• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

As revealed by the latest episode of Doctor Who Confidential just broadcast in the UK, it is now known that Matt Smith is the Eleventh Doctor.

His acting credits include appearing alongside Billie Piper in the two Sally Lockhart stories The Ruby In The Smoke & The Shadow In The North as well as an episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

The casting of Matt Smith as the next Doctor was included as a news item on Australian ABC News.

Interestingly the report ended with a scene from one of the Sally Lockhart stories he was in of an explosion with the reporter saying that since Smith has been cast as the Doctor, he is going to get used to scenes like that.

A very pleasant surprise and I just emailed the ABC thanking them for including Smith's casting in the news bulletin.

And at this rate the next next Doctor will be played by a 12 year old.

While I'm happy to wait until mid-2010 to see Mr.Smith in the role; I just feel mid-20s is just a bit young. I've always felt the Doctor needed to be played by someone in their mid-30s to mid-40s. Still young enough for the workload, but old enough to have authority.

I ceratinly hope this decision hasn't been made to make the show appeal more to an "american audience". For some strange reason a show has to be a "success in america" for it to be considered successful in the minds of many. (Many who often don't even watch the show). And all to often changing a show to appeal to that demographic just wrecks it.

There's an interesting piece on the BBC website where the producers talk about how they were impressed by Mr.Smith version of the role, his ability to play a young man who is nearly 1000 years old.

We just have to wait to find out .........
