As we are coming up to the end of season 4, i cant help but think what season 5 will bring us,

So, i had a little look around.

Most places seem to know little. and what i have managed to find is from Wikipedia. so forgive me if its not entirely accurate

After being a regular character in season four Amanda Tapping will become a guest star in several episodes of season five. Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey) joins the cast as a permanent character since Woolsey asumes command of Atlantis. Actress Jewel Staite also is promoted from recurring to permanent cast member. Both Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) and Paul McGillion will appear as guest stars in this season, with McGillion appearing in five episodes[8] A new character named Captain Alicia Vega (formerly named Alison Porter), played by actress Leela Savasta, will become a recurring member in the season, who will lead her own team from episode four onwards, while Dr. Alison Porter will first appear in the fourth episode.[9] Actress Torri Higginson has stated that she won't reprise her role as Dr. Elizabeth Weir in the fifth season.[10]

Also, here is the apparent plot for the first episode of season 5

Carter launches a rescue operation for several victims of a huge off-world explosion, but the rescue party must also combat Michael and his army who also wish to recover the survivors. Captain Alicia Vega joins the expedition.

so, it look like
Micheal is still a contender, and the wraith are bordering on extinction. however if they do find a way to stop their need to feast on human life, as micheal has found, then would they become an enemy or ally against what ever Agenda Weir is behind.

would this "new way" be focusing on a second team?

If iam honest, I have no idea, it would interesting to see a 2 team lead and how a story would develop, my biggest worry is the amount of cast changes that keep happening every year/season, if TV politics and history has anything to say, it doesn't bode well for Atlantis

yeah, althgouh maybe the writers have finaly realised that killing off cast members doesnt really get them the ratings they want.

due to the out cry caused by Beckets departing.

iam all for keeping things "fresh" in a story, and in the real world, people die (as sad as that is), so in TV when people die they should stay dead (ie keeping it "real") and build/move on from that. If they keep that in mind and stop resurecting every tom, dick and harry, it will be an ok season.

Technically, Beckett wasn't ressurected. He was cloned. :p

It was darn interesting to see how it happened though, didn't think he'd get cloned the way he did.

Anyway, Season 5. I hope, when they have Cater and Daniel on the show, they do it so that they are on the show together, rather than in different episodes. Wouldn't mind seeing Teal'C again too..

Would say Cameron and Vala, but don't think they'll have much of a reason for going to Atlantis.

Also, in regards to the Wraith. Todd (for sure) would side with the Atlantis Team. Deep down, he knows they'll come out on top I think, and for a Wraith, he is a good guy. I expect Micheal will end up dead at some point, and as for Wier, I don't think anything will happen. Tori has said she wont do season 5, so...

As with everything, its going to be a case of wait and see...........

its a shame tori isnt coming back...

I really wanted to know what was behind the "finally, we can get started" Comment, and the possibly implie sinister nature of the comment.

But i guess we will have to wait and see, unless that was just to show us, that the replicators arent dead.

They could be saving that for a later season. Give them time to build up to do whatever it is.

I don't believe so, after all the second half of s4 wasn't, I don't think we really have a reason to think this will be. As far as I know the two producers actually do a fair amount of the writing themselves so they won't have to rely on the writers gulid for as much in any situation.

Stargate Atlantis wasn't hit by the Writers Strike. The Writers Strike was an American Issue. Stargate Atlantis is filmed in Canada.

Apparently

there is an episode where Ronon's friend Tyre comes back, and convinces Ronon he broke from the Wraith brainwashing. ONly to betray Ronon again, who then gets captured and totured. The wraith dont kill him as they know him to be a great asset. and there is a lot of mixed feelings amoung the regular teams, Some say he wont break some say they should rush as he could at any moment, thusly reveiling teh location of atlantis.

Personally the best bit of this is, that apparently In Ronon's "Screwed up insanity" as a result of the brain washing he cuts off his Dreads! Shock horror i hear you cry, but as this (from what i understand) was one of the first to be shot, but not one of the first to air, Jason Momoa is undergoing (or underwent by now) a procedure to reattach them.

Tbh i just thought that bit was funny.

That is old news to me (about his hair). The episode is somewhat new news to me, though I have read about it before (over on Gateworld). I can only assume that Ronan manages to pick himself up afterward, and kills his 'old friend'.

well, this may be news to some but not others :p

But anyway.

According to script coordinator Alex Levine in his blog.
"The good news: we're airing early this year, starting in the summer," he said. "So hopefully our ratings will stay up, and most importantly, you won't have long to wait for more Stargate."

sorry out of Edit time

Anyway

Waht season 5 has in store in terms of "The Daedelus Variations" Which is said to be the 4th episode of the 5th season.

The ship was first introduced in Season Two of Atlantis, and has been under the command of Colonel Steven Caldwell (Mitch Pileggi).

Today, a casting call went out for the role of Captain Sobol:

Colonel Sheppard's team finds the Earth ship Daedalus abandoned. As McKay works to restore power, Teyla finds a recording in the computer -- the final entry of the ship's log.

It is Captain Sobol, apparently the commander of the Daedalus, who reports that equipment and supplies have been transported down to the planet's surface, where he and his crew hope to survive long enough to be found and rescued. Sobol plans to soon join them in an F-302 fighter.

The crew's predicament and the reason for their evacuation, however, is not the first question that Sheppard the team have. The first question is ... Who is Captain Sobol?

Written by Alan McCullough, "The Daedalus Variations" is currently slated to air as Season Five's fourth episode. It should go before cameras later this month under the direction of Andy Mikita.

Only a guess here, have seen it on other forums too, and it seems like the obvious conclusion, but the Dealadus in this episode, is quite possibly from an alternate universe.

Or at least the crew are? Perhaps not the ship itself? That would be even weirder I think...
