Not a Joe tank but here is my latest attempt. A futuristic tank. I wanted something smaller, lighter, and faster than the M1A2 Abrams. I figured on a turbocharged diesel engine, for better range. Would a nuclear powered tank be out of reality? Said engine to power an electric generator that would run four independent electric motors. One motor per track. That way if the tank lost one track it wouldn't be totally in composited. A three man crew all housed in the turret, to allow a shorter overall length and room for the front track motors. A driver, gunner, and a commander. One autoloading hypervelocity 100mm main gun with auto guided AP and HE munitions. A good old MA Duce, if it ain't broke don't fix it, in an independent turret. A Protector M151 remote weapon station with a 30 cal machine gun on top (I have yet to draw). I had originally planed on a four shot tow missile launcher but I think I'm going to nix that so as not to mess with the sleek lines. It's a work in progress. Looking for feed back. Do you think I need to move the hole main turret more forward? Or space out the tracks more? Not a 100% sold on how the back lines came out.
I'm going to armor the back track like the front. But I plan on a series of these tanks and took a little time to draw the track with more detail so I can reuse them. And I want to see what you thought of the back unarmored track as a separate design? Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!
