I wouldn't know anything about the Nebula ;)
<snip>
But I admit I like the Endurance a bit more :D :
<snip>
Chile, those look awesome! :clap:I really like this pair of designs. Would love to see these in a proper scene.
The sad thing is how the design we know and love, Fractalpsonge's, was made to sabotage the design itself. All you need to realize that fact are his own words when he talks about starships (I have been lurking in his webpage long enough)... and that he is an Imperial lover :lol2: .

Of course he might deny it, but it is easy to read between the lines
That is interesting, can you explain this a bit further? I'm curious what happened there.

Yeah, i must admit I too love the Empire... I mean, all of the OT ships are timeless classics. But nothing beats the menace of the original ISD, in the opening moments of Episode IV, when we see it fill the screen as it hunts down Leia's blockade runner.
I think the prequels hadn't gone the way he hoped with the fanbase and didn't want to try again, he had his ideas sure and probably assumed Kennedy would've honoured them with the sequels but as you said it wasn't in the contract and in many ways betrayed him. I think he was just tired and wanted the money. While I think what he would've done with the sequels would've been better than what Disney did I still think it lacked what the EU did.

Honestly people like Zhan understood Luke better than even Lucas did in the end. Even Lucas had planned Luke to do the whole non attachment hermit route from what I've heard.
That's a good assessment, I think. I haven't seen the sequels yet, but from what I've read I'm pretty disappointed at how unoriginal they ultimately are. The situation at the end of Ep6 is so interesting - so many stories that could be told! So much wasted potential...

With Rings of Power being another recent disappointment, I'm just frustrated at these giant corporations throwing inordinate amounts of money at beloved franchises just to produce subpar material.

Speaking of the EU. After a recent KOTOR binge I've decided to finally dive into the old books and start reading some of the stories that people keep referencing. Suggestions are highly welcome, though probably best in a different thread as this one should be for Chile's art ;)

That reminds me of a meme that says, because of the sequel trilogy: "Now you don't think Jar-Jar was that bad, right? :D ".

I have also heard about some of George's ideas, and I have even heard of how Episode 8 was meant to be, starting with Luke accepting the lightsaber and explaining Rey she did all those Force abilities because he used a technique on her, so he was guiding her (so, basically, it was Luke doing all the stuff, explaining how Rey could defeat Kylo Ren), and now she must train so she can do it all on her own.... but that sounds bad for Kathleen Kennedy's "The Force is female" propaganda, so no wonder she switched directors.

I have heard of that too, and a lot of other crazy ideas, as Lucas wanted to go more metaphysical too.
Food for thought then. :)
Indeed!
I still love the design even if he did as you say. Lol

Yes, I like it when fans do their own thing, make modifications. Anyone who has followed by modelling will no how much I hate doing canon designs as I like doing my own thing. Even my Constitution isn't accurate it's a refit of the refit in many ways. I just hate sticking to something that has already been done to death as others have done far accurate versions. I prefer to go my own way with things. Always have. So totally understand and appreciate you doing similar here.

Absolutely.
I can understand why you do your own thing and, as I mentioned, I like to do the same too. While I know people doing extremely accurate versions of ships, like Sisko here in MSFC, I like to make my own twists.
Chile, those look awesome! :clap:I really like this pair of designs. Would love to see these in a proper scene.
Thank you very much! Honestly I have not placed my Star Wars models ingame yet but, maybe soon ;) .
That is interesting, can you explain this a bit further? I'm curious what happened there.
Well, the thing is the lore explains the Nebula was build to defeat ISDs, but in a smaller frame because the New Republic is not going to planets leaving entire garrisons of troops for conquer. The Nebula is build for efficiency and not as a weapon of terror, and also as part of an actual fleet, unlike the ISD that are usually on their own.

