are you thinking of building some races? For example, are you looking to build more than just the D-6 for the Klingons or are you gonna build more Klingon ships? If you are making more race specific ships, are you making them all from the same era or randomly? Like one day you made a D-6 and the next day you designed a replacement for the Negh'Var.

I plan to start doing that someday too :D . Too bad real-lifr has gotten too busy as of lately ... but it'll get better during November.

Thank you for the comments! :) . I'll be building some races, in the case of Star Trek, I plan of making a custom timeline during a time equivalent to Axanar/TOS time... so not so randomly :plan:.

Design randomly... that my job LOL

That's so true! :lol2:

Really, just unzip the attached file to the mod directory (assuming you have STA2 Classic installed) and copy your modded files into the new 'base module' folder. Rename the folder and edit the info.ini file to give it a name and you're done! It's set up to chain the Classic Mod as a parent so you don't need to worry about the core files or anything. It's a straight copy-paste of your modded files. And any files you think may be modded but aren't certain about.

Sounds good Chile, I look forward to seeing what races you are coming up with. Despite being inaccurate to TOS canon, I am a huge fan of the Axanar fan film and their concept of the 4 Years War; much more than the newly canonized "STD Klingon War".

LOL@Hellkite, but you do it so well it looks more like method than madness right?

Thanks for the explanation CABAL, I will check it out. The odfs in FO seem to have different information than vanilla A2 (Which is what I use) so I'll have a look at any other tutorials I can find.

They threw in a bunch of new commands, but they're optional. STA2 Classic also handles all the configuration things that need to be done to restore stock A2 functionality. When I converted the B5 A2 mod to a FO mod module, I really did just take the original, create an info.ini file, and drop the whole thing into the mods folder.

Why not you?

And do you know where I might start looking?

@Aad Moerman ships are far better than stock ships which the ship from the link above looks like it was made from.

As for why Chiletrek doesn't want to work on it, recently he has lost all his models and has to start from scratch and so has way too much work ahead of him rebuilding everything he has lost.

Plus modelling etc does take a lot of time and work.

Majestic explained the reasons. And here in MSFC is always a good place to start looking.
