• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hey there, MSFCians!

Thought I might post this one here, since it is only partially A2-related.

While working on Wastelands (hehe, working, I just enjoyed the cineractive mode :p) I had this idea. I like awesome A2 screenies, and I like awesome typography. So why not combine the two? Ever wished you had your favourite starship as a desktop background with the class or ship name displayed with beautiful letters? As a professing typophile, I thought it wouldn't be too hard to do. So here are the first three pieces of Typo-Trek. Or Star Typo? Which has actually nothing to do with typos.
So what do we have here? First of all, we have the Connie, or to be precise, R5D5's partial TMP refit combined with Kontrapunkt. The second pic shows R5D5's PrimeVerse Kelvin, the Fahrenheit, combined with Linux Biolinum O. Last, but not least, we have the TA borg cube, combined with the lovely OCR-A Extended.

Please note that these are still prototypes. I just started experimenting with this stuff, it is still not completely worked out. Nevertheless, enjoy!

Hello:
It sounds like it can work, maybe very nice to have with hero ships too as it can add a nice atmosphere to the pic... maybe like in BSG? but in Trek style.

I like the Cube one, it is spooky.

Keep it up!

I expected this thread to be full of the adventures of Krik, Spokc and MCcoy! It gets more fun in Typo Trek: Teh Nxt Generashun and Typo Trek: Deeep Sapce 8!

EDIT to add: but in all honesty, this is a really neat idea, and well-executed. :D

How are you puting text on the pics?
As always, I am using GIMP. Apply a little bit of gaussian blur to the text and voila! :D

That would be the extended variant of OCR-A, the first machine-readable font designed in 1968.