But then came Fractalsponge, who always talk about the importance of reactors and their sizes (he and his fans are the ones who say turbolasers shoot in the megagigaquantumwatts per shot :lol2: ), and when he designed the Nebula's current form he made a minimal reactor, filled the ship with surplus hangars and less weapons. So while his modelling skills are exceptional, he clearly went against the canon of the people that hired him to do the work (it was back then when LucasArts commissioned FractalSponge instead of then just taking for their books for free). So yes, he says a Nebula coiuld never defeat an ISD... well, his Nebula can't!
Yeah, i must admit I too love the Empire... I mean, all of the OT ships are timeless classics. But nothing beats the menace of the original ISD, in the opening moments of Episode IV, when we see it fill the screen as it hunts down Leia's blockade runner.
Because that ISD is the best! Even the ISD-II is not as cool as it was already made to be shown as the spammable battleship that gets stunned by Ion Cannons  .
That's a good assessment, I think. I haven't seen the sequels yet, but from what I've read I'm pretty disappointed at how unoriginal they ultimately are. The situation at the end of Ep6 is so interesting - so many stories that could be told! So much wasted potential...
That is the potential writters of the old EU saw indeed, and they made a great work. At the end though, one chooses a headcanon, and that is my intention with my 3d models, just to show another possibility :) .
With Rings of Power being another recent disappointment, I'm just frustrated at these giant corporations throwing inordinate amounts of money at beloved franchises just to produce subpar material.
That is indeed because of their current propaganda, remember Netflix did a series with Cleopatra been a black woman. And that movie with Achilles been a black man.

My suggestion would be: all of them, at the same time. okno. But yeah, maybe a thread could be open in the STar Wars section :) .

You're best skipping them honestly. Were a waste all around. Rogue One is fantastic though highly recommend that one.

I didn't mind Rings of Power but I certainly agree it could be better and totally agree on your statement. They're just not faithful to IP's not write quality these days. It's a real dark era for entertainment.

Agree. I'll start a thread if anyone hasn't yet.

Yes I really respect those that have the patience and drive to do that. I am just not one of them as I prefer to be more creative in my own way hahaha.
Thank you very much! Honestly I have not placed my Star Wars models ingame yet but, maybe soon ;) .

Yes would be good to see them flying around at least.

Well I ignore that and go by the lore that the Nebula can beat an ISD one on one. I agree that the hangar should be tiny on the Nebula due to the NR having many carrier designs and hyperspace fighters.
That is the potential writters of the old EU saw indeed, and they made a great work. At the end though, one chooses a headcanon, and that is my intention with my 3d models, just to show another possibility :) .

Yes they did great, some bad stories in there but overall many well and amazing stories.

That is indeed because of their current propaganda, remember Netflix did a series with Cleopatra been a black woman. And that movie with Achilles been a black man.

It's all about identity politics these days rather than being historically accurate. It's stupid as we want entertainment to escape from reality not to be reminded of it all the time.
My suggestion would be: all of them, at the same time. okno. But yeah, maybe a thread could be open in the STar Wars section :) .

"Rogue One" is the best Star Wars movie Di$ney has made, but you might also like "Solo" if you are in the mood of a movie that won't need too much brain power, so just for chill.
I didn't mind Rings of Power but I certainly agree it could be better and totally agree on your statement. They're just not faithful to IP's not write quality these days. It's a real dark era for entertainment.
Indeed it is, same with Star Trek asit went for a huge deconstruction. Remember, in Star Trek, humanity finally learned and outgrew our current state... then I got to see humans in Disc and Pic season1 and it's just out humanity with just better toys o_O .
Agree. I'll start a thread if anyone hasn't yet.
I saw :)
:lol2:
That's interesting never heard of that. But yes agree Kennedy was the worst thing to happen to Star Wars.
Indeed she is. I just hope it won't get any worse.
Yes I really respect those that have the patience and drive to do that. I am just not one of them as I prefer to be more creative in my own way hahaha.
I understand, I myself don't have the drive. So I agree that alternative ways (like lore in starships) is a good alternative :) .
Yes would be good to see them flying around at least.
As the Romulan captain once said: "Perhaps... one day".
Well I ignore that and go by the lore that the Nebula can beat an ISD one on one. I agree that the hangar should be tiny on the Nebula due to the NR having many carrier designs and hyperspace fighters.
Not to mention an ISD needs the energy to hold a ton of people, huge ammounts of cargo and very large structures. The ISD tries to do it all as even Tarkin says it is just for intimidation.

