• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Is there an easy way to remove the blinkers from a ship/station model like the Borg or is it more involved and would mess up the model/texture if it could even be done? Or is it done in the sprite file?

Hello:
The best way would either make a blank texture, although that will elimitate all blinking lights, and the alternative would be to eliminate them on the model themselves, but each model individually and the importer only works for stock models.

I can edit non-stock models so I'm ok there. This is Aad's Borg ships/stations. In the pic below do I delete the h_lights or the various s_red or s_greenstrobes? Do I highlight the words and delete and save or use the "clear" button there?

Cool! Well, you can erase the h_lights but that is one of the main joints, so I would recommend you erase the several s_red..... etc strobes. So you double click each name in the box and press supr.

So, I deleted all the strobe entries in the joints and exported the model to Armada II SOD then when I load the model in the map editor the ship is invisible? What causes that to happen?

Ok, that is mega-weird, are you sure you only erased the strobes?

Yeah. I highlighted each strobe line and hit the delete button until they were all deleted. Then exported. Was it a thing where you have to save to .ms3d first then export to .sod? Maybe I'm remembering something incorrectly?

Well, unless you misclicked something there is no way you should have that error, unless perhaps you exported as A1 sod by mistake?

As for saving as .ms3d, you can always do that as a separate name just in case.
