Not a Joe tank but here is my latest attempt. A futuristic tank. I wanted something smaller, lighter, and faster than the M1A2 Abrams. I figured on a turbocharged diesel engine, for better range. Would a nuclear powered tank be out of reality? Said engine to power an electric generator that would run four independent electric motors. One motor per track. That way if the tank lost one track it wouldn't be totally in composited. A three man crew all housed in the turret, to allow a shorter overall length and room for the front track motors. A driver, gunner, and a commander. One autoloading hypervelocity 100mm main gun with auto guided AP and HE munitions. A good old MA Duce, if it ain't broke don't fix it, in an independent turret. A Protector M151 remote weapon station with a 30 cal machine gun on top (I have yet to draw). I had originally planed on a four shot tow missile launcher but I think I'm going to nix that so as not to mess with the sleek lines.

Railtank1a.png

It's a work in progress. Looking for feed back. Do you think I need to move the hole main turret more forward? Or space out the tracks more? Not a 100% sold on how the back lines came out.

I'm going to armor the back track like the front. But I plan on a series of these tanks and took a little time to draw the track with more detail so I can reuse them. And I want to see what you thought of the back unarmored track as a separate design? Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

Your right it does look like a self-propelled gun, and I was afraid of that. Like I said its a work in progress. I ran out of time last night and didn't got around to defining the main turret, but wanted to get some feed back so I posted anyway.

Railtank1turret.png

The new light grey area is going to be the Main Turret. I do need to work out exactly how it well rotate. I was thinking of having the main turret sit inside an armored lip on the main hull so a lucky shot couldn't go between the hull and turret. Not sure how to draw that in 2d? Thoughts?

Well I got one set of tracks done and I'm about to go cross-eyed. Enough for tonight.

Thank you very much for the new studio thread Hellkite. :salute: Sorry I keep hijacking other threads.

Hi Chile. I'm drawing it in regular old 2d "Paint". I'm just drawing it to look 3d. The extra lines are just my guidelines, so everything stays in the right perspective. This is definitely a learning experience for me. I've never tried to draw on the computer before. I'm use to totally straight lines and not this dotted pixel thing. Its messing with my OCD. But ever time I do get a little better, but its slow.
I could do this in half the time with paper, pencil, and a ruler. Although the computer has some advantages; like being able to copy things, as well as cut and move a section of my drawing without starting over. So I'll keep at it.

I've noticed that indeed! Maybe in the future you may try some drawing programs that are free, like Paint.net and Medibang... although that one is more for comics but it has some features that can make your work using perspective much easier.

And don't forget the control+z feature :lol2:

Here is a teaser of the turret. It looks a little too small to me but I'm too far into to quit now. I may try again with the turret aligned with the main hull.

I think I finished my Hydra tank. She has a turbo-diesel engine that can propel her to 75 mph. Composite armor to keep the weight down. Four 30mm chain guns with 10,000 rounds of AP, HE, API ammo. One 50 cal with 2000 rounds. Fourteen long range surface-to-surface or surface-to-air missiles. Ninety-eight short range SSM or SSA's.

I saw her as a long range exploration vessel. Thats one of the reasons the saucer is warp capable.

Very cool!
So perhaps it is not crew intensive considering it will have another warp core, right? So it has room for it and also the many labs?

Oh dear

Well, so far I have only been giving a small lore to each ship, so there is a notion of why that faction created them.

Yea though I walk though the valley of death I will fear no pixel circle!
Pixel fear is the little death that kills you over and over.
I will not fear for my eraser and control Z button are with me.