Here's is my Nebula's belly:
New Republic Star Defender Nebula 02.pngNew Republic Star Defender Nebula 03.png
Unlike the ISD, the Nebula has proper weapon coverage, and the reactor is armoured :) .
Yes they did great, some bad stories in there but overall many well and amazing stories.
But even with the bad stories, they cared to tellan actual story, not like how things are nowadays.

Exactly, and even with all the loss of money, it is not their fault, but the people's. Remember how a high executive in Disney once said in Twitter: "We know what you need to watch".

Yes I enjoyed Solo only part that annoyed me was the Imp officer giving Solo his last name, where in Legends Solo was part of the Solo clan a pretty important house on Corellia with his cousin causing a lot of problems after the Vong war.

Yup it really sucks, lost the feel of real Trek imo.

Fingers crossed but with them still pushing sequel trilogy nonsense I don't have much faith that it won't. In fact merchandise companies are pushing out EU content to try and make money.

Yes that's the Disney business model these days, they do the same with Marvel, don't cater for their audience/customers and then blame us when we no longer support their product refusing to go watch it. Buy merchandise for it as well. Until they learn accountability and actually bring the brands back to what they were originally I can't see them making much money. In fact I heard that for cinema's Disney makes up 50% of the market share and with their new direction many cinema's have been closing down in the US because they no longer are making enough money, only the big companies in the Cinema business are being able to weather it.

To be honest, I didn't know that  ... but it sure indicated Di$ney moving away from the EU. So the novels showed more of Han's family?
Yup it really sucks, lost the feel of real Trek imo.
It sure did! A friend pointed that Trek began going dark with DS9 and the Dominion War, specially showing trench warfare. But I think it is indeed this New Trek thatmade it go spiraling-down with deconstructing.

lol, I have heard of that. You made me remember how JJ Abrahms tried to make merchandising companies to stop all Trek merchandise and do only things about his movies.
Nice, I have never attempted a Nebula myself. Hahaha.
You do know what Chancellor Palpatine would say :lol2: .

And it is sad because it is the real target audience that end-up disliking their "stories", because they cannot even be called that, there is even the theory Di$ney's 100th anniversary movie was written by an AI, that shows how bad it is. And that stinks about cinemas, because it seems they are following the same path to death as comics.

Oh yes. His family was something of a high status on Corellia. His cousin ended up taking control of Corellia in the second galactic civil war.

I don't mind a bit of Dark even Enterprise did that in the 3rd season, but it should only happen here and there. Without the hopeful future can you really call it Trek. It's like having no Cylons in BSG, it's not really BSG is it.

Agreed. It is rather disappointing, they alienated the lifetime fans and didn't make enough new fans to replace it. Turned Star Wars from a 4 billion dollar IP into what it is today. Sad.

No matter how fast is his ship, problems always seem to reach Han Solo.

Speaking of problems, heh, in this case I mean it is good to have conflicts because those are what drive a story... but it is again the thing of modern stories deconstructing everything. That is what really bothers me. Even in Enterprise, captain Archer didn't lose his humanity when he commented his people would one day make a Prime Directive, since they are not ther to play god.
Yeah very stupid.
One thing is sure, JJ Abrahms was at least able to show his vision and completer his arc of captain Kirk. It sure makes me wonder how Star Wars sequels could have been if they were left to do his vision uninterrupted.
Indeeeed :D

Because they want to appeal to what they think are minorities. But because of their actions they have caused such a damage, that even some of the people they wanted to please are against them, and we will never again see a character and think "I wonder if that character was always meant to be that way or was changed because politics".

