Actually, the Intrepid refit was not based on the early concept (I assume that's what you mean - see below) in any way, I just took the stock, gave it some more sensible nacelles and then tried to make it all flow a little better.

I think the concept did have some influence on the new STO design though.

As for the fighter... it was actually a mistake. She had intended to do a Whitestar, but as she's not seen much B5 she had to dig around for reference material. I suspect that she found this:

I won't knock it though, still an awesome job.

The Whitestar fighter is awesome, a shame we never saw it in the series. She did a fantastic job. :D

Eek, over a month since my last post on my thread, and nearly two since I posted any of my own work!!! Bad Kjc.
Well, in between building the Klingon fighter and a Romulan BoP for Maj, I've done some minor tinkering on the Vesta (which is driving me insane) and the Nosferatu. But today I went back to my old Jutland class SSN which has been patiently awaiting a uv mapping for years. This isn't the final texture, and theres still some distortion to clean up, but I figured I may as well through up a picture.

Jutland is done, but to be honest it was detailed work removing distortion so theres no point throwing up a pick.
Instead, here's big brother, Le Attaque class light cruiser. Mapping is going a lot faster based on lessons learned from Jutland... but now I have the urge to kill covenant.

Nice work, certainly has the SeaQuest feel to it.

I am watching Seaquest again on DVD. Only have the 2 first seasons. How many seasons did it have?

Thank you, I'd like to get it finished this weekend... but then I also need to do some significant tidying of the living room :(

seaQuest did have three seasons, however the third season was cancelled prematurely and to my knowledge season 3 hasn't been released on DVD.

Personally I only own season 1, which I consider the best season. Season 2 went a bit too ridiculous scifi for my tastes (telepaths, aliens, giant plants...). Season 3 was almost a reboot and was more a military/political thriller with a bit of scifi thrown in... but it got cancelled. There was great potential there, but like a lot of scifi it got squandered.

Shameless plug bit if you enjoyed season 3, read the Atlantis DSV fanfics (http://atlantisdsv.newcapequest.com/ )which my boats are designed for.

Hello:
I do recall the name Seaquest, but I never watched it, hehehe  . But those models look very good, very rounded so I guess they might be heavy in polygons? also, those textures are quite nice.

Keep it up!

As they are very clean meshes they aren't as heavy as you may think, they come in at around 10k each - although that's in Maya where we use square polygons, so double it if using triangles.

Hello:
As one person in DeviantArt has commented to me before, it is not the same when we talk low-polygons in Armada-style of games than it is for the rest of what is 3D modelling :D . So 20k triangles seems about right as with how smooth your models are :) .

After a load of housework I didnt feel much like uv mapping - so I started a new mesh (yes, another new one).
No prizes for guessing other than self satisfaction and permission to be smug for a short period of time.

Well as a hint, the mesh is far from complete...

Hello:
Well, then I guess I can wait for it to be more completed... but I am sure other people will guess much sooner than me :lol2: .

She's not finished quite yet. Thrust vanes, weapons systems, rear hull and cockpit all needs work. I had never appreciated just how complicated the Starfury actually is.

However, once I have finished I'd be happy to take wing art suggestions. Perhaps we need an MSFC Starfury squadron...

It's also realistically designed enough that NASA expressed interest in it as a spaceborne heavy loader around 1995. I always think it's cool when something you see in sci-fi can actually be built with modern technology.

Indeed. I also found it slightly amusing that after NASA expressed interest in the design for construction, they went a built a construction fury for the later seasons.

Todays update, not so much in the way of building but because of the masses of duplication in the design I thought it'd be worthwhile starting the uv mapping process. Otherwise I'd have to go and re-duplicate the bits I'd already done (well, I had to do some of that anyway, but there could have been more!!). Texture files are just place holders for now.

In a sort of round about way the Starfury always reminded me a bit of the Gunstar from The Last Starfighter. Another cool design. Looks good kjc.

Started on the texturing last night (I cant build and watch a film at the same time on the same screen ;)). At the moment I'm just trying to get the basic skin material to feel right - I think I need to bring up the panels and tone down the dirt a bit. I am pleased with how the guns turned out, its a new technique which I'll also be using on the engines (basically each side is the same panel inverted and inverted again on the uv map).

Oh and the nose art is one of Hellkites superb pieces - there were just so many options to choose from...

It's now reached the point where it's starting to feel "real".
Just need to finish up the engine vanes and the upper fuselage cutouts before I can start texturing in earnest.
