YY Favourite Race Poll

Well it's more curiosity than anything at this point. I just want to see who is interested in what race and who's each persons favourite race is.

Note: I have not included the secret race for obvious reasons.

Yep, it is wise not to mention the secret race, but I believe it would be safe to make another poll with updated data of all races once the mod is ready and there's no more secrets .
I voted for the Federation, it's the race I know the mst and the kind of ships I love the most, I even have my own model kit of the Enterprise-A/B/E, the Reliant and many other from other races and other fed ships too.
The federation would be awesome to see in action in this mod, and to see a Constitution class being build would be almost as great as the first time I saw a Nebula class being constructed when I got the A2 demo for the first time.

Hmm.... I've been playing Fleet Ops a bit lately and the Klingons have caught my attention quite a bit, I think they are going to be my favorite race from YY to play as...

I have always like the Cardassians, weaker than everyone else but they don't let that stop them. So I chose them as to be honest I was a hard decision as I have a few favourite races in YY.

You are correct, well, the Klinogns are always a good race to play with (well, all races are) because they all have their tactics, but Klingons are always fun to play if you have in mind some serious pumelling .

Thats funny, as they were originally only planned to be a quick add on race to begin with.

lol, fair enough. they drew me in because so far, there doesnt seem to have been much done with them in mods previously. unless im lookin in the wrong places...

but maybe too much of a gimmick to compare to the real ahrd cases... the klingon empire

I choose Romulans, hands down easy choice for me. I don't know what it is about them that attracts me so, perhaps its their mysterious nature, I don't know, but they are my favorite Star Trek faction.

I would say I am most looking forward to the Terran Empire. All of the other races (except for the Gorn) have been done before. The Terran Empire however hasn't ever been touched in regards to a full race, and it was something I once thought about for Zero Hour, though being in the 24th century, I figured it wouldn't fit. That decision was made quite early in.

Regardless of which, I am STILL intrigued to this secret race. tell us at least, have they been mentioned yet? - Either by you, or one of us on any given thread?

Let me think about that...ummm...nope.

The race I think I will like the most is a canon one that we seen very little of, and to my knowledge, is also a "Never been done" race... They will also appear in another mod I'm involved. I can't tell you all just yet 100% if they are appearing or Appearing... That's why I voted for the Gorn. They ARE here to stay. Stay tuned for some future updates. Sorry about speaking candidly, I have to.

The Terran Empire represents many of the most interesting chapters of the whole Star Trek saga. And that's why I also want to see them, but for some reason, I still prefer the Federation, they are the best for me (2º place to Spces8472).

Poor Tholians, not one has picked them. The Terran's are doing pretty well in the poll. I have to say I am quite surprised, considering they were originally a tack on race using all Federation units with changed textures till we can up with the idea to make them a little different by adding some unique units to them.

I would like to also ask another question, some of you may have already answered this though.

What draws to you that particular race?

The Tholians get my pity-vote; also, they're punctual, which is something I most certainly am not!

Which is your least favourite race and why?
Romulans. They're cool, but I can't stand actually using cloaked ships.

Of course, I'm looking forward to using - and abusing - the Gorn.

I've gotta take Paul's usual stance with things and just say that the Klingons are going to be my favorite because they don't mince with words, it's straight to all the weapons.

My least favorite... Romulans, when playing against them they'll be more than annoying to try and beat, when playing as them, things will never go right... (I know you guys can get the AI down pat )

Well there are many favourites of mine. Each race has a certain flair to them. I chose Cardassians as I can't wait to see what Syf can do with them. The WIP's I can seen thus far are impressive and from what we have talked about it seems like we won't disappoint anyone with them.

I have always been a fan of TMP Federation and Klingon designs. The Romulans I have always liked, with YY we decided to have them as a stepping stone. That is in TOS they used old Klingon designs refitted for their needs. In YY they are finally designing their own warp capable ships using the tech they have from the Klingons and are getting closer to TNG era designs.

The Terrans, have many designs the Federation does not have, an example the Centaur class, which the Federation will eventually build themselves as seen in DS9. This makes the unique while still showing that they are a mirror version of the Federation. To have an idea about their background, play the game Shattered Universe.

The Gorn, I was never a fan of the SFC designs. They were just boxes with engines. The Gorn in YY is as close to canon as one can get due to the concept design for DS9 we found and used to build the Gorn fleet with. They are victims, after years of being hounded by the Klingons and Romulans. They have new ships, much of the tech is backward engineered from what the Klingons and Romulans left over. Yes they use both plasmas and photons. They are tough but slow.

The Tholians, powerful and secretive, more secretive than even the Romulans. They would have to be the most powerful in the game, so beware when going up against them. The designs Syf is pumping out are impressive and they are keeping with the overall style of Tholian design yet they aren't all like what we have seen in the shows.