Sadly this is true. But minorities don't drive the entertainment business. Agendas and politics don't either.

That is true! He lost his way but he returned greater than before, that is why it is good... unlike modern Trek that is all about gloomy.
Dang! Even during the final scene of Picard, the bedroom was so dark and depriment!

Agreed, there is enough dark stuff in life a little hopefulness would be nice. Andromeda did that well with a mixture of both until season 5.

They won't until they have more failures to the point they make enough IP's collapse.

Absolutely, the idea of Star Trek is to see what we could become, not to be reminded of all the bad things happening in the real world.

Andromeda was good because it was a fight to literally rekindle the civilization :) . The ship type used by the Triaumvirs were great!

Exactly they totally missed the mark on it. Strange New Worlds is really the only show of late to really grasp this concept. Though the latest seasons of Discovery have seemed to understand this better they did at the beginning.

Yes, it had that hopeful feel from Dylan Hunt. Kevin Sorbo played the part well. Yeah loved the Commonwealth ships they were fantastic.

That is true, but I am still hesitant, I mean, there is still a big use of gloomy scenes... but yes, they are far less now, so that makes me happy.
Though the latest seasons of Discovery have seemed to understand this better they did at the beginning.
I cannot attest to that as only my brother watches Discovery

Hahaha. Since going to the 32nd century it has improved somewhat. I still watch it as more a general sci-fi show than a Trek show. At least now the Discover looks a bit better and fits in more with the era's ships.

I think that jump into the future might have given the series it's true identity?
And yeah, while I'll never watch season1 I do know how anachronistic the ships looked like.

I bet so too! If you've seen the actor, specially the bloopers' videos, you'd know he is very quick to come-up with the righ fun remarks very quickly :lol2: .

Ohh! I knew I wasn't (that) crazy! I knew I made a Carrack, but it was back in 2020:

Yes it really should've started in the far future where they could do whatever the hell they wanted within reason and just have fun. Instead they had to do a prequel, mess it up, after saying it was in the prime timeline they messed up the look and feel of everything so pretty much can't claim that now.
I bet so too! If you've seen the actor, specially the bloopers' videos, you'd know he is very quick to come-up with the righ fun remarks very quickly :lol2: .

Ohh! I knew I wasn't (that) crazy! I knew I made a Carrack, but it was back in 2020:

Instead of so many corporations, for my AU I just said Rendilli got the rights of the ship :D

I thought you had. I was fairly certain I remember seeing it.

Honestly, I'd put ENT, in the other two timelines as it didn't fit that well with the Roddenberry original timeline.

I didn't mind Rings of Power but I certainly agree it could be better and totally agree on your statement. They're just not faithful to IP's not write quality these days. It's a real dark era for entertainment.
I thought about this for a while longer and I think that is what really bothered me about RoP. It could have been better. A lot of passion and effort from a lot of people went into the original LOTR movie trilogy, and I don't blame the makers of the show for not being able to reproduce that. But there are so many things that wouldn't have taken much effort at all to get right... so it feels like they didn't even try.
"Rogue One" is the best Star Wars movie Di$ney has made, but you might also like "Solo" if you are in the mood of a movie that won't need too much brain power, so just for chill.
I haven't seen either of them, I'll put them on the list :D
Yes I enjoyed Solo only part that annoyed me was the Imp officer giving Solo his last name, where in Legends Solo was part of the Solo clan a pretty important house on Corellia with his cousin causing a lot of problems after the Vong war.
I think I remember reading about that when the movie came out. Still think the new-canon version is really stupid. Why can't Solo just be a regular, ordinary last name... o_O
It sure did! A friend pointed that Trek began going dark with DS9 and the Dominion War, specially showing trench warfare. But I think it is indeed this New Trek thatmade it go spiraling-down with deconstructing.
Yeah, I think that's a major difference. DS9 had some dark moments, for sure. But ultimately, what it does is take the utopian society of the Federation and put it to the test. How do people in a society like that deal with conflict on a massive scale, with the threat of an overwhelmingly powerful enemy, and with the paranoia that comes with the shape-shifting Founders' infiltration? And I think the overall answer is a rather positive, hopeful one. But also, a lot of the darker, bleaker bits in DS9 are there to make a statement about morality or the human condition, not necessarily for shock value.
Andromeda was good because it was a fight to literally rekindle the civilization :) . The ship type used by the Triaumvirs were great!
Andromeda had a ton of different issues and some parts of it are really not very good... but I still really like that show. I think the later seasons would have been quite different and probably considerably better if they hadn't fired the lead writer after the second season.

