so, a new BSG arcade game has been released for Xbox Live Arcade.

ive got the trial version, and its pretty kicking playing as the Viper, all the sound effects are there.

the only negative is there no voice acting :(. id love a sound clip of Adama telling all Viper's weapons free lol.

Still, its pretty good for a quick simple game. if your looking for something to pass the time on Xbox that u can just hop on and play, i recommend it.

Right, im off for microsoft points so i can get the full version!

Interesting, it's a 2D game right?

I need to see about getting live one of these days, there are plent of the old games I used to play when I was young that I wouldn't mind playing again.

i dunno how to describe it. all the models etc are 3D. In a sense, its like armada in that u have a fixed area you can move about in, but u cant go to different depths like in A2, otherwise its relatively free. the vipers can flip end over end, barrel roll, suddenly reverse course etc. its great :D

Sounds interesting, it sounds more like a Armada 1 style, where you just control a single ship, in this case a Viper. Looks like I may have to start looking into the prices and features of the different Live packages. :)

well, i have a gold membership for a years subscription... which works out the cheapest option, and plays online.

Silver allows for buddies etc, but you cant play online against them. i think u can still use market place though, which is where u'd download the game from. which costs 800 microsofts points. not too bad i guess, its 17.50 for 2100 points - not sure how much thatd be in Oz money though

Just a slight addition from further exploration - in multiplayer (and indeed part of the campaign) u can play as other ships.

Colonials have the Raptor, Viper II, Viper VII and the blackbird as playable craft.

Cylons have a scout raider, heavy raider and 2 other kinds of raiders available, one of which is their stealth ship...

the cylon ships, when played as, also have a red tint around the screen edge, presumably to illustrate that red scanner light from the original BSG/Knight Rider

So you have to pay for the service then extra to download stuff? I might forget it then. I thought the basic subscription was all you had to pay along with your broadband costs.

yep, afraid so. like i said, the silver account is free, but you can't play against people online, though i think u can still use marketplace. to play online though, you have to have a gold subscription which costs. and to be fair, not everything costs, just some things. demo's are free for example, but the full arcade games (which includes the full bsg game) have to be bought.

its still worth it. one of the recent downloads is "new goblin" for the spider-man 3 game - guess he's no longer exclusive to PS3 lol :D