That is quite a contradiction indeed, because they now have more resouces and people and it's just like... they cannot do the level of work we know they can.
I haven't seen either of them, I'll put them on the list :D
Good luck!

Because it is yet another way for Disney to show they are doing their own Star Wars, and they don't care for the EU.

- DS9 was the advaanced human society put to the test.
- New Trek is normal humans of today with just better toys and tech.

I know what you mean, it is really different as seasons passed.

Seems to be the case with entertainment in general of late. When you look at shows and movies from like the 80's and 90's then look at the trainwrecks of today. I am one of the least critical people when it comes to movies etc. I loved movies that flopped like John Carter, Battleship etc, so for me to notice and become critical of a lot of today's work tells me the writing and production has just become lazy and influx of of political agenda's that we simply don't want to see in something that is supposed to be purely entertainment and a escape from reality.
I haven't seen either of them, I'll put them on the list :D
Yeah Solo wasn't liked by many, but I found it alright, certainly better than the sequels. You get to see the Falcon in A+ condition.

I reckon.

So true. It's like the current people behind Trek have totally lost the core aspect of what Trek made Trek well Trek.
Andromeda had a ton of different issues and some parts of it are really not very good... but I still really like that show. I think the later seasons would have been quite different and probably considerably better if they hadn't fired the lead writer after the second season.
I agree. It had it's good and bad.
Because it is yet another way for Disney to show they are doing their own Star Wars, and they don't care for the EU.

They tried to do something they thought was better. Now that has failed and they know it has, they're cherry picking from Legends and still making it bad. No context, background or build up. Something the EU did fairly well. Sure the EU had some really bad stories and some really bad ideas, but it also had some real gems that when putting the best of the EU together IMO outdid the original movies with leaps and bounds.
Because that is indeed the difference!

Sadly this is true.

Indeed, and you actually answered yourself when you wrote "...the writing and production has just become lazy and influx of of political agenda's that we simply don't want to see in something that is supposed to be purely entertainment and a escape from reality."
I agree. It had it's good and bad.
But it is memorable when we can get past the bad and remember the series for the good things and because it had real ideas.

Yeah, it is like "If they are real fans then we won't need to give context, just show them for the shock!".
Something the EU did fairly well. Sure the EU had some really bad stories and some really bad ideas, but it also had some real gems that when putting the best of the EU together IMO outdid the original movies with leaps and bounds.
Because the writers wanted to show stories! Even if good or bad, they were thinking in the characters for real, and not been polluted by agendas.
Sadly this is true.
Yeah:(

Sadly this is accurate for the majority of Hollywood. I want to watch things as an escape from reality, if I wanted reality I'd watch reality TV.
But it is memorable when we can get past the bad and remember the series for the good things and because it had real ideas.

Absolutely it was fun. Just a shame that it went off a tangent. Season 5 I didn't like at all, the rest I enjoyed.

Yeah again laziness and poor writing.

Agendas and politics in shows that aren't meant to represent the modern world kills them. Such as the shows we've already mentioned.

And not just Hollywwod as you can see what happened to Doctor Who.

At least we've got Vedran ships!
Off topic, but I was taking a look at my files, and while I lost my model of Talyn for good, I did keep close-up pics of the cannons, so yay!
Yeah again laziness and poor writing.
Indeed

Absolutely, but since we disagree with their agenda we are the worst human scum :lol2:
